MAC Temperature Rising

MAC Temperature Rising is new for summer 2013 and features a bevy of beautiful things in gorgeous bronze-colored packaging.

In fact one of my favorite things about this collection is the packaging. Not only is the color just perfect for sultry hot summer days and nights, but it feels like soft satin. Very pleasing to my grubby nubs!

So when you think of a summer collection you usually think of bronze and gold and taupe and warm shades, right? Maybe a pop of a bright shade here and there. This collection has a bit of everything! I was actually very impressed with the payoff of the eye shadow quads, and that my friends, hasn’t been the case in the last couple years in general!

MAC Temperature Rising Swatches
Rich Glance, Life’s Luxury, Liquid Passion, Soft Serenade, Caliente, Sheer Seduction

Rich Glance is a light gold shade.

Life’s Luxury is a deep bronze/brown with incredible pigmentation.

Liquid Passion is a creamy warm pink/tan shade. A bit “lip-line-y” on the lips.

Soft Serenade is a sparkly neutral pink shade.

Caliente is a warm violet dazzle. It looks more brown on my lips than violet.

Sheer Seduction is a medium bronze dazzle. A little on the patchy side, not my favorite lip finish for sure!

MAC Temperature Rising Swatches-2
Hot Nights, Sun Dipped, Soft Sand

Hot Nights is a bright medium berry pink with slight frost. Very intense pigmented shade.

Sun Dipped is a medium warm bronze/gold shade. Nice intensity, so soft!

Soft Sand is a light golden bronze. This is super pale, so I think it would work great for fair skinned folks.

MAC Golden Elixer and Man Rays Swatches
Golden Elixir, Man Rays

Golden Elixir is a light/medium golden shade. It looks rather intense here but blended into the skin it gives off a really nice glow. Definitely not too deep for me.

Man Rays is a medium tan shade with tons of golden shimmer. This one also looks a bit intimidating but again, it rubs out into a fine golden shimmer.

MAC Bare My Soul Eye Shadow Quad Swatches
Bare My Soul: Romantico, Bare My Soul, When in Rio, Friendly (over primer)

Romantico is a light/medium taupe/bronze shade (veluxe pearl).

Bare My Soul is a muted warm gold (lustre).

When in Rio is a dark green duochrome with copper (frost).

Friendly is a deep bronze/brown (veluxe pearl).

I was really rather impressed with these shades over a primer. I didn’t have to work and work and work to get good payoff at all. They felt soft, easy to pick up and all are great shades. I especially love When in Rio because of the duochrome and Friendly because it’s so rich.

MAC Temperature Rising Eye Shadow Quad Swatches
Temperature Rising: Circus/Performance Art, Temperature Rising, Beauty Marked, Swelter (over primer)

Circus/Performance Art is a light golden/mauve shade (veluxe pearl).

Temperature Rising is a light warm peach (lustre).

Beauty Marked is a deep black with red pearl (velvet).

Swelter is a medium grey-violet (frost).

I wasn’t quite as impressed with these shadows as with the Bare My Soul quad, but most were nice. The only one I struggled to get to show up was Temperature Rising. It’s not that pigmented and not super soft. Beauty Marked and Swelter are really nice.

MAC Tropical

Tropical has a brown/copper base and is jam-packed with bronze glitter. It’s a little thin at first in terms of the base shade, but after two coats it covers pretty nicely. I do actually like this one because I love me some copper and bronze! And I love me some full-coverage glitters that don’t look like clumpy, bumpy messes!

MAC Scorching Haute
Scorching Haute

Scorching Haute is a magenta glitter. This one doesn’t have a colored base, but still is basically a full-coverage glitter. It has some super small sugar-like sized glitter along with larger pieces. It didn’t cover quite as easily as Tropical, it took three coats.

Overall: There are some definite winners in here in my eyes. In particular I loved the Bare My Soul quad, Life’s Luxury Powerchrome Eye Pencil, the bronzer, bronzing powder and Tropical nail polish. The two Lip Glasses I tried didn’t particularly bowl me over neither did the lipsticks because I don’t care for the dazzle finish. The blush is a great pigmented shade if you’re looking for a pop of color. I do like the strobe cream and body oil as well, but I don’t often find myself reaching for these kinds of items. But only because I am LAZY! 😉

Availability: MAC May 23rd.
