Misa High Society for Winter 2012 Swatches, Review & Giveaway!
Misa High Society is the latest from the brand and features six new shades: three super amazing shimmers and three deep cremes.
I didn’t really expect some of these to be as good as they are! The shimmers looked pretty nice in the bottle, but they are much better than I thought. They are so deep and rich. The cremes as well were thick, creamy and smooth. I only needed two coats for all of them. Excellent formula as per usual for this very under-rated brand (one of my fav brands).

Well-Heeled Grey, Bourbon On The Rocks, Uptown Glamour
Well-Heeled Grey
Well-Heeled Grey is in fact a deep smokey purple/grey with heavy shimmer. The shimmer is purple, red and blue. The edges tend to look greyish and murky. So pretty, creamy and shimmery.
Bourbon On The Rocks
Bourbon On The Rocks is a deep blackened red/orange shimmer. This one is amazing in person! It’s incredibly deep, and looks like it’s on fire. Really gorgeous shade, reminds me a lot of some of the old Duri shades I love so much. The camera does not do it justice, it’s mesmerizing.
Uptown Glamour
Uptown Glamour is dark blackened purple/blue/red. This is really hard to describe because the base is like an inky blue but the shimmer is red and purple. But also somehow blue. Incredible shade, reminds me a lot of OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest (I haven’t compared them yet).
Tailored Taupe, Trust Fund, It Girl
Tailored Taupe
Tailored Taupe is a very dark taupe/brown creme. Ok it’s not really taupe, more like a medium chocolate brown. Either way it’s really shiny, creamy and smooth. Love it because I love me some good brown nail colors!
Trust Fund
Trust Fund is a medium/deep grey creme. It’s a blue-ish grey shade and applied a bit sheer at first but really two coats is all you need. In certain lighting it almost looks like a green/grey color. Nice!
It Girl
It Girl is a very dark vampy purple creme. Nearly looks black, but not quite. Again, super creamy formula and smooth as glass. Maybe not unique though.
Overall: Well I think you can tell that the shimmers were my favorites here. All three are just gorgeous shades but I especially am enamored with Bourbon On The Rocks and Uptown Glamour. I have no complaints about the cremes, but I don’t think the shades are quite as interesting.

I’m about halfway through “Perfume: The Story of a Murderer.” It’s really interesting, there’s a lot of information about scent making, perfumeries in 1700′s (I think) France, and yes some murders.

Have been great so far. I wanted to ask you to join me on twitter I m helping to sign petitions against animal cruelty and put scumbags in jail. Like the one that burned that puppy alive wont repeat his name to not make him more famous. I feel that helping with this causes help those that are still alive. I think we need to work together , everyday we hear more atrocities done to poor dogs and cats It is just disgusting. Spread the word RT , Sign, denounce and help. It is so great feeling triying to help them those without voice to stand for themselves. At the same time is painfull to see how Humans can be how cruel and more if they have used drugs.

Well, I’ve almost finished a lovely little book called Zombies vs. Unicorns. It’s a collection of zombie and unicorn short stories, and I really love it! All the authors manage to be inventive with their respective subjects, and turn the cliches on their heads. I highly recommend it!

I always read a lot, and am fortunate enough to do it for work as well as play since I record audio books for a living. I am currently working on a great biography of Ella Fitzgerald, which makes me appreciate the nuances of jazz more – and hey, that ties in nicely with bourbon as well, both the drink and the street
2013 so far…the year of the migraine that put me in the fetal position. Labrador barking as I type this because I’m not paying attention to him. Obviously that barking does wonders for the migraine situation.

Lovely collection. I have a NP related resolution for 2013. I am going to try to be more selective when it comes to buying polishes this year. My personal collection has bloomed over the last year and I really need to pull in the reins. If I purchase anything from this collection it would be Bourbon On The Rocks – it is the most unique and I don’t think I have anything like it already.
Really nice colors here! I was thinking the same about the OPI dupe possibility! So far my 2013 has been full of headaches and migraines, not cool. Hopefully it won’t stay that way!

I love the trust fund color and Bourbon on the rocks. As part of my New Year’s Resolutions, I am going to pull my polish out of their boxes and use them for a change. My new year (all seven days of it) has been pretty lovely so far. I’ve spent the entire thing with my guy, we were house-sitting for his best friend for about a week. It was like an amazing little vacation.
I had my first ever meaningful New Years kiss, too! And since mid-August I’ve just been visiting him and I’m a little shocked to say he hasn’t gotten sick of me yet, and neither has his very loving family. All in all, I think this is going to be one of the best years yet!
Ironically, my favorite color here is Bourbon on the Rocks. Ironic, because my guy’s tumblr is serotonin-on-the-rocks.
Although Well-Heeled is a super intriguing color, I love that it greys out when it’s not in direct light. How uniquely gorgeous is that!?

I just started reading “The Passage” by Justin Cronin. I’m only slightly intimidated by the fact that it’s nearly 800 pages, and it’s book one of three. LOL
2013 marks my last semester of my undergrad and, later in the year, my first semester of medical school. So I’m hoping this is my year!!!
The shimmers are pretty stunning! I’ve been wanting to try Misa for years but I haven’t been much for ordering nail polish online so I haven’t yet.
As for my year so far, my husband has just left for a month long class which sucks. The upside though is that I’ll be spending part of it with my family who I haven’t seen in 2 years, so I’m obviously pretty excited about that!
we dont get any Misa here in Mexico, its a shame :/

Back in middle school, a friend and I did a nail polish swap, and she gave me a near empty bottle of Misa. It was the first square shaped nail polish bottle I had ever seen. The color was Merry Widow – this really bright pink. It became my sister’s favorite and I’m so glad I kept it because it was a goopy mess and I didn’t know what to do with it until I became obsessed with nail blogs and found out about nail polish thinner.

2013 started off with me being locked out of the house I was dog sitting for and having to call a locksmith!! Not the best start but could have been worse! These polishes are now on my wish list which is getting dangerously long!

I’m reading the fantasy series Kingdoms of Thorne and Bone – not bad, but not near as great as GOT.
I really love this collection from Misa! This brand is always so good. I recently finished reading A Dance With Dragons by George RR Martin, and I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

I love your blog. Whenever I try to see a swatch of a polish, I immediately search for yours. 2013 is starting off just OK for me – it has been very cold here in NH; warming up this weekend. I haven’t had a chance to read much, but I’ve owned a Kindle for several years and download lots of free books. I don’t usually make goals, but for 2013, I would like to try to expand my experience with nail polish and try different brands besides drugstore brands. My 2013 wasn’t that great until Sunday morning, when I found out the NHL lock out had ended! I finally get to see my team play again for the first time since May!
The shades are gorgeous and makes me wish Misa’s available around my area. I’m currently reading Falling Angels by Tracy Chevalier and I definitely recommend it. Have a lovely year ahead

My New Year’s resolution is to wear makeup more often. I really haven’t bothered since the pregnancy and birth of my kid. I’d forgotten how wearing even a little nude eyeshadow can make you feel more pretty, put together and ready to face the day!
Uptown Glamour and Well-Heeled Grey are my faves in this collection!
And talking about new year resolutions, I have only one: to move abroad! I hope I can do it as soon as possible.

I love these colors so much. this is my last semester of college. Its going to be the most testing semester yet because I have to take extra credits to not pay for extra classes. My resolution is to be brave and dive into my fear of this semester and conquer the bumps that lay in my road.
I really loved Uptown Glamour! I think this collection is perfect. I’m not one to wear bright colors on my fingers (save the neons for the toes) so this would be perfect for me!
Sigh, I love dark colors. I wear them all year round, not just in the winter. I started wearing black in my awkward tween phase and my mom would comment on how I was “trying to look gothic” or how it “was just a phase”, but my love for dark polish has persisted into adulthood. I’ve since branched out into purples and blues, in fact purple is my favorite polish color now, but really anything dark will do.
Well-heeled grey is so gorgeous! That is the one I’m lemming.

2013 has been good to me so far. My job situation has a sudden change. Like Parks & Rec level sort of better. I’ve been itching for a new adventure. If some real life representation of Ron Swanson also graces me with his/her presence in this new career direction it would be icing on the cake.
I have three resolutions this year: to be healthier; to play more poker; and to purge a little bit of my polish stash.

I just got my new running shoes in (Nike Free), I am hoping to start running, I got mp3s that help you (with when to run and take a walking break, and music with the ‘right’ bpm). Since I already do quite intensive training twice a week I don’t know if I will be able to also do running three times a week, but I hope so. Another one of my resolutions for this year is also to learn Japanese! It is really something you have to plan and make time for (like a few evenings a week, really study for an hour), so I really have to do that too, haha. And then I am also finishing up on my Master this year, so that also means that I have to look for a job! Lots of wants and have-to’s this year! (And now I’m probably blabbing too much!)
Oh goodness I want these so badly! Every single one of them are right up my alley!

We bought an old house, and are remodeling it. We hope to get ALL the drywall up this winter. My kitties think we have gone nuts. First we tear out all the walls, then we put them back up,. They spend most of the day hiding in the closets, lol, poor dears.

My first resolution for the year was to recover from the miserable cold with which I ended 2012 and began 2013. I’ve nearly accomplished my resolution.

I’m now intrigued with the “The Book Thief” that D mentioned. But until then, I have a ton of books on my bookshelves that I need to delve into first. I have a heart wrenching book that I want to read, but I don’t know if I want to start off the new year reading that one. I’ll probably start with something else like “Fireflies in December”.
Reading is actually one of the things I want to work on and do more of in this new year.
I’m going to try and buy less makeup this year and put that $ towards going to more metal shows.

These colors are so pretty and would love to try this brand. I have heard of it but have bought any of this brand.
So far 2013 is good. I’m back at school which means waking up at 6 am again :[ but so far i love my classes and my professors. I have a class with one of my favorite professors, and this is my third class with him so I’m pretty excited.

My 2013 is going well! I’m planning a baby shower for my sister and my newest hobby is engraving glass (handwriting on glass). This nail polish collection looks incredible!!
So far my 2013 has consisted of a very persistent head cold. Hopefully the rest of the year will turn out better.

Misa polish bottles are my first bottle shape ideal. They’re just perfection imo. It’s also nice that the polish IN the bottles is usually gorgeous as well.
My 2013? Well, I was supposed to be married on Dec 29, 2012 but my fiancé called me at 6am on the morning of from the hospital as he was being wheeled into his CT scan! Turns out he needed an emergency appendectomy and our entire wedding and honeymoon had to be cancelled. I’m still pretty sad about it but am cheering myself up by fantasizing about winning new nail polishes! Is it wrong that the worst part of canceling the honeymoon is that I didn’t get to indulge at CCO? I don’t have one in Edmonton, and was soooo looking forward to discounted, discontinued cosmetics shopping!!!
I don’t usually look twice at most reds. I have so many nail polishes, that I swear i have every shade of red there is! That red (Bourbon on the rocks) though, is truly gorgeous. It really does seem to be lit from within. Wow.

i love these! especially uptown glamour and trust fund. TF reminds me of Beyond Jealous from the nail collab JS Choi did with MAC in the fall of 2009. i loved that so well and then passed it off to a friend but would love to have something similar back in my stash ^^

2013 started by me destroying my nails. Ugh, what a shame. So, for the rest of the year I’m going to try not to do that again. I’ve also begun a pretty healthy obsession with accumulating nail polishes. Ha! Of course.
Well-Heeled Grey looks like another paradoxal dupe, but so pretty. My fav is Burbon on the Rocks a must have. Does anyone know any retailers that sell MISA in the midwest?

As a child, I’ve always had a bad habit for nail biting till I decided for my 2012 new years resolution, I would stop biting my nails and take more care of them . Now its 2013, I have got to say it was easier than what I thought. I thought I wouldn’t have been able to stop the habit! But it just goes to show anything is possible if you put your mind to it.
During last year, I actually became really into nail polish and have been collecting since the summer. I have also attempted to do nail art and my most favorite so far has to be leopard print. I’m hoping to create my own blog to post pictures of my nail art and show people how my nail art has progressed.
This collection is amazing! All 6 colours are really nice there’s none of them I can fault. This brand is definitely under-rated, its a shame they don’t sell it in my area.
My 2013 new years resolution will certainly be to carry on looking and try out Misa Nail Lacquers.

I’ve gotten addicted to shinies as these as due to occasional hand eczema my hands are pretty scarred, even my scars have scars, at least pretty nails distracts me from that. Last year my fingers were itching like mad for the final 3-4 months and only recently healed.
I had tried everything AND the kitchen sink to fix it. Working in an organic store with many friendly customers, I got the one home remedy after the other flung at me.
The only thing I refused to try was a nice lady’s reccomendation of boiling one’s own urine and using it as ointment.
I don’t shake hands with her anymore.

I’m pretty exited about this upcoming year! I just had a baby in October and so I have decided this is going to be my year to change from frumpy only take care of the kids needs momma into a hot momma and not only physical changes are happening (oh nooo) I’m going to finish college and start my career!!! So expect great things from this woman world by December 31, 11:59pm I will be nothing less than Amazing in every aspect o the word! Oh and by the way amazing polish I’m in love!!

My new year is starting to get better as I kicked off the new year with the really bad respiratory cold thing that has been going around to everyone it seems. I just went back to school for my (hopefully) last semester before I get my Bachelor’s degree. Hope the year is being kind to you so far as well.
My new years resolution is to lose weight, it is every year but this year I am engaged and planning my wedding…Hopefully that’s enough motivation to help me stick with..:-)

My year is ok so far. I’m dealing with annoying horrible anemia but so far it’s going great otherwise. I’m talking more with old friends from high school and doing good on my new years resolution so, so far so good.
