MAC Apres Chic Collection Swatches & Review

MAC Après Chic is a new limited edition collection featuring some new Mineralize goodies.
Inside Après Chic you will find five Lipsticks (Warm Companion, Cozy Up, Haute Attitude, Après Chic, Hot Chocolate), five Mineralize Tinted Lip Balms ( Stay Warm!, Slightly Nude, Pure & Tender, Nice & Simple, Rosy Romance), two Nail Lacquers (Hangin’ Loose, Dangerously Fun), five Pro Longwear Eye Liners (Black Ice, Rich Experience, Mountain Air, Night Trail, Snow Shadow), five Mineralize Eye Shadows (Ice, Winter Pursuit, Silver Birch, Frost At Midnight, Fireside), three Mineralize Blushes (Amber Glow, Alpine Bronze, Gentle) and two Mineralize Skinfinishes (Porcelain Pink, Stereo Rose).
I have just a few items from the collection so let’s dig in!

Frost At Midnight, Ice

Frost At Midnight, Ice

Ice, Frost At Midnight
Ice is a pale peachy/gold shade. This one had pretty great pigmentation and it’s a nice neutral shimmery color.
Frost At Midnight is a medium purple/grey shade. This one wasn’t quite as dark or pigmented as I expected. The shades when blended together create a medium smokey purple shade. It would probably be much more intense used wet.

Black Ice

Stay Warm!, Warm Companion

Black Ice, Warm Companion, Stay Warm!
Black Ice Pro Longwear Eye Liner is a deep black shade. It’s not as jet black as say Feline, but very black nonetheless. It definitely stays put better than Feline on me!
Warm Companion Lipstick is a frosty peachy/gold shade. Kind of unusual and weird, but I like it. It doesn’t look too frosty on, more shimmery.
Stay Warm! Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm is a light pink shade. It looks in the tube like it has a lot of gold shimmer, but really you don’t see it on the lips. It’s very sheer so it basically looks like a glossy clear coat on me.

Warm Companion

Stay Warm!

Hangin’ Loose, Dangerously Fun

Hangin’ Loose
Hangin’ Loose is a warm-toned beige/champagne with subtle shimmer. This was a bit patchy on me, even after three thin coats.

Dangerously Fun
Dangerously Fun is a cool-toned blood red creme. Nice deep shade, very even with two coats but not unique.
Overall: Nothing I tried really blew me away in terms of uniqueness here. The Eye Shadows are nice as is the Eye Liner, but nothing made me very excited. I feel like the Tinted Lip Balms are really expensive for the amount you get (0.33 oz is $19.50).
Availability: Now until February 6th.
Pricing: Mineralize Eye Shadow ($21), Pro Longwear Eye Liner ($19.50), Lipstick ($15), Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm ($19.50), Nail Lacquer ($16).
What do you think about Apres Chic? Boring or interesting?

Nothing here that would prompt me to seek them out.

I like the Black Ice eyeliner, the Stay Warm lip gloss and the Dangerously Fun nail polish, but really not for the prices.
Sorry, but I find it boring…
Not really creative at all… We’ve seen it before so to speak…

I do like the lip gloss, but definitely not worth the price. I also like that red polish, but as you said it’s not very unique. A pretty *meh* collection I think. Thanks for swatching =)

The nail varnishes are getting lame :/ I like the eye shadows but nothing to write home about.
The gloss looks so pretty in the tube, too bad it’s so sheer

Yeah, I was also interested in the gloss, but then the sheerness was disappointing. So now I’m leaning more toward the lipstick.

I never thought MAC would produce such a safe and boring collection. Where’s the edgy quality gone?
“Ice” is a beautiful shade- definitely the only thing catching my eye here. Thank you for the swatches!

I really love that lipstick from your swatches! Peachy hues with gold really complement my skin tone, and I find that they’re a nice alternative to a flat, neutral hue that can sometimes look dead. Even though it’s nothing to reinvents the wheel, I’m really drawn to it! (I don’t have many lipsticks in general.)
It looks pretty on you, too, and I think a lot of people would be able to wear that colour or even have fun layering it over other lip colours.
Hmm…the last thing I bought was MAC Candy Yum-Yum (from the By Request Collection re-release). Since then, nothing has really caught my eye until now! Thanks for swatching and review all these products!
