Is Jemma Kidd 24/7 Long-Wear Lip Colour in Femme a Perfect Nude?

Jemma Kidd Femme Lipstick

Jemma Kidd 24/7 Long-Wear Lip Colour in Femme is a really great “nude” shade. I put “nude” in quotes because as you know, nude is different for everyone depending on your skin tone.

24/7 Long-Wear Lip Colours are a semi-matte formula and contain macadamia and avocado oils to help moisturize your lips. They also have vitamins A, E and C for antioxidant protection.

This particular shade is only available at Target.

For some reason I cannot find my hand swatch anywhere, but this gives you a good idea what it looks like on the lips. My lips are fairly pigmented so this just adds a pinky/nude depth to them and some shine.

I tend to wear these kind of shades when I wear a lot of dark eyeshadow or liner on so I don’t look too over the top. Femme feels very comfortable on the lips, not dry, and it lasts for a few hours. There is no discernible scent or taste to it either.

The only bad thing about Femme is that it’s on the expensive side, especially considering you are buying it at Target where you expect to pay $4-5 for a lipstick. I was actually just at Target yesterday and saw a frilly top from their current Neiman Marcus/Target special going on. The top was SO cute and I would have been all over it but it was $79.00. I said to Mr. VV “If I am going to spend $80 on a top, I’ll just buy it at Neiman Marcus.” There is some kind of mental block going on spending that much there! :)

Availability: Target.

Pricing: $15.00.

Are you totally opposed to spending $15 on a lipstick just because where it is sold or does that not enter your thoughts if you really like it?

    Love this shade on you!

I was eyeing the same top (and the Marchesa dress for my niece) and ended up having the same reaction.

Yes, I admit I have issues spending that kind of money based on the store – especially if it’s not a “national” brand. For example, I know Essie is going to set me back about $8.00 no matter where I buy it, and so where I buy it doesn’t matter so much.

But for a brand sold only at a discount department store? For very little more (and sometimes less), I can get a known brand of lipstick – and by known I mean I know the quality and how it works on me.

Same with the clothes, frankly. If I’m looking for a piece where quality matters, and I’m prepared to pay for that quality, I’m going to go somewhere where I know my dollars will buy that quality – and customer service and a decent return policy. (What’s Target’s return policy on opened cosmetics?)

Target actually has an excellent return policy so long as you keep the receipt and return before the expiration date on the receipt (at least it’s like that in CA). I have super sensitive skin that can be reactive to stuff I put on it so a good return policy is important in case something makes my skin burn, sting, flake, break out, etc.

I probably wouldn’t spend $15 on a lipstick from anywhere, but especially not from a discount store. That is a nice color though.

That color really does look like the perfect nude, at least on you!

Wow that really may be the perfect nude. So pretty. But yeah the prices are too high for me to buy on a regular basis. Target clothes are usually only a good bargain if they’re on sale.

pretty but you’re right about the price
i’d rather just get something from mac
i feel like target’s raising their prices more and more so it’s less of a convenience store and more of an average store. good during sales, but some items are pretty pricy

I really love this kind of nude! The kind that just tints your lips without making you look dead. Gorgeous! xoxo

My Target is closing out the line. I bought some items as gifts because I know it’s a great line.
But I have the same mindset about Target. The thing is that at Neiman you will find almost nothing in the clothes dept. for $80, certainly not a great blouse.

This is a great everyday look for you, Kelly!

Hmm…we don’t have any Target stores here in Canada yet (soon, though), and I always thought they were supposed to be like a way better version of K-Mart. So I was pretty shocked to hear that the top you mentioned would be priced so high.

Hope they’re not trying to increase price points like that. I think the value of stores like Target (from what I’ve read about and seen online) is the affordability and being able to find trendy things at discount prices.

A lot of high end brands make a few pieces that are Target exclusives. Like a mini line “for Target” for example: Justin timberlake’s line did a few coats for Target. When you would usually find the coats for a lot more, they are sold at a discounted price. (Still super high for Target but cheap for the name brand) most of his coats were around $200. You usually wouldn’t find that price at Target unless it is a high end brand

I tell my nieces or ladies that are timid about drug store brands to give at least one tube/compact/bottle a try. At least if they don’t like it they didn’t waste more than their lunch money on it.

I’m afraid this season’s Target high-low line didn’t have enough design or thought. A bicycle for an overgrown 8 year old? Dog collars from…Oscar de la Renta? Little girl dresses and not lady dresses? Marc Jacobs slapped his name on some cheap looking zipper pouches? Bedazzled compacts that in no way are worthy of the Judith Leiber name? Also the Neiman Marcus-Target line has too many items on the floor. If it looked more exclusive it would be more desirable.

Not to completely knock the NM-T crossover. I did get the awesome cookie cutters. I would have grabbed the Jason Wu ornaments if I didn’t have such a terrible relationship with glass objects. I don’t have a problem with the Target high-low events. I still have my Jason Wu for Target bag that I covet. You be A+++++ WILL BUY AGAIN YAY!!!! all the time with these seasonal items.

I think this is a great color! I am totally with you on the $80 top at Target, I think they are getting out of hand with these collaborations. The reason I shop at Target is to find inexpensive, quality alternatives to pricey items!

for me it depends on how much i like the item. Of course there’s a limit, i wouldn’t pay 20 dollars for a 99 cents store lipstick. but i think i like this enough to buy it
