OPI Skyfall Collection for Holiday 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review
OPI Skyfall is the latest collection from the brand just in time for holiday 2012. This collection celebrates 50 years of James Bond films as well as the new movie by the same name, which releases November 7th.
Skyfall features twelve new shades ranging from cremes to shimmers to glitters to metallics. There are some somewhat familiar shades here, but also some really unique cool ones.
Die Another Day, The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldeneye
Die Another Day
Die Another Day is a bright shimmery cherry red. Great creamy formula, just two coats.
The Spy Who Loved Me
The Spy Who Loved Me is a bright apple red with gold glitter bits. Amazing formula, crazy gorgeous shade! I absolutely love this one. Two coats.
Goldeneye is an uber-glittery opaque gold. The gold is an old-gold or antiqued gold shade, which makes it more interesting than a typical gold glitter. It’s super opaque and totally amazing. I used three thin coats.
Casino Royale, You Only Live Twice, Skyfall
Casino Royale is a medium plum creme. This was a little thin, so I needed three coats for complete coverage. Nice shade, but maybe not that original.
You Only Live Twice
You Only Live Twice is a bright magenta pink glittery shimmer. It’s really cheery and festive. Nice and thick, I only needed two coats.
Skyfall is a medium maroon creme. This was also a little thin and a wee bit streaky, so I used three coats. This is another one I don’t think is all that interesting, but nice shade anyway.
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is a dusty silvery blue/green with heavy blue and gold shimmery bits. This starts off pretty thin and almost watery but after three coats it’s nice and opaque. This is one of my favorite ones, love this shade.
Tomorrow Never Dies
Tomorrow Never Dies is a bright royal purple with blue and pink shimmer. It’s a tiny bit streaky, but really creamy and rich. I used two coats. Gorgeous color, not unique though.
The World Is Not Enough
The World Is Not Enough is a pink/taupe/silver with heavy pink and gold shimmery bits. Very hard to describe this shade! It’s unique and really cool looking. Better than I expected from the first thin coat. This also was three coats to get it nice and opaque.
Moonraker, Live And Let Die, The Living Daylights
Moonraker is a very metallic silvery grey. As with most metallics, it’s a bit brush-stroke-y. This was two coats.
Live And Let Die
Live And Let Die is a deep, dark blackened green with green and gold shimmer. UGH. UGH as in this is AMAZING! The formula is so great and thick and perfect. It’s a one-coater people. One coat! Gorgeous.
The Living Daylights
The Living Daylights has medium sized copper, teal and silver hex glitter in a clear base. As with a lot of larger glitters, it tends to all wipe to the tip of the nail so you have to go slow and be careful of the glitter placement. But I like these shades together and definitely don’t have another glitter like it. This is two coats.
The Living Daylights over The World Is Not Enough
Overall: I think this is a pretty strong collection. There are some shades that maybe we’ve seen before or aren’t all that interesting, but there are quite a few amazing ones also. My favorites are The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldeneye, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, The World Is Not Enough and Live And Let Die. If you could only get one I would say Live And Let Die is the must have!
