Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review

Seche Nail Lacquer Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review

Pretty much all nail polish enthusiasts know all about Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat by now. But did you know that Seche now also has a new color collection line of nail lacquers featuring 33 shades? Yup, it’s true!

This new collection coming out this month features a variety of shades and finishes. I had the opportunity to check six of them out and here are the results!

Seche Contemporary Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Contemporary

Contemporary is a kind of what I now consider a “classic” taupe creme. Remember when these shades started coming out a couple years ago and they were SO unusual? I still love them. This one is kind of a hybrid between taupe and a dusky violet. It went on a little sheer at first but was completely opaque in just two coats.

Seche Inspiration Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Inspiration

Inspiration is a bright flamingo pink with pink shimmer. Really nice consistency and coverage with this one. Love the pretty color, it’s very summery to me. This was just two coats.

Sech Magnifique Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Magnifique

Magnifique is a bright violet/pink base with heavy blue and pink shimmer. This one was also a little sheer at first and I thought it would need three coats, but nope, just two.

Seche Elegant Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Elegant

Elegant is a orange-y copper metallic. Pretty color but it has a slight frosty looking finish, which I’m not crazy about. It was a little brush stroke-y as well. This is two coats.

Seche Smitten Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Smitten

Smitten is a bright red creme leaning slightly towards orange. Great creamy formula and totally opaque in just two coats.

Seche Mischievous Seche New Nail Lacquer Color Collection for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Mischievous

Mischievous is a very dark purple/red creme. This almost looks black, but not completely. Surprisingly I only needed two coats with this for coverage which is really rare for such a deep vampy shade.

Overall: I think these are pretty nice nail lacquers. All but one of them covered completely in two coats, which is great. Perhaps these shades aren’t the most unique ones out there, but they’re still nice. My favorites are Contemporary, Inspiration and Magnifique.

Availability: Ulta and salons.

Pricing: $8.50 for .5 oz.

What do you think about the new Seche colors?

Note: Seche is cruelty free.

  • I am still loving shades like Contemporary, so pretty! But, Seche Vite makes my nail polish peel off in sheets, and so do all the Seche products I’ve tried (basecoat & a treatment) – so I’m pretty wary of the nail polish.

$8.50??!?!? They’re out of their minds.

  • I have a love/hate relationship with Seche Vite’s topcoat, but I’d be interested in seeing how their nail colors perform. Inspiration grabbed my interest!

  • Im guessing it’s not as fabulous as the famous topcoat, since you didn’t mention it, but with the Seche name on the bottle, I am curious about the dry time.

    • I actually don’t use the top coat, I much prefer Nubar Diamont.

  • They look so much better than I expected!
It’s a shame though that not all of them are ONE coaters considering that Seche calles them one-coat-colors…

I second the question, please. ^^ Are they really cruelty-free?

        October 2, 2012
        • I specifically asked about that and the rep said yes they were cruelty free.

          October 2, 2012
    • They have confirmed that they are big-three free.

  • They are perfect for the fall. And Inspiration is such a unique shade, more spring-y but beautiful.

Nothing at all unique. I have most of these colors by other brands. They may not be exact dupes but they are close enough that you don’t need both. I refuse to buy Seche because of the warning label in back. Of course I know nail polish isn’t something thats good for you, but I’d like to stay away from the worser ones.

  • I like Magnifique! $8.50 is alot. Does it dry really quick?

I have a mini topcoat and indeed it spread in sheets and I also concerned about that warning in some of the bottle about misformation by unborn babies, I used 2x after reading the article i stoped using it.

Those color some are very nice.

  • Contemporary is my favourite one here! I still love these taupey shades, and this strikes me as special because of the way it leans slightly mauve. Very pretty!

Not a bother to me that these are not unique shades. If the formula is a fab as I know SV top coat to be only in color formula then I am on board…searching on line and not seeing anywhere these are sold. Would be beyond fab if they went into Sally’s for retail! I am loving Magnifique – but then I am the magenta queen – and give it a blue flash and I am on board…looks a bit like OPIs Pompeii Purple that I can spot on folks a mile away.

  • I agree that the colors aren’t super unique, so I think I’ll just stick with Seche’s Topcoat which I absolutely love and stick to finding a cheaper dupe of these colors if I’m in the mood for them. Although, Contemporary is very pretty I admit & I do like that their 3free. I still think I’m going to pass on them. Great post as always!

  • Seche had color polishes over 13 years ago. I got them at a store in the mall like ‘Beauty Connections’. It was a mini set and they were shades for a French manicure. There was a white, nude, pink and light taupe. They were OK but nothing outstanding.

  • I agree with these not being too original. On there website they’re are a couple of gorgeous ones that are one coaters (according to other nail blogs), that I might pick up. I’m always looking for nice 1 coat cremes and shimmers to layer with. I also love inspiration, though :)

Magnifique looks like kind of like a dupe of Butter London’s Disco Biscuit, would you agree to this having seen it in person? I have been trying to find a cheaper alternative to disco biscuit for a year now and will cry with joy if this if it!
Unfortunately my Ulta doesn’t have this line in yet. I know its only the 5th but I am so exited!

    October 5, 2012
    • No sorry, definitely not dupes. DB is warmer and more of a fuchsia base. Plus it has micro glitter in it. Magnifique is more of a cool-toned purple/pink base with blue shimmer but no glitter.
