NARS Disco Inferno Nail Polish Swatches & Review

NARS Disco Inferno

NARS Disco Inferno is a new limited edition polish in their spring 2013 collection.

Disco Inferno in the bottle looks to be a shimmery duochrome showing silver, lavender, green and blue shades. But does it look as cool on the nail as in the bottle?

Let’s find out.

NARS Disco Inferno 2

NARS Disco Inferno Swatch
Disco Inferno

On the nail Disco Inferno looks to be mostly a silvery lavender shimmer. You don’t really see much of the duochrome effect you see in the bottle, even under different lighting. The formula is really quite sheer. I used three coats to cover and the tips still weren’t as covered as I normally like.

Overall: I was disappointed that the duochrome effect that seems very strong in the bottle wasn’t very apparent on the nail. Also the polish is very sheer, I prefer more saturation.

Availability: NARS.

Pricing: $18.00.

What do you think, is Disco Inferno your style or no?

-Kelly

Note: NARS is cruelty free.

This reminds me a loooot of the one that came out with the Katy Perry collection for OPI. However, NARS formula far surpasses OPI’s so maybe I’ll check this one out!

Looks so much less exciting on the nail. I’m kinda bummed; saw the bottle shots and they were so cool. I’ll be skipping this one.

I wonder if this will look cooler layered. It’s true that it doesn’t seem too impressive on its own!

It reminds me of Butter London Knackered, but without the holo glitter.

      Yes!

Elle polish (you find it at Kohls for $10) Dancing Queen looks to be an almost exact dupe of this. Also, I think Revlon Smouldering is nearly identical. I usually love NARS, but I won’t need this because I already have butter LONDON knackered, which is similar but with a lovely holo glitter.

I have had a few polishes like this, this looks to be the weakest. Not Like The Movies by OPI was much better done!

It kind of reminds me of a discontinued OPI, How to Jamaica Million but without the coverage. However, I have been desperately missing it so it may be worth a shot.

I don’t think I’ll buy it because it’s not really my cup of tea but it is a really pretty polish! :)

Your swatches look more opaque than many I’ve seen of this – maybe most bloggers are doing two instead of three. It definitely looks better in your swatches! I like this, but I think Wet n Wild Gray’s Anatomy is similar enough for me.

I wonder how this one would look layered under black? Would the magic really show like butter LONDON Knackered? Hmm.

So many dupes of this: WnW, DL, to name a couple.

I don’t own any NARS polishes, but I love the iridescence of this shade.

I’d be so curious to see this layered over a dark base.

I like how this looks – I hate the price point of Nars – not worth it to me. This is a lot like OPI Brand New Skates from 2008 which I have and have wore a ton.

It reminds me of OPI Not Like the Movies. That one didn’t have a good formula either, but at least it was 10 bucks cheaper.

I’m not into silver right now and I definitely don’t think it looks worth the NARS price. Thanks for these swatches!

Disappointed you didn’t like it that much. I normally love Nars polished. Guess I’ll pass on this one.

It looks a lot like a Revlon polish to me. Same tone, same duo chrome in the bottle, same failure of duo chrome on the nail.

Have you tried layering it over black? I have a Sinful Colors polish that looks very very sinilar to this, and it looks awful on the nail… until you layer it over black. It turns a lovely peacock-green color that looks royal blue in some lighting! It woukd be a shame to never wear an $18 dollar polish again, it’s worth a shot.

Pretty color, but it reminds me a lot of Wet n Wild’s Gray’s Anatomy, which is way more affordable.

  • January 21, 2013

Ohh, very futuristic! I like it, although it’s always a little disappointing when duochrome doesn’t translate quite as much on the nail as in the bottle.
