Smashbox Megatint Long Wear Lip Color Swatches and Review

Smashbox Megatint Long Wear Lip Color

Smashbox Megatint Long Wear Lip Color is new for spring 2013 and these lightweight lippies come in six shades.

These are the first lip tints from Smashbox, but they are definitely more pigmented than a traditional “tint”. They are developed with 40% water which I TOTALLY noticed when applying them. It was actually really neat (ewww who uses that word anymore?), they felt really cooling and slick and I kept thinking it was in my mind until I read about them more.

They have a long wear formula and are supposed to last 8 hours or so.

Mimosa, Punch, Cerise

Mimosa is a coral shade.

Punch is a bright cool-toned fuchsia.

Cerise is a cherry red.

Overall: I really love the texture of these because the water effect is really obvious, and they feel pretty comfy on the lips. I haven’t worn them for a full day yet so not sure about the 8 hour claim yet. They are nicely pigmented, not like a lipstick would be, but more than a normal tint. You can build them up a little bit, but they still look more like a pretty stain.

Availability: Nordstrom, Sephora, Smashbox.

Pricing: $20.00 for 0.05 oz.

What do you think about these? Do you like lighter tinted lips for summer or prefer super saturation or gloss?

These are pretty. I like mimosa the best. Any recommendations for a lip stain that comes in a nude shade?

    • April 17, 2013

Hmmm I can’t think of one offhand except a horrible Revlon one I would never recommend!

  • April 17, 2013

While I do like that these lippies are long lasting and nice and hydrating they are just out of my price range

That’s so interesting, including the water, and I think I want to try the cooling formula! Mimosa looks perfect for a beachy summer day :)

Nice and glossy! I think I like the glossy effect a bit more in summer, but still I want some pigment. These do seem moderately pigmented tho!

I notice you saying a lot that you “haven’t worn them for a full day” in your reviews. It would be way more helpful if you didn’t do the review until you knew. The swatches are nice, but that’s not all I look for in a review. Just something to think about.

    • April 17, 2013

I don’t normally talk about wear for any product in reviews because it varies greatly (especially nail polish). If something wears really long or really short, I always mention that.

    • April 17, 2013

      That annoys me too!
Also, how the “main reviews” are the same as the “beauty shorts” review.
No actual review on either of them.
BUT I do like the swatches

      • April 17, 2013

The Beauty Shorts are not meant to be a review, I mentioned that when I added the area to my website. They are products I like and just a quick blurb. And may I ask, how am I not reviewing anything else in your eyes? Wear-time is subjective that is the only thing I don’t cover.

        • April 17, 2013

Yes, I get that the beauty shorts are quick blurbs. Im saying your actual reviews are quick blurbs as well. Theres no difference.

          • April 17, 2013

My reviews cover most everything about a product from texture to scent to color to formula to packaging… I’m not sure what you expect from them? I don’t feel a review needs to be a dissertation to cover what needs to be said. Less is more in my eyes.

These seem like they’d be really good for a vacation in a hotter climate.

Hmm…they seem to be a bit too expensive for what they are. It’s a bummer that the color range isn’t that different. The colors seem to look pretty similar after applying them.

But the texture does look really smooth!!

I really like Mimosa and Punch! Not sure if they’re worth the price, but they sure are pretty. I’m always looking for lip products that won’t dry me out, so maybe I’ll shell out the money and pick one or two up.

Mimosa is gorgeous! I’d totally splurge for one of these babies. I really like that they’re not superbly pigmented like a lipstick would be, I feel they’re the perfect amount of ‘pop’ for summer.

Mimosa is very pretty but not sure I’d pay $20 for something that is almost half water.

Hurrah for new lip products that aren’t shaped like giant pencils. I hate how homogenous some of the collections are looking.
