Tarte Glamazon Pure Performance Lipstick & Just Deserts Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Quad for Fall 2012

Tarte has some new goodies for us this fall, all wrapped up in really pretty colorful packaging.
Glamazon Pure Performance Lipsticks are new and are available in eight shades (and only at Sephora). These long-wear lipsticks are infused with Amazonian clay, which is supposed to make the colors stay true and not budge once applied. They come in long-ish bamboo (I think) tubes with a colorful design, which gives you an idea of the actual lipstick shade. While the tubes are long and look weighty, they are in fact super lightweight! The shades these come in are Pure, Inspired, Whimsy, Bold, Fierce, Playful, Foxy and Wild.
They also have four new Beauty & The Box Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Quads. These include 4 eyeshadows in each one, and come in shades Just Deserts, In The Buff, Brewed Awakening and Envoke The Smoke.

Bold, Foxy, Fierce, Wild

Bold, Foxy, Fierce, Wild

Bold, Foxy, Fierce, Wild
Bold is a pinkish/coral shade.
Foxy is a bright cool-toned fuchsia pink.
Fierce is a bright warm flame red (and the one in my Twitter avi).
Wild is a deep cool red.
Ok let’s talk texture. The texture of these is…a bit strange. On my hand swatch (where I first used them) they felt super creamy and pigmented. But two of them (Foxy and Fierce) felt a bit thick and dry when applied to the lips. The colors didn’t glide across my lips smoothly and easily like Bold and Wild did. Very strange. Those ones somehow were much more moisturizing for me. I noticed these seemed to kind of “set” soon after you apply them, which might be from the Amazonian Clay which helps them not bleed or smudge.
Having said that, these all have really nice pigmentation. They are all bright, fun colors and you don’t need a lot to go a long way.
I have yet to do a long wear test, but I have a feeling that Foxy and Fierce might be ones I will need to wear a lip balm underneath since they felt drier than the other two.

Desert Sand, Desert Lily, Desert Wind, Desert Shadow (over primer)
Desert Sand is a pale vanilla matte.
Desert Lily is a medium glittery gold.
Desert Wind is a shimmery silver/taupe.
Desert Shadow is a deep matte brown.
Just Deserts Amazonian Clay Eyeshadow Quad features four somewhat subtle and natural looking colors. The texture of these overall is soft. Desert Lily was a touch grittier because it has fine glitter in it. But the pigmentation wasn’t all I had hoped for. Desert Sand and Desert Wind really kind of made me work to get decent pigmentation. Desert Lily is a pretty shade, but there is a bit of fallout. Desert Shadow also was a little patchy, and I had to use a lot to get the swatch you see above.
Overall: Despite the strange texture of two of the lipsticks, I like them. I love the packaging, love the pigmentation and shades themselves. I frequently find myself wearing lip balm under probably 50% of the lipsticks I own because I have super dry lips so for me, it’s not that big of a deal. I do wish they were less expensive though, they are pricey. I wasn’t too impressed with the Just Deserts Eyeshadow Quad. Not enough pigmentation for me, so I give it a pass.
Availability: Tarte (eyeshadows), Sephora (lipsticks are exclusive to Sephora). Also don’t forget, if you order from Tarte’s site through today you get 30% off and free shipping on orders of $40 and up!
Pricing: Lipsticks are $26.00 for 0.07 oz. Eyeshadow Quads are $22.00 for 0.2 oz.
Will you be trying out these new lipsticks or eyeshadows? Which lipstick shades do you like?

Note: Tarte is cruelty free

I do like the lipsticks, but they are a bit pricey. I’d have to check them out in person…maybe one in particular will be worth the splurge!
The lipsticks look great, specially Foxy and Fierce.
That packaging is just absolutely gorgeous! I’m not especially enamored with the eyeshadow quad, but those lipsticks look lovely!
I actually saw those lipsticks the other day when I was in Sephora, and didn’t realize they were exclusive! I was swatching a ton of things to see what to splurge on for the F&F sale. I wrote down Bold and couldn’t find it anywhere on the site & I guess what’s why! haha
Thanks for the useful information & swatches! Bold looks just as good on the lips as it does on the back of a hand. Fierce is such a great red too!
My birthday is in September, so I might need to nudge some people to pick that up for me.
Love the packaging on these! Bold is my favorite of the lip colors, but $26 is a bit pricey:-(

I kind of like Bold, but I’m not sure if I’ll get used to seeing myself with such an opaque color on my lips!

This packaging is so cute!! (and I usually favor sleek, minimalist packaging)… The colors look pretty but so similar to me and none of them jump out at me as really that unique or something I’d wear often. Oh well. Still, I do love that packaging haha…

Lipsticks – beautiful!! Palette – boring. Kinda how I feel about lots of tarte products – either fantastic or Meh….
I almost picked these up the other day. Foxy and Bold are so beautiful! My birthday is coming up…maybe I will add these to the wish list.

The Bold lipstick is so pretty but the dryness is a bummer. Too bad cause they look like really nice, bold colors.

I will say that those lip colors look about the best I’ve seen of any you have worn. I have Bold and Foxy and adore them (bold looks better on you!) I love that they stay longer and I think they go on smoothly. Love Tarte, love Tarte. I must try those shadows (I have the original set from QVC and absolutely love those). enjoy your blog!
The eyeshadows don’t look as pigmented as they could be! A little disappointing.
