Zoya Ornate for Winter 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review
Good afternoon! Guess what just landed on my desk? Zoya Ornate for winter 2012!
This collection of six new shimmering, glimmering lacquers features some really cool shades and finishes. The coverage was really great with these as well. Almost all were totally opaque in two coats.
Ziv
Ziv
Ziv is a warm gold foil with deeper gold glitter pieces. Great foil finish and uber-shimmery. It went on a bit sheer at first (no streaks whatsoever though) but I only needed two coats.
Logan
Logan
Logan is a deep emerald green foil with green and gold glitter pieces. This is a deep green, however it isn’t blackened, so you can definitely tell it’s green. Love the gold shimmer throughout. Super creamy and lovely, and just two coats.
Aurora
Aurora
Aurora is a purple base with heavy holographic shimmer. So pretty! This might be my favorite one. The shimmer in it is super intense and obvious. This was just two coats.
Blaze
Blaze
Blaze is a cranberry red base with heavy holographic shimmer. On the nail you see mostly red, purple and pink shimmer and it looks really gorgeous. Actually this one might be my favorite…it’s a tie with Aurora! This was creamy, smooth and two coats.
Storm
Storm
Storm is a black base with holographic shimmer. This one was just a wee bit less opaque so I used three thin coats to get the tips fully covered. Nice deep black and very strong holo effect.
Electra
Electra
Electra has a clear base and features holographic bar glitter. This is one you would probably want to wear over another color since the base is clear and not fully opaque. This is two coats above. I am not really a fan of bar glitter, but that’s just my personal preference.
Overall: Strong collection! I really like that the finishes and shades are slightly different than the typical holiday/winter collections that come out. Aurora, Blaze and Storm in particular are not shades you see very often. The formula is really great with these and I LOVE all the holographic shimmer!

I am in love with all of these, EVEN THE GOLD! Seriously, I hate gold. That really says something.
I really want Aurora, Blaze and Storm! The others I’m not bothered about, but those three are absolutely gorgeous.

Hmm, maybe I’ve just been into nail polish too long, but the only ones that really appeal to me are Blaze and Storm. And even those aren’t *must haves*. More like *maybe I’ll pick up someday if I feel like paying shipping when Zoya has a promo*.
Amber, I totally agree with you on the color choice. It may not be related to how long you’ve been into polish; rather, IMHO, the other shades just don’t talk to me. =(

Oh my God, this is such an amazing collection and the photos are even more fantastic than before (didn’t think that was possible but you totally did it)! I need everything (maybe except for Electra)! Another fantastic holiday collection!

How is removal on these? Been on a glitter polish kick but not loving hard removal or the glitter migrating all over my hands during removal =P but oh man are these pretty!!!

The gold and silver ones tended to get all over my fingers, but the others were super easy and not messy.
I think they’re all pretty but right now I think Aurora is the only one that is drastically different from what’s already in my hoard. I’ve got so much nail polish that I need to be super picky.

Thank you so much for swatching these. You’re the first blogger I follow to do so. Great pictures, as always. I’m not really feeling these colors. I wanted to like them, but they’re just a little off of what I was hoping for. Oh well, maybe the next collection will wow me.
The only one that really caught my eye was Storm. I love Zoya though, I usually always have good luck with the lasting power on them but the other colors of this collection I think I’ll pass up.

First time commenting, but I’ve been following your blog for quite a while – wonderful blog you have! Blaze is a must for me and even though I am not a fan of most purples, I think I have to have Aurora. Holographics always steal my heart.
There all such lovely colors! I would say though that Storm looks a bit like Model’s Own Thunder and Lightening, just slightly better coverage.
Why are you doing this to me!!! I’ve promised myself not to buy any more polish for the next two months and you’re showing me these gorgeous glittery polishes.

I can comment on Blaze vs. London Disco Biscuit – Blaze is a lot deeper and cranberry in hue. Disco Biscuit is a jelly (kind of sticky my bottle is) with more of a glass fleck than holo in it) – and also DB is in the hot pink hue range.
Blaze is nothing like Disco Biscuit. One is pink with small glitter, the other is reddish purple with holo. Storm is black with holo, The Black Knight is black with glitter. Same for Aurora and Nova, one is glitter and the other is holo. All the polishes you listed are significantly different
And by two dupe questions, I obviously mean three…

Love this collection! I told myself to stop buying nail polishes at least til next year, but I don’t think I’ll be able to resist Blaze and Storm. The others are pretty too, but I can talk myself out of getting them, haha.

I should really stop looking at Zoya swatches. So difficult to get hold of in the UK, and there’s always at least one that ends up on my lemming list!
Now that I’ve picked my jaw up off the floor: wow! These are awesome! I especially love Aurora and Storm. To be honest, I love them all but I am going to try to be good and tell myself I have similar things.
Thanks for the swatches – first I have seen of this collection and I hesitated to order them all as I did not wear any I ordered of last holiday Zoyas (yet). I am not a fan of the gold – pretty but I don’t tend to wear gold foils but maybe 1 time in holiday and then not again and I have others already…and not a fan of the glitter one – just not a fan of glitter anymore (been glittered to death). Liking Blaze and Aurora but not the black one – it’s falling flat for me – another that has stuff in it but too dark and buried to see well and I know you put a ton of light on your photos to pull up what is in them.

Nope, not gritty, and especially with a top coat it’s smooth sailing. Electra is the gritty one here.

This one might just end up being the first whole Zoya collection I order. Electra, Storm, and Aurora remind me SO MUCH of colors I had as a little kid and pre teen in the 90′s & early 00′s! NEED. Love that the 90′s trend is even trickling down into nail land

Aurora is probably the only one of this collection I’ll be picking up. I love holos as much as the next person, but I already have quite a few, and I’m trying to cut back on how much nail polish I already have. I might be bad, and pick up a few others, if zoya has another amazing sale, like they did in the end of august!

This collection is gorgeous! Zoya has been knocking my socks off for the past couple years and I’m so happy to see them put out amazing collection after amazing collection after amazing collection! 
Aurora is my favorite hands down! Those holo twinkles sparkle so brightly from that beautiful red violet base! *swooooooooon*
Blaze is coming in for a very close second favorite after Aurora…though it might be a tie when I see them in person! OMG so gorgeous!!! Loving how strong the holo sparkles from the black base of Storm. Pretty twinkles often get lost in black bases so I’m impressed by Storm! Logan is such a beauty! Love the gold sparks amidst the vampy green! <3 I wonder if Ziv is close to OPI Dazzled By Gold. It definitely reminds me of it a bit. Electra looks pretty in the bottle but I'll probably need to see it layered over a darker shade to decide if it's a must have or not. I love bar glitter if it is the kind that behaves (lays nice and flat, doesn't clump up). This is such a strong collection. I kinda wanta just order the whole thing, lol! Yay, Zoya! *\o/*
