Cult Nails Behind Closed Doors Fall/Winter 2012 Collection Swatches & Review
The new Cult Nails Behind Closed Doors collection features five new shimmery, intense shades. These shades were inspired by some of Maria’s friends, and there are some real beauties here.
The collection will be offered as a whole from November 9-15th during a preview release sale for $40.00. Starting on November 16th, you can buy the bottles separately for $10.00 each.
Disciplined
Disciplined is a sheer grey with heavy pink and blue shimmer. It’s sheer, but buildable. I love how soft it looks, yet it’s filled with so much shimmer. Really kind of an unusual and pretty shade. This was three coats.
Flushed
Flushed is AMAZING. It starts off a little sheer but easily builds into this incredible purple/blue base with glowing pink/purple shimmer. With the first coat I wasn’t all that impressed to be honest. But after two I started to see where it was going. Then after three I was like, holy crap! I love this one. If you could only get one, this would be a great choice.
Afterglow
Afterglow is a medium coppery brown with pink shimmer. This is another shade you don’t see that often and I really like it. This was three coats.
Bitten
Bitten is a reddish/pink with heavy pink shimmer. I love how sparkly and rich this one looks. It’s another one that looks like it’s glowing. This was three coats.
Coveted
Coveted is a deep but bright green jelly with green shimmer and green flake glitter. Since it’s a jelly, it does go on sheer but you build it up to get the intensity you desire. I think I might have preferred it without the flake glitter but that’s just my personal preference. This was three coats.

you’re right, the green flakes ruin a gorgeous glowy green shimmer! i love all the others, but the reddish pink doesn’t look too unique

Yeah I just prefer no glitter in that one, it looks cleaner somehow.
I really like Afterglow, Flushed and Disciplined. I am concerned about the sheerness..usually I try to buy polish that requires no more than two coats. These are really pretty!
For me three coats is standard for almost all polishes. Anything above that then I get annoyed, haha.
The entire collection is GORGEOUS but Afterglow and Flushed are really calling my name.

Afterglow, Flushed and Disciplined are beautiful shades! Flushed reminds me of a Rimmel polish I have called Night Before though maybe a slightly lighter purple.
To me, the one that stands out most is Disciplined. Such a unique shade. They all are really fun and creative, though. So many nail polish companies out there now, so it’s really cool when shades are different than what I’ve seen before

Bitten and Flushed are getting my eyeballs popping! But this might just be a collection I spring for the entire set of. I missed the timing on the pre-order – so will put it on my calendar for the 9th now. I need to pick up some from the last Cult collection of those great toppers. Great photos – thanks

Well I’ll be the dissenter. I don’t like any of these. They are all too similar to other colors out there for much cheaper. I think Cult Nails has run out of original ideas. I look at my older bottles vs. this and the last two collections and they are so awesome compared to the newer ones. The preview for the next collection is boring too- just plain neon cremes that CG does much better. I’m definitely not a Cultie anymore!
Plain neon cremes? Huh, I haven’t seen those. I’m really looking forward to Fetish, the black rubbery looking polish that CN is coming out with in December, but I guess we’ll have to see what else is coming out!
Oooh I just found the Summer 2013 picture of the creme polishes on their Instagram, I agree they aren’t too impressive. I really like most of the colors in this collection though.
