eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres Photos & Review
Did you know that eos Lip Balm Smooth Spheres are USDA-certified organic? They are 100% natural (flavors Summer Fruit, Strawberry Sorbet, Honeysuckle, Honeydew and Sweet Mint, that is), paraben free, gluten free, cruelty free and petroleum free.
These cute little spheres come in six flavors all with jojoba oil, Shea butter and vitamin E.
- Summer Fruit
- Lemon Drop SPF 15
- Strawberry Sorbet
- Honeysuckle Honeydew
- Medicated Tangerine
- Sweet Mint
How cute are they? The packing, as the name implies, is a very smooth, soft sphere, but the bottom is flat, so they stand up on their own. Open it up to find the soft rounded lip balm inside.
They do smell and taste very much like the names imply. Some I prefer more than others (I like Medicated Tangerine, which doesn’t smell or taste “medicated” and Summer Fruit the best). They apply easily and feel nice on the lips. Not greasy or too slippery. They make a good base under a lipstick because they aren’t too thick or slick.
I don’t feel they last as long or penetrate the deeper layers of my lips (I have no idea what I’m talking about) as much as oh say the Jack Black Lip Balms, which are the GOLD standard for me. However they do work decently at moisturizing, and since the Jack Black ones are thicker and more buttery, those don’t work as well under a lipstick.
I do wish all of them had an SPF of 15 in them, but you can’t win ‘em all!
Availability: Target, CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens, Duane Reade, Walmart.
Pricing: $3.29 for 0.25 oz.
Have your tried these? What is your go-to lip balm right now?
-Kelly
Note: eos is cruelty free.

These are amazing. My favorite is Summer Fruit and Strawberry Sorbet, can’t get enough of them. I don’t know how many I have used up, haha

They look so cute! I must try Strawberry Sorbet.

I love EOS. I think I have every single flavor.
my favorite is the lemon, sweet mint, and the vanilla from the Alice in Wonderland set.
I LOVE the flavors/scents of these, but it took me a little while to realize that they were destroying my lips. I had the worst chapped lips for about a month, and then I went a day or two using Blistex instead of these and they were healed. I started up with them again, and immediately had dry chapped lips again. Turns out they contain Linalool, which some people (including me, I guess) are allergic to.
FYI – From Wikipedia: Linalool gradually breaks down when in contact with oxygen, forming an oxidized by-product that may cause allergic reactions such as eczema in susceptible individuals. Between 5–7% of patients undergoing patch testing in Sweden were found to be allergic to the oxidized form of linalool.
Oh hell. Let me stop using this right now. I get really bad eczema flare ups. Last thing I need is a flare up on my face D:
They are decent but I really don’t think they are as amazing as what some people say they are.

Jack Black lip balms are just glorified Vaseline. All they are is petrolatum! Not healthy or organic or natural at all.
You just blew my mind. I don’t know how I missed this controversy. I’m appalled at the listed vs. actual ingredients and have no clue how they’ve gotten away with it for so long.
I typically don’t choose to put petroleum anywhere near my skin and I’ve been unknowingly blobbing this stuff on my lips for ages.
Hissssssssssssssssssssss
For me I don’t care what’s in them as long as it works, and they work far better on me than anything else ever has.
I just purchased the Summer Fruit one this past week. It does taste and smell yummy, but it does a poor job at moisturizing. I was sad about that. I probably won’t buy any more
The packaging seems inconvenient for just throwing in your pocket.
I have Honeydew and it’s amazing! Sometimes I put it on before going to bed (because my lips feel so dry) and, when I wake up, it’s still on!
Helped my brother with his super chapped, sometimes-peeling lips too! Also like how there’s no petroleum.

Love these! My hg lip balm, for sure. I did have an allergic reaction to the sweet mint, but all the others work fine for me.

They seem a bit gimmicky and impractical to me. My go-to lipbalm right now is Neutrogena’s Intense Repair Lip Balm, it dries matte so it makes the perfect base for my matte lipsticks!
I’m loving the background on the first two pictures by the way! Haha
I have a flavor not mentioned here: pomegranate something or other. I really enjoy the packaging, which surprised me, it is very easy to find at the bottom of my purse. Applying this in public always elicits questions. However it didn’t become a HG lip balm.
Very cute…but I hate lip balms and glosses that have a taste. Just yuck! I hate the taste in my mouth. I’m a plain jane when it comes to balms and glosses.
I want to love these…. But it seems like they make my lips flake? I have three, pomegranite, summer fruit and sweet mint. I wanted a cheaper alternative to my Fresh and Caudalie but those two just rock
Love kitties in the light box!!
I liked eos for a time, but after few months using it, it dosnt work for me anymore

I’ve always wondered about these. They’re definite conversation starters when you take them out. My go-to lip balm is Aquaphor as it does the best as softening my lips.

Wow. I’m surprised you haven’t reviewed these earlier. They’ve been in my small area for about 3 years now. I love EOS balms. I’ve been through about 4 of them. They are my go to balm before bed. I put it on before and wake up with it on. I hear that their shaving cream is amazing. I’ve never tried it though.
You know, I’m not much of a fan of their shaving cream. Love the scent but I like a MAJOR lather when I shave, and it’s a bit thin. I prefer Skintimate gel.
Yeah, I don’t care for the shaving cream at all.
I really disliked EOS when I tried it, but I’ve heard that the effectiveness varies between flavors.
I am another Jack Black lip balm lover! It’s my favorite daytime lipbalm, and Nuxe is my favorite nightime one.

I have a few of these because they smell good, but they almost dry out my lips. My new favorites are the Nivea lip tin lip butters. They smell so good and work well on my lips. I love the way the Eos looks and I want to like them more than I do.
These don’t work for me…I wanted to like them so bad. They break out my lips in weird bumps both times I’ve tried them…and they take days to get rid of! Needless to say, I won’t be trying them again!

so adorable! i really want the strawberry flavor
My favorites are summerfruit and the green one. I thought they were gimmicky until trying them… they actually are great, light balms. It’s funny when you use them up, it’s like a flat surface of lipbalm.

I love Jack Black lip products but these are just fun. I own all except the Tangerine flavor and as another commenter mentioned, they’re very easy to find at the bottom of my bag because of the shape. I lose the usual shaped chapstick very easily, but because these are a bit bigger, I haven’t lost one yet.

I have the sweet mint one and I like it. I’m almost done with it, but I’m unsure if i will repurchase when I use it up. It does a decent job, and the packaging is super cute and fun (I leave mine next to my computer at my desk so I can reapply whenever I need it at work) but I haven’t found anything that works better. Jack black’s works just about as well for me (I keep that one on my nightstand and use it before bed) but I like that EOS are organic.
Honeysuckle Honeydew is my favourite one of the EOS balms that I tried. Smells soooo good, and it’s different than what I usually go for.
I totally agree with you, Kelly. These aren’t as heavy duty in terms of moisturizing as the Jack Black lip balms (also my gold standard)!
But I do like the lighter feel of these sometimes before I apply lipstick.

I’ve started from Strawberry Sorbet. It smells and tastes amazing. But I consider these more like lipstick base and a handy lipbalm to use on a go, but not smth I’d use to CURE chapped lips.
My favorite is sweet mint so far, I love how smooth and deliciously scented they are. I especially like the minty feel sweet mint leaves on my lips. My boyfriend liked mine so much he bought strawberry sorbet for himself. I do agree though that they don’t offer long lasting moisture. They also aren’t as travel friendly as regular lip balms because of the egg like shape. However I keep mine at my desk at work which makes it easy to reach for. Overall they’re fun to have around, but if you are looking for something that provides serious moisture I wouldn’t suggest this.
I ended up giving mine away about a week after I had gotten it last year. My lips were dried out and peeling within 15 minutes of applying.
I heard so much about these and it’s nice that they’re natural, but I have other natural lip butters that actually work. Made my lips drier.
I liked the Sweet Mint smell and flavor a lot, but I thought the Summer Fruit kind of smelled like cat pee? I’m weird about things that are peach scented/flavored, I guess.
Love the kitty paper! I have tried these in the past and did not care for them all that much. It’s too bad because they have such a nice variety of scents/flavors.

I still need to try this brand…I thought the egg shape would be too bulky in my night drawer and in my purses and the zillion places I stash balm cause I am chronically using it. I am a devote of Jack Black but it’s pricy and I go through a tube fast – but having come off using Fresh Sugar Jack Black seemed cheap! Now I have been using Aquaphor by Eucerna that I find really comparable to Jack Black and tons cheaper and way easy to find. I still have issues with the shape of these eggs taking up too much space….but I do need to try 1 just to see since so many folks seem to like them.
As much as I like the look of the EOS lip balms, I really dislike their performance. They don’t do anything for my dry lips and in fact, they make them a little worse sometimes. I really want to like them like a lot of other people do but I just can’t.

I’ve tried these before, but the shape is such a deal breaker, I haven’t used up either the one in my car, or the one in my bedroom yet. My cats think they own the one in the house anyway. It’s always missing
Have the lemon one in my purse and use it only occasionally.
I’m allergic to Jack Black which I tried because of all the great reviews.
Surprised at all the negative comments. I like these little guys a lot and use them regularly, esp. at home. Though I’ll admit they’re not super duper moisturizing.
