Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain Swatches and Review

Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain

Hard Candy All Glossed Up Hydrating Lip Stain is new at a Walmart near you (or maybe not if you don’t live near one) and it comes in eight shades.

This fat crayon is both a lip stain and a lip gloss. They have a non-silicone base and provide major moisture for your lips. Even though they bill them as a lip stain, they are really nicely pigmented. I was really surprised how much color I was getting from them. Super easy to apply, super comfortable on the lips. I LOVE them. No yucky taste or scent either. They twist up from the bottom, no sharpening required.

Overall: I really love these and was pleasantly surprised with how nice the texture and payoff was. If you wear them for a bit they do leave a stain on the lips as they wear off. Three of them look pretty similar on my lips (which are fairly pigmented pink already) and they are Orange You Sweet, Pout and Love Bite. But the others definitely look different from each other. For the price especially, I think these are excellent.

Availability: Walmart.

Pricing: $5.00 for 0.11 oz.

What do you think about these, will you try them out?

      Yeah three of them do!

These look pretty nice. But I don’t usually go to Walmart & the one near me isn’t really near anything (so it’s not like I pass it). If I’m in there, I will take a look at these, though.

Do you know how they compare to the Revlon and CoverGirl ones? I’ve really enjoyed wearing the ones I’ve bought from those brands.

    • April 16, 2013

I don’t use Cover Girl but I do have quite a few of the Revlon ones. I feel like these are more moisturizing and glossier in general than those, but I like those ones also!

  • April 16, 2013

Ooo I like how glossy these look! I’ll try a few if I can find them!

Anyone spot possible dupes for MAC VGV Cyndi in this group of shades? I see a few that seem like they might be contenders!

Pretty, and a good price. They do all lean on the pinky side, though.

thanks for posting this! I must have at least cupcake!
I’m really liking Hard Candy lately.Ii love the latest polishes too.

Chic looks nice. The orange one disappoints me. Not orange at all. The other ones are just… they look too much alike. But I am quite fond of the price of these. $5 is great.

So, now I need to get these as well as the Hard Candy polishes that look like Illamasqua’s speckled ones. These look really pretty and are a great alternative since I don’t buy Cover Girl and stopped buying Revlon. Thanks for posting and reviewing!

I got Mauveous (thought I think they should have added an L, like Mauvelous), and was surprised at how pigmented it was. All the other balm stains I have you really have to work at, this one is super easy to work with. I need more!

I love how stains dont look so heavy. Very pretty colors, I especially like the deep red on you!

My lips are always dry so knowing these are moisturizing, I may need to buy a couple. Thanks for the review.

How was the wear time on these? Is the stain when they wear off actually look nice? Because I’ve found with my stains that they always look awful at that point, sort of like I’ve lined my lips with a bright color and forgotten to fill them in with lipstick. D:

    • April 17, 2013

      Does the stain*
      Whoops!

It’s a long time, and they do stain. I’ve worn them for weeks and think they’re the best balm stain for the price. These have never dried on my lips, but they also don’t bleed/stray.

  • April 18, 2013

I will probably try this out if I do im going for cupcake and vintage only. But I do love my revlon one!

I had to try these after reading this post, so I went and got Chic. I LOVE IT. I haven’t been able to find a really hydrating gloss or anything that doesn’t leave my lips feeling weird after I wear it, until now. My lips get dry really easily and crack and peel, but after wearing this just a few times, they’ve improved 200%. It isn’t as shiny as in your pics, I’m not sure why, and it looks a lot more coral-ish on me than you, but whatever. I’m in love with it and I need to get more.

How was Chic? Did the color go on as a earthy neutral, light brown? Or pinkish red?

  • April 22, 2013

i definitely went out and bought some of these as soon as i read your review on them! so perfect.

I have Vintage and it’s a but too reddish to me. I wanted a light brownish mauve and this wasn’t it. But, I love the feel of it and no smell and it actually has color to it. And no parabens that I know of. If they add more of a selection, I’d get more.

    Nice photos!

I have one of these (chic) and I am really impressed with it! I’m glad to see a cruelty-free version of these lipstick crayons that are becoming so popular – seems like just about every brand has come out with their own version! I’m excited to try some other colours :)

I bought Love Bite, thinking it was similar in tone to the packaging. It is more of a vivid or hot pink, not what I wanted. I’ve stopped using Revlon since PETA bought stock & went to a Board meeting & Revlon was evasive about animal testing, since they sell in China.
I’m going to return the Love Bite and buy either Chic or Cupcake. I love that these are glossy and not sparkly, like the Revlon ones I bought, previously to my decision to stop buying Revlon.

Thanks for all these swatches! Super helpful. :) Although I think the compilation has them in a different order than the list, maybe? I was trying to figure out which was which, so in case anyone else is too – based on the shine patterns it looks to my eye that the compilation is: (L-R, by row)
    Chic, Cupcake, Love Bite
    Mauveous, Orange You Sweet, Pout
    Red Vixen, Vintage

Also, did anyone find Chic to be kind of…chalky/too white undertones, like Cupcake looks a bit? I have fairly pigmented lips so I’m not sure if it would wash me out. :/
