Physicians Formula Sexy Booster Sexy Glow Blush and Bronzer for Spring 2013 Swatches & Review

Physicians Formula Sexy Booster collection for spring 2013 includes two new Sexy Glow Blushes and Sexy Glow Bronzers. And I DARE you to resist this packaging!
Sexy Glow Blushes come in Natural and Rose and the bronzers in Light Bronzer and Bronzer. So what makes this stuff so sexy? According to PF, they include a seductive fragrance and pheromone-mimicking ingredients. Get this, one of them is called…HORNY GOATWEED. I am not kidding that’s what the press release says. So what on earth is that? It’s derived from ancient Chinese medicine and claims to be an aphrodisiac for men and women. It also contains vanilla and musk, as well as cocoa extract (the “love chemical”) and Androstadienone and Muricine Aglycone, which are clinically tested pheromone-like ingredients. They are also all hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, paraben free and gluten free.
Hmmm I don’t know about all that, but did I mention how cute they are?

They all conveniently have a little hidden storage area below that contains a mirror and applicator brush.

Natural, Rose, Light Bronzer
Natural is a peachy pink shimmery shade.
Rose is a classic pink shimmery shade.
Light Bronzer is a pale golden bronzer shade.
The blushes come with two shades (the shoe is a different shade) but these are all blended together, since they will wind up that way eventually anyway. They aren’t SUPER pigmented, but softer, which is kind of nice. You can build them up. They are very shimmery and create a blush/highlighter effect at once.
The Light Bronzer is a really great shade for fair ladies (or men!). It’s also duo-toned and together it creates a perfect shade for fair folks. Warm, but not too warm and definitely not too deep, orange or brown.
Overall: Damn this cute packaging. It’s so cute that I was sent Light Bronzer and Rose for review, but I had to go out and purchase Natural because I wanted them both. Aside from that the blushes are nice, soft shades, but they are super shimmery. The bronzer is a good one for lighter skin tones, but again, very shimmery. I honestly don’t care a lick about all that pheromone stuff, if it’s true or not. I choose makeup because I like the shades and quality and packaging, not for all this other stuff, which seems a bit gimmicky to me. Horny Goatweed…
Availability: Drugstore.com, Ulta, Rite Aid, etc.
Pricing: Blushes ($11.95), Bronzers ($13.95).
Are these calling your name? How do you feel about the claims this makes and does it affect your decision to buy them (or not)?

Damn you Physicians Formula! They got me last time with those quite heart blushes and bronzers and I literally used them twice because I was too afraid of getting rid of those adorable hearts. Weren’t the heart ones supposed to have pheromone crap as well? Anyway, I might pick up one but knowing myself that means all.

Haha, I also fell for the cute heart blushes when they came out. So pretty in the package, and I loved the shade, too. Win-win!
Now these are also so cute. I may have to get the one with high heels just to look at…haha!

I love the natural shade! I am very pale a (pale enough that I have to use peach blush as a bronzer–lol) and anything too dark makes me look like I am taking a trip to the 80′s.
I love that they are making a lighter special edition shade!
I sort of hate the “sexy booster” branding (and packaging for that matter), but the products look quite nice. I hadn’t used very many PF products generally, but have tried a bunch of the new releases, and I’m generally quite impressed with the quality!

I take the pheromone boosting claims with a grain of salt, but props to PF for the packaging! Probably too shimmery for me though.

I love the packaging, but would probably pass on them.
So cute! I wonder if I can find them in Canada somewhere…
Also, horny goat weed? I haven’t seen that since it was a weird ingredient in a Sobe drink!

These looks really fantastic! I have the Happy Booster blushes in both of these colors and I really, really love them. The Natural in particular is my go-to. As such, I probably won’t run to buy these because I have those & they are similar, but I’d check them out if I need to re-purchase.
I like the bronzer, too. I rarely ever use bronzer because it kind of scares me, but this one looks like it’d be great for us pale peeps!
I dunno about all this “sexy boosting” business…nor do I really care, I guess. WIth the Happy ones, I like the smell and the heart design, but that’s about all I get out of all that marketing. Probably the same would be true, here, too.
Horny Goat Weed! When I worked in a drugstore as a teenager we had capsules of that in the supplements aisle – we used to joke about it all the time.
I bought one of the blushes not because of any sexy boosting properties, but because I love shoes. I had to have the shoe blush.
How funny! I saw these at Wal-Mart tonight and almost bought one! They had a couple of other new cute PF products too…thanks for the swatches!
Oh gosh, the packaging is adorable!! Probably won’t pick up any item but they’re damn cute none the less. I like the coloring too though, nothing too drastic but I don’t like overly shimmery products. I think that’s the deciding factor for me for passing these up.

I bought the blushes and ended up hating them. Too shimmery and I could not get past the scent. I LOVE the Happy Booster ones that smell like sweet violets, though.
Yes, I absolutely need all three of these! Physicians Formula has been my go-to bronzer for a few years, can’t wait to try the new ones.
