The Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette in Ladybird (anyone watch King of the Hill?) is the latest palette from the brand and when I recently had a 20% off promo, I knew I needed it.
I didn’t buy it because it looked that interesting or unique though. I bought it because I am OBSESSED with collecting these for some random reason! I feel this overwhelming urge to posses these palettes before I even look at the colors inside. Ah well, at least I don’t do this with any other palettes.
Ladybird features eight matte shadows as well as a mini Autograph Pencil liner in Immortal Love (dark brown).
Für Elise, Vespertine, Renholdër, Siouxsie-Sioux
Für Elise, Vespertine, Renholdër, Siouxsie-Sioux (over primer)
Für Elise is a deep eggplant purple.
Vespertine is a pale warm vanilla.
Renholdër is a medium taupe.
Siouxsie-Sioux is a deep charcoal with very slight sheen.
I found all four of these shades to be pretty nice over a primer. They are nicely pigmented and I don’t get that chalky, patchy feeling like with some matte shadows. Vespertine was on the verge of feeling chalky though. You can build them up a bit, which is nice. I love Siouxsie-Sioux.
Unrequited, Harlow, Wölf, Cleopatra
Unrequited, Harlow, Wölf, Cleopatra, Immortal Love (over primer)
Unrequited is a very pale warm tan.
Harlow is a medium cork.
Wölf is a deep warm reddish/brown.
Cleopatra is a deep burnt orange.
Immortal Love liner is a dark chocolate brown.
These four were decent, but maybe not as nice as the first four. Unrequited barely shows up on me, I think it would make a nice “under the brow bone” shade though. Wolf and Cleopatra were a little patchy feeling at first. I love the Immortal Love pencil, great creamy dark brown shade.
Overall: Well here goes. It’s my least favorite Kat Von D Palette I think. One because I just am not that into these kinds of warm colors. But also I prefer more of a mix between mattes and shimmers. The first four shades are more my speed and tend to be cooler-toned. If it was split up between the two sides I would have just bought the first four! But do I regret buying it? No! The collector in me still likes it on some level.
What do you think about this palette, is it something you would be interested in? Do you like all matte palettes or prefer a mix of finishes?
