Laura Mercier Arabesque Collection for Spring 2013 Swatches & Review

Laura Mercier Arabesque is the new color collection for spring 2013: Soft, sweet, serene.
The inspiration for this collection was taken from the nuances of ballerinas, and fluid moves of dancers. The collection is soft and feminine featuring a lot of pinks, blues and neutrals.
If you love blues especially, there might be some goodies in here for you!

Creme Eye Liner Noir, Canard, Violet

Canard, Violet, Noir
Canard is a deep teal blue. Super saturated and kind of a different blue than normal.
Violet is a deep blackened violet. Very pigmented.
Noir is a jet black. Super black!
I have to say these are some of the nicest creme liners I have ever used. I was blown away by how silky and creamy they were. I used Canard the other day (pic below) and even over a primer and eyeshadow, it glided on so incredibly smoothly. Amazing stuff. It did take a minute to completely dry, but once it did it didn’t budge at all for 8 hours easily. I also tried it on my upper waterline to test that. It did transfer a bit to my lower waterline and came off faster than on my eyelid.

Stone Grey Eye Pencil, Arabesque Creme Smooth Lip Colour

Navy Slate Faux Lash Mascara

Navy Slate, Stone Grey, Arabesque
Navy Slate is a deep navy blue shade. The wand is rather fluffy, but also pretty large. Usually I have issues with larger mascara wands not really getting “into” my lashes, but this one was pretty good. It made my lashes longer and fluttery looking without much clumping. It lasted all day without any flaking off.
Stone Grey is a deep blue-ish grey eye pencil. It has a rather hard texture so it took some work to get a good swatch. Love the shade but I wish it was a bit softer and creamier.
Arabesque is a warm ballet pink shade. It’s on the sheer side but slightly build-able. I like the shade but it does settle into lip lines fairly easily.

Arabesque

Wearing Canard Creme Eye Liner and Navy Slate Faux Lash Mascara.
Overall: From what I saw of the collection it seems like there are a lot of cool soft tones, which I like. All the Creme Eye Liners are incredible in terms of the deepness and saturation of the colors and the texture. Really great stuff, hopefully they don’t dry out quickly! The Faux Lash Mascara is nice and a dark enough blue that you don’t have to wear black underneath to deepen it. Even though Arabesque is lip-line-y, I really like the soft moisturizing feel of it and the shade. Not a huge fan of the Stone Grey Eye Pencil because it was rather hard, which is disappointing because I LOVE grey liners.
Availability: Nordstrom, Laura Mercier, Bergdorf Goodman.
Pricing: Creme Eye Liner ($22), Faux Lash Mascara ($24), Creme Smooth Lip Colour ($26), Eye Pencil ($20).
Now that you’ve seen some items from this collection, what are you liking or not liking? Do you love Canard like I do?

Those cream liners are unreal! They look so wet in the swatches. I’m assuming that’s what makes them apply so smoothly? It’s too bad Stone Grey doesn’t have a better texture. It’s such a pretty shade.

Canard looks so nice on you! I am not too sure about how long it takes to dry though. I am a little too scared I’d just open my eyes and make a whole mess!

Oh wow Canard looks unreal. I’m not sure if I’d wear it much but its definitely something I might want to splurge on. Violet looks great too but I have sooooo many purple liners. They’re my absolute favourite but I really don’t know that I need to add to the collection.
This seems like a great collection. I’m particularly interested in the cream liners. The colors are really beautiful.

Canard is GORGEOUS! That type of teal is my boyfriend’s favorite color.
The texture to the cream liners look great too.

I love Canard, it looks AMAZING on you! Also love what the mascara does for your lashes, they look so full and long. In fact they’ve been looking very full and long in the last few posts you have done showing eye looks, I’m curious what your secret is.
also love the look you did with the mascara and the crime liner, I feel the navy/blue black of the mascara would bring out my brown eyes without necessarily hinting “oh hey, I’m wearing blue mascara!” I like that it is subtle. I think I’ll be picking a few things up from this collection. Thanks for reviewing it!
No secret I actually probably don’t take as good of care of them as I should (I rub my eyes a lot!)
Sad about the lipstick and how it settles. It was the only thing in this collection I was interested in. The gel liners look nice, especially that teal, though your description of how wet they are give me a lot of pause.
The liner looks great on you! The lipstick would never work on me as I need something that fills in the lines not highlights them.

Canard and Violet looks so beautiful! I might pick it up
Lipstick colors like this are always sooo pretty in the tube, but of course far far too light to be flattering on me.

It’s a very “you” shade!
I LOOOOVE those cream eyeliners, they look gorgeous! But I don’t like the lipstick at all…

I’m a huge fan of eyeliner. I wear it daily! Hmm…but I’ve never tried any eyeliners from Laura Mercier. All of the ones you showed are colours I would wear any day.
Canard is a colour I adore for eyeliner because it really brightens up the eye area.
The only thing stopping me from buying all three shades is the price, unfortunately.
To be practical, I think I’ll just pick up the black first to try it out. Haha, but I’m going to need to wait much later to buy that after I did a lot of damage with my MAC Archie’s Girls purchases!

I think Canard is the most beautiful shade of teal I have ever seen. I wanted it from the moment you posted this, and finally I have it and it is even more lovely in person than I had hoped!!! I loooooove it!
Love the look of that teal eyeliner!
