Hard Candy has a whole ‘lotta new items out this fall at a Walmart near you.

The new items include: Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection (in neutral, smokey, green, blue and pink), Intensely Luminous Shadows (in 12 shades), Glossaholic Lip Gloss (4 new shades), Whipped Brightening Concealer (in four shades) and Skin Clarifying Concealer (in 4 shades).

The Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection in Naturally Gorgeous comes in a long narrow palette decorated with silver and black lace on the front. Inside is a skinny mirror, ten eyeshadow shades and two double-ended sponge applicators. Looks a bit like the Urban Decay Naked palette. The shadows do not have names.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (over primer)

The first one is a medium/pale pink/taupe.

The second is a pale icy pink.

The third is a super light champagne that barely shows up.

The fourth is a warm orange/gold.

The fifth is a medium warm brown.

These five shadows didn’t really have the best texture or payoff. A few were so pale I really had to work to get them to show up. The best one is the fourth shade, which was softer and more pigmented.

6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (over primer)

The sixth shadow is an intense reddish/brown.

The seventh is a medium warm pinky/brown.

The eighth is a medium/deep reddish brown.

The ninth is a medium olive green/brown.

The tenth is a deep cool-toned brown.

The pigmentation is a bit better with these darker shades, but some I still had to kind of work at a bit. The texture is still a little on the gritty/cheap feeling side. I’m not sure I like how a lot of the browns have orange and pink in them. I do like the last two shades here though.

Light Concealer, Icing Lip Gloss

Lite Bright Concealer is a click-pen style concealer. Light is the second lightest shade after Fair. But it’s actually too white and light for me. You do have to click for a bit to get the concealer going, but it’s not as much as some lip glosses I have used!

Glossaholic Icing Lip Gloss comes in a fat tube with a slanted sponge-tipped applicator. It’s a very pale peach shade with a lot of glitter. It’s basically a clear gloss on me with sparkly glittery bits. It smells like sugar, which is kind of nice!

Overall: There isn’t anything here I am dying over to be honest. While I like the concept of the eyeshadow collection, I didn’t feel the eyeshadow texture and payoff was very good for the most part. The concealer, while buildable, doesn’t come in a form I really like, and the shade was way too light for me to really test. I like some of the Glossaholic Lip Glosses, but Icing is so sheer it’s basically a clear with glitter. The underlying theme here is…not enough pigmentation! BUT everything is pretty inexpensive at least!

Availability: Walmart.

Pricing: Top Ten Eyeshadow Collection ($6 for 0.4 oz total), Lite Bright Concealer ($6 for 0.112 oz), Glossaholic ($5.00 for 0.38 oz).

What do you think about these new items from Hard Candy? Anything worth checking out in person for you?

The concealer looks pretty pigmented, too bad it’s so pale!

I really like nude, or natural palettes, because I use them a lot on an everyday basis. This one has too many brown shades for my taste. For being perfect FOR ME is lacking a matte light vanilla for highlighting and a cooler darker taupe (matte if possible). anyways… Hard Candy does not even retail in my country :S

That collection is kind of disappointing. The eyeshadows all have the same finish – I prefer some variety. It’s nice to have a drugstore option of a super pale concealer though – and it would probably work as a highlighter for me.

Hard candy is not my first choice but when I go to Walmart I always take a look the HC section they have some good products

  • November 12, 2012

I was really excited about the concealor. I was super pale and this might match my skintone! Do you know if they have matching foundation?

  • November 12, 2012

Too much brown. The gloss looks nice, the concealer is really pale, but would probably work on my skin tone. Not really impressive, but the price rocks. Too bad Walmart sucks.

There aren’t any Walmarts near me, so I’ve never actually come across Hard Candy in real life, but they seem like a great brand, I remember they said they’re really dedicated to never using animal testing. It’s nice they created really light shades in their concealer, I know finding super pale shades can be as hard as super dark shades. I feel like these could be pretty natural highlighers too – I sometimes use the Clinique Airbrush one for that. When my clinique one runs out, maybe I’ll look into this one.

I’m with you, Kelly. While I see a lot of nice things here, nothing is really calling out to me. Thank goodness… 😉 I need to start saving a bit more with Christmas coming right around the corner.

someone’s trying to copy Urban Decay’s Naked palette

  • November 13, 2012

Thanks for the review- I”m glad I passed on this palette when I saw it a couple of days ago.

  • November 13, 2012

That eye shadow palette isn’t something I’d use, but the price is right for someone who wants to experiment with those type of colors. $6?

  • November 13, 2012

The gloss is too pricey for a low end brand. Black Radiance has great pigmentation for almost half the price. The shadows are nice, but I have similar colors from Wet n Wild. I don’t use liquid concealer, so that is also a not for me. :(

I haven’t bought Hard Candy in so long, but I do love their concealer palette!

Ooooooooo! I definitely want to check out the concealer! I currently use NARS concealer in Chantilly (the lightest shade) and while I love it, it would be nice to have a whipped liquid option like the Light Bright concealer. I am very pale so I’m always on the lookout for products offered in very light shades. I can’t wait to see Fair and Light in person! Thanks so much for the review! 😀

I saw the new Hard Candy display area at Walmart today actually and there wasn’t a spot for nail polish anymore! :( I did see the new row dedicated to the Top Ten Eyeshadow Collections though they were completely sold out with the exception of one pale pink/light purple palette so I didn’t really get to look at them. I’m not into the kind of formula/texture described in your review though so I’ll skip these. There is something off about the colors in this palette…they’re kinda yucky. 😛 I saw lots of new Glossaholic glosses but none of the colors really floated my boat. I prefer glosses that have colorful bases. Totally agree with the lacking pigment theme here. :/

Oh well, hopefully I’ll find a new concealer that I can add to my pale arsenal, lol! 😀 I hope so much that one of the shades works for me. I’ll need to check out the ingredient list first though as my skin is also sensitive. Thanks again! <3

I really want to try the concealer since I have a hard time finding anything light enough. I don’t know how I feel about clicky pens though. I still haven’t found a good way to keep them sanitary.

Hi Melody! I too have a hard time finding shades light enough to match my skin tone. Right now I use NARS Concealer in Chantilly and NARS Sheer Glow Foundation in Siberia. Both are really great! I wanted to try the Hard Candy concealer though because I thought it would be nice to have another option. I left a long comment below yours about the shade I tried (504 Fair) if you want to check it out. :) Hope it’s helpful! :)
