There’s a blue Morpho butterfly species native to atlantic forests here where I live, in South of Brazil.
One of my fondest childhood memories was to spot HUGE specimens floating around the forests near my grandmother’s country house.
Yes, they do float, they are enormous they only flap their wings once in a while, very gracious. Too bad they’re endangered and only live in preserved forests, my mother sold the country house and I only saw one again while hiking in the mountain range forests.
This is so beautiful. It looks like something made of silk.

Could you imagine being out in the wild and having a rabble of butterflies like this just floating around? (heh new word for me–that’s what you call a “bunch of butterflies”)
I’ve been in butterfly houses and it is just so…..amazing. Especially when they land on you!
