Stila Skincare for Spring 2013 Review

Stila Skincare

Did you know that Stila now has a skincare line out? Yes indeed, it’s new and it includes a gel cleanser, makeup wipes, skin scrub, toner, serum and moisturizing gel cream.

I recently had the chance to try out three of the new items and below are my thoughts about this new collection.

Stila Skincare Ready For Takeoff

Ready For Take Off Moisturizing Cleansing Cloths come in an easily portable pack and have 30 wipes per pack. They contain aloe, chamomile and lavender to moisturize your skin, and are made from 100% bio-degradable rayon.

For me wipes like these can usually either be really good or not good at all. Luckily my experience with these was mostly good!

First off they have a light “natural” scent, meaning they smell mostly like lavender, but not overly strong or fake. Each wipe is a good size (5.5″ x 8″) and it only takes one to remove all makeup, including waterproof versions.

All my makeup was easily removed except for one stubborn thing… I was wearing a waterproof eye liner and it did take a bit of effort to completely get it off. A little more effort than I would normally put into removing it, but eventually it did come off.

So the issue I normally have with makeup wipes is the feeling of my skin afterwards. I do not like anything that feels greasy or sticky on my skin, because then I will just wash it again, which defeats the purpose! Happily these wipes just made my skin feel really moisturized, but not oily or sticky at all. There was a slight lavender scent left over, which doesn’t bother me. They don’t dry my skin out at all or cause me any breaks-outs. Good stuff!

Stila Coming Clean and Glowing Reviews

Two more products I tried out were the Coming Clean Revitalizing Gel Cleanser and Glowing Reviews Gentle Skin Renewal Scrub.

Coming Clean Revitalizing Gel Cleanser is a soap-free gel cleanser that gives you a MAJOR lather once you add water to it. The details of what’s inside:

  • Alpine Rose Stem Cell Technology rejuvenates skin cells and provides antioxidant protection
  • Gentle sulfate-free cleansers won’t strip skin
  • Hyaluronic Acid helps boost moisture retention for ultimate hydration
  • Botanical extracts nourish, hydrate and enhance circulation
  • Essential oil blend nourishes & soothes, reduces inflammation and reinvigorates dull skin while enhancing radiance and diminishing dark spots
  • Natural Beta-glucan reduces inflammation and moisturizes
  • Made with love & without synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens or phthalates
  • Ideal for sensitive skin

Alrighty then, here’s my take. Even with all the talk about how moisturizing this stuff is, it dried my skin out the couple times I used it. Right now my skin is on the more dry side, thanks to age and Retinol treatments. I did like how much it lathered (a lot!) and it most definitely got off all traces of my eye and face makeup. It has a minty scent and kind of makes your skin tingly. But afterwards, once it was washed off, my face felt pretty tight and dry. So if you tend to have dry skin, this might not be for you. Otherwise it worked really well!

Glowing Reviews Gentle Skin Renewal Scrub is a gentle purifying scrub. The deets:

  • Alpine Rose Stem Cell Technology rejuvenates skin cells and provides antioxidant protection
  • Hyaluronic Acid hydrates and strengthens skin’s moisture barrier
  • PowerFruitMulti Complex promotes healthy cell renewal
  • Phyto-marine derived extracts nourish skin with omega essential fatty acids 3, 6, & 9
  • Essential oil blend nourishes & soothes, reduces inflammation and reinvigorates dull skin while enhancing radiance and diminishing dark spots
  • Made with love & without synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, sulfates, parabens or pthalates
  • Ideal for sensitive skin

First off the scent of this scrub is a nice light lavender. The scrubby beads are really small and gentle. It feels like a really soft scrub, nothing harsh or painful going on here at all. In fact this might be the least “scrubby” facial scrub I have used yet. It made my skin feel softer after using it, and didn’t dry me out or make my face feel tight at all. I’ve only used it once, but so far so good!

Overall: I am a fan of the Ready For Take Off wipes and the Glowing Reviews scrub for sure. I did like the Coming Clean gel cleanser because it did a good job of taking off all my makeup, however it’s just too drying for my skin.

Availability: Stila, Ulta.

Pricing: Ready For Take Off ($15 for 30 wipes), Coming Clean ($22 for 4.2 oz), Glowing Reviews ($22 for 4.2 oz).

It’s a pity we can’t yet smell over the computer, it would be so nice to be able to smell the lavender scent. :-)

I’m liking the ingredients, lack of parabens/sulfate/mineral oil, and the price is reasonable. I may have to check it out!

Ah that’s great Stila is still cruelty-free, I hadn’t checked in a while. I’ve never really been one for high end skincare, so I’d probably pass on these products

I’m lost on why anyone would spend $15 on 30 wipes but I’d try the other two items!

I really like Stila, but I get the feeling I would have a similar reaction to the gel cleanser. I have fairly dry skin and from your experience, I think my skin might feel dried out after using it. The scrub is very intriguing, though!

My friends introduce this skincare brand to me. At first, I notice that my friends has a clearer face now and i start asking what beauty products they are using. They told me that nothing so expensive just a facial wash and moisturiser. They even told me the brand name I figure it out there are more products of Stila it includes cleanser, scrubs and I think there’s a lot of more. to make the story short I already have a facial wash and It more than a week now that since I’ve been using it and I could say it controls and lessen the oily parts of my skin.
