MAC Making Pretty MAC Making Pretty Holiday 2012 Collection Swatches & Review

MAC Making Pretty for holiday 2012 is a really gorgeous looking collection featuring pink and rose gold packaging. SO cute!

It’s a small one including only an iridescent powder (Silver Dusk), three sheer powders (Light/Medium, Medium Plus and Dark Secret), two lipsticks (Runaway Red and 3N) and a face and eye brush set. You do pay for what you get in terms of packaging here – nothing is cheap!

Sheer Mystery Powder in Medium Plus, Dark Secret, Silver Dusk, Runaway Red (NC20 skin)

Unfortunately for me neither of the Sheer Mystery Powders are my shade. I would probably be Light/Medium. But they feel very finely milled and soft.

Silver Dusk Iridescent Powder is a loose, soft powder with Mica. It gives off a soft silvery/pink glow. Best packaging ever!

Runaway Red is a bright red satin lipstick. Great red shade.

Availability: Most everything is sold out online already but may still be available in stores.

Pricing: Silver Dusk ($65 for 0.51 oz), Sheer Mystery Powder ($65 for 0.28 oz), Lipstick ($28 for 0.15 oz).

Do you love this packaging? How about what’s inside, worth the price for you or no way?

  • Very pretty packaging but it’s not worth the price imo.

  • This collection would be too pretty to touch. Also, the price tag is a little too hefty for me. This is a pass.

  • The packaging looks kinda tacky but I do love the color and it looks really cool on the black tray in your first photo!

The packaging is super cute but the price is a little outrageous for me. This is one of the first things I’ve seen from mac that I’ve *wanted* but I will not buy their products until they switch to cruelty free.

  • The packaging IS the selling point for this collection! These pieces would look great on a white and pink vanity. LOL Those prices are outragious!!!

I like the packaging on this but the prices are a bit outrageous! I like how feminine & girly it looks. Has a bit of a retro feel to me!

  • I would love the sheer mystery powder for the stunning case but I can’t fathom paying $65+tax for a pressed power.

  • I love the packaging, so I will get something from this collection (it hasn’t been released where I live yet) for sure. It sure is expensive though!
