MAC Spring ’13 Forecast Lips & Eyes Palettes Swatches, Photos & Review

Yeah this is nuts but I am about to review something for Spring 2013! MAC Spring ’13 Forecast Eyes and Lips Palettes (limited edition) are already for sale on their site and while I was picking up some basics I needed (MAC Wipes in bulk for swatching and my beloved Fast Response Eye Cream) I saw these and couldn’t resist…
Both of these come with six shades in the palette and both are cremes…yep, the eyeshadows are their new Cream Colour Shadows. Let’s see what I thought of them upon first swatch.

Now Mustard!, Must Have Brown, Top Soil
Now Mustard! is a kind of greenish, muted mustard yellow shade. It’s on the pale side, but a nice shade.
Must Have Brown is more of a taupe grey/brown. Another shade I kind of like and actually I like it with Now Mustard!
Top Soil is a warm reddish brown. Decent shade, but wouldn’t work for me I don’t think.

Sunshine, April Mist, Runway Rose
Sunshine is a bright clean yellow. Very vivid and nicely pigmented.
April Mist is a pale greyed out light blue. Another one I kinda like.
Runway Rose is a pale candy pink shade.

Forecast Nude, Right On Orange, Strut The Cherry
Forecast Nude is a medium pinkish brown. A good neutral shade.
Right On Orange is a bright peachy orange shade. Looks brighter in the palette than on the lips.
Strut The Cherry is a medium bright pink, but very wearable.

Talking Tan, A Look In Lavender, Electric Spring
Talking Tan is a medium/deep brown shade. This looks darker in the pan than on my lips.
A Look In Lavender is a very cool-toned lavender. This is one of those hard to wear shades for a lot of people.
Electric Spring is a bright fuchsia pink. Nice shade but will stain lips!

Overall: Ok here are my thoughts. The Eyes palette has some really nice and interesting shades in it but I’m not sure how they will wear on the eye as I have yet to test them out. Usually cream shadows don’t wear as nicely or as long as powder ones, even over a primer, but we shall see. I also wonder how quickly they will dry out.
The Lips palette is nice, but didn’t blow me away. Most of the shades were pretty wearable but I don’t like how they settled into my lip lines. The good thing is they are amplified shades, so they are somewhat buildable. They don’t feel very moisturizing though, a little dry overall.
Availability: MAC.
Pricing: $40.00 for 0.21 oz each.
What do you think about the Spring ’13 Forecast Eye and Lip Palettes? Are these items you might pick up?

honestly its kind of uncreative. i expect better of mac!
The Forecast Lip Palette has such pretty shades. I would have picked it up if I was not so much into the dark, goth lip colours of winter haha.

I’ll be interested in hearing how the cream shadows perform. Not sure how I would the colors, please show some looks when you get around to wearing them!

The palettes remind me of Wet N Wild palettes only without the payoff of Wet & Wild. I’d love to be a fly on the wall when MAC staff/management are discussing the final products (and seemingly lack of quality). What happened to MAC??
I like the look of these, but am not totally blown away. I like the colors in the eye shadow palette, except for that weird brown.

Meh. Not impressed.
This is really a lackluster collection from what I’ve seen thus far, like someone else mentored wet’n'wild has significantly more pigmentation and for a fraction of the price. MAC I hope to see better things from you in the new year and less dupes.
I’m really not sure about it

most look like hard-to-wear colors, for me at lest.
I was excited by the preview pictures, but not by the swatches. I agree with everyone who said these will be hard to wear for a lot of people. I have never liked creme eyeshadows – they crease and wear off a lot faster. And, I would probably prefer the lip shades in lipstick form.
Thanks for swatching these for us!
It’s too bad that they really settle into fine lines because otherwise, these are nice shades.
Although I like the idea of lip palettes, I rarely use them because I tend to reach for stuff I can just swipe on from a tube. (The OCC Lip Tars are the rare exception just because their formula and colour pay-off is incredible!)
