Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick in Backstage Bambi

Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipstick Backstage Bambi

New and exclusive to Sephora are the Kat Von D Foiled Love Liquid Lipsticks.

These lipstick/lip gloss hybrids come in four new shades:

  • Forever & Never – Shimmery light bronze
  • Backstage Bambi – Bright pink
  • Adora – Bright red
  • Hellbent – Deep red

The texture of these initially is like a thick wet gloss. But then they dry quickly and appear more like a lipstick. A metallic “foiled” lipstick. I thought Backstage Bambi was going to be perfect for me because I love hot pink lips. However the finish left me feeling a little more 1985 than I prefer…

As you can see, Backstage Bambi is a pretty bright flamingo pink. And there is quite the strong frosty finish to it as well, which just ruins it for me. It immediately takes me back to an era I would rather not relive.

There’s also the price point which I am un-thrilled with. It’s $19.00 for a pretty small, skinny tube (0.18 oz).

Kat, I am disappoint.

Availability: Sephora only.

Pricing: $19.00.

Whaddya think? Hideous or 80’s cool?

-Kelly

Note: Kat Von D is cruelty free (as far as I know).

Ugh, I don’t like the finish either. I’m born in the 90s and those uber frosty finish stuff just makes me giggle. This looks SO weird. :D

This is a bit too frosty for my taste.

      Exactly.

Ugh, that makes me think of the times I’d swipe my older sister’s makeup and play with it… when I was 5… in 1989.

Eeek, that frost! That’s one thing from the 90’s that I really hope doesn’t make a comeback…

Ummm.. its pink and frosty. No thank you, I’ll pass.

Sometimes I don’t mind a frosty finish, but this one is realllly frosty and I don’t think I can pull off that type of light pink very well, either. So it’s a pass for me and my wallet. ;) (Thank goodness…hehe!)

Thank you, Kelly, for showing us how it looks. I know you’ve been going through a lot lately, so I’m really grateful that you’re able to still blog. :) Hope things get continually better for you.

What do you expect from a lipgloss named ‘Backstage Bambi’? ;)

Hope you’re doing well, Kelly! You’ve been in my thoughts and prayers!

Not trying to sound rude but, that is the purpose of her lipstick. It is supposed to give a foiled affect which in turn is going to be really frosty to give it the look of foil. I’m not a big fan of this pink though but I bet Hellbent and Forever and Never would be really awesome. =]

It reminds me of the lipgloss palettes from Claires and Limited Too… this finish kind of always does…

That shade, ugh. I do have this in Forever and Never though and really love it, it lasts on me for a dog’s age, one day through a cookie and two cups of coffee all day through, for me I found that impressive, considering the application I wasn’t sure it would dry, it felt slightly oily to me upon application but it dried right down. Really love Forever and Never. Backstage Bambi. Get thee behind me! Also have the proper lipstick in Adora, wonder if it is just the application that differs or if the shade is off a touch. Makes me want to hit the Sephora mothership.

Not sure, but most of the Kat Von D products just seem like a disappointment every time. lol.

Way way too frosty for me! The color might not be bad with a different finish though.

I don’t really mind the finish. It looks different somehow from 80s frost. Almost like soft-focused 80s frost? lol idk. I could definitely see it being difficult to pull this off though.

Whoa that is frosty! I don’t know who wears these types of lipsticks. I haven’t seen anyone wearing anything remotely frosty in a while. I do love the base color though.

Oh man, I am disappointed! Backstage Bambi is one of my favorite lip colors, but the only thing I don’t like about it is that it is pretty dry on my lips, so when I saw this post I got excited. Until I saw it… Boo Kat.

I saw and loved them BUT all the tester were dirty , like a bunch of the product came off the tube , so I thought it might do the same at home, and I don’t want some of that in my thing lol

I’m the old fart here and I like it. But, if paired with blue eye shadow and very obvious blush, then I would scream ’80’s!!! So I voted Yes. However, $19 is just too much for a lip gloss. Even my Too Faced glosses are a bit less and they rock.
