Too Faced Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primers Swatches & Review

Did you know that Too Faced has three different Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primers? Yep, it’s true.

  • Shadow Insurance (the classic) is my go-to eye primer and has been for a couple years now. It keeps my eyeshadow from creasing all day long and shadows are easy to blend on top of it.
  • Candlelight is an illuminating eye primer. It has a bit of golden shimmer to it.
  • Lemon Drop has a lemon yellow tone to it which helps reduce the appearance of dark spots.

Shadow Insurance, Candlelight, Lemon Drop

All three of these do the job of preventing those nasty eyeshadow creases, but my favorite is still the classic version.

Availability: Too Faced, Sephora.

Pricing: $18.00 for 0.35 oz.

Do you use any of these?

I have used a shadow primer since the 80′s and back then no one even knew about ‘em…I still love one I used in the 80s from Garden Botanica. I have tried many other brands through the yrs including this one in the original but it does not hold a candle to GB’s.

  • Hmm, wondering if I should try Lemon drop. I’ve been using concealer over my TFSI to even out the skintone on my eyelids. Wonder if this would do the trick.

  • I haven’t tried the Too Faced Shadow Insurance yet! I started out with UDPP, and it is not until very recently that I laid my hands on NARS Smudgeproof. Judging from the color I might still want to try the original before the other two though!

  • I have heard so much about the shadow insurance. Since there are no Sephoras here in India, I was planning to get it through a friend of mine.

Thanks for the swatches. Usually the separate swatches are a bit confusing.

The classic version; I think I’ve owned 4 by now and they all had a slightly different design on the packaging!

  • Lemon Drop intrigues me. I am wondering how it will compare to my beloved UD Eden PP.

  • Shadow Insurance is my go to eye primer. UD was for a long time, but then it didn’t work as well anymore.

  • Love TFSI but I’ve recently tried Urban Decay Primer Potion, and I have to say its pretty nice.

  • The classic is my favorite too :) I was pretty excited to try the Lemon Drop version when it first came out (they had a really pretty pinup style look in the promo photos, apparently using just the primer alone on the lid) but it was too light to work that well for me

The classic works better than any other brand I’ve tried. I tried the Lemon Drop version, but unfortunately, my eyeshadow creased! So, I’m a classic devotee.

  • Candlelight can bring some delicious golds to another level. I don’t use it often but when I do I always love it.

Hmm I like Candlelight, but my go to primers are Urban Decay. Especially Sin and Greed.

  • My current go-to primer is Urban Decay Primer Potion and I love it! But I’m a sucker for tinted primers, so I might have to try Candlelight!
