OPI Germany for Fall 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review

OPI Germany is the latest and greatest collection from OPI for fall 2012.

Germany features twelve new shades, all either cremes or shimmers. Quite a few of these turned out to be must-haves for me, which I didn’t really expect. If you love glowing, lit-from-within shimmery metallics, I think you will want some of these…

OPI Don t Pretzel My Buttons
Don’t Pretzel My Buttons

Don’t Pretzel My Buttons is a light tan/beige creme. Very close to my skin tone. Nothing much to write home about for me with this one. It was a little bit streaky and I used two coats.

OPI My Very First Knockwurst
My Very First Knockwurst

My Very First Knockwurst is a pale muted pink creme. A nice work appropriate color, but again nothing super unique I don’t think. This was a little uneven and I used three thin coats.

OPI Don t Talk Bach To Me
Don’t Talk Bach To Me

Don’t Talk Bach To Me is a shimmery yellow/green. Now we’re talking! It’s kind of a muted Dijon mustard color. Not obviously yellow or green really. The shimmer is silvery and makes it cooler I think. I love this one, very me. This was two coats.

OPI Berlin There Done That
Berlin There Done That

Berlin There Done That is a medium mushroom taupe creme. Nice shade, walks the line between greyish and taupe, but leans more towards taupe. This was a bit sheer so I used three coats.

OPI Schnapps Out Of It
Schnapps Out Of It!

Schnapps Out Of It! is a burnt orange/coral with silver shimmer. I love this one, unexpectedly. Really rich and creamy and almost one coat. Very unique!

OPI Nein Nein Nein Ok Fine
Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine!

Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! is a super dark charcoal grey creme. It almost appears to be a really dark green but it’s grey. Doesn’t look black, but close. This was three coats as it’s a bit watery and sheer.

OPI Deutsche You Want Me Baby
Deutsche You Want Me Baby

Deutsche You Want Me Baby is a medium super shimmery metallic orange. Wow my camera freaked out with this one. It’s SO saturated and rich. It glows. Gorgeous and three thin coats.

OPI Danke Shiny Red
Danke-Shiny Red

Danke-Shiny Red is a rich jewel-toned shimmery metallic red. Another one where my camera freaked out. Crazy pretty in real life and again, looks like it’s glowing. This was two coats.

OPI German icure By OPI
German-icure By OPI

German-icure by OPI is a deep rich reddish brown shimmery metallic. WOWOWOWOWOW. I know I keep saying this but this one GLOWS. So gorgeous and creamy. I couldn’t stop looking at it. I love these kinds of reds. This was three coats.

OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest
Every Month Is Oktoberfest

Every Month Is Oktoberfest is a deep rich purple/red shimmer. Ok I thought German-icure By OPI was my fav until I swatched this one. Another amazing jewel-toned glowing shimmer. This is my favorite from the collection. This was three coats.

OPI Suzi The 7 Dusseldorfs
Suzi & The 7 Düsseldorfs

Suzi & The 7 Düsseldorfs is a violet metallic shimmer. There is a lot of red and blue shimmer in this one making it really pretty. It’s a little frosty though. This was three coats.

OPI Unfor Greta Bly Blue
Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue

Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue is a frosty medium blue metallic. It’s kind of a muted blue, not too bright and not navy. This was three coats.

Overall: Ok there are some definite must-haves here in my opinion. If you like kind of oddball colors that you might not already have then Don’t Talk Bach To Me, Schnapps Out Of It! and Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine! might be ones for you. If you are a sucker for jewel toned shimmery metallics then I recommend Danke-Shiny Red, German-icure By OPI and Every Month Is Oktoberfest.

Availability: Out this month!

Pricing: $8.50 for 0.5 oz.

Now you have seen OPI Germany, what do you think? Ja or nein?

I was excited to see these after reading your tweets yesterday about them! (Or was it the day before?) In any case, I love Every Month Is Oktoberfest!

Ja! The one I’m most excited about is Don’t Talk Bach to Me. I love those weird colors and since I missed Fiercely Fiona this seems like a good replacement.

Dark shimmery ones look really good, I didn’t want them before, but I started thinking after seeing your photos…)
Too bad it’s still summer and I can’t choose dark shades right now(
I also love nudes, but I’m not sure which is better for my skin tone, I need to see them in life)

I can see this collection being a big seller for OPI. I like the Nein! color. Berlin there done that, too, although I feel like I’ve seen that color so many times over the past two-three years, same for Don’t Pretzel. Schnapps Out Of It! is so cute! It reminds me of watermelons and ladybugs and springtime. I don’t think it’d be very flattering on me, but it looks great on you :)

I ran out to get Don’t talk Bach to me the day it came out. Love the color and I’m currently on a lime green kick. I also got Danke-shiny Red and it’s gorgeous! Quick question- how does Nein! Nein! Nein! compare to NARS Storm Bird?
Seems Nein! Nein! Is darker but that could just be my settings. Thanks!

    • August 11, 2012

Storm Bird is lighter and more of a blue-grey. This one is much closer to looking black.

How do you think German-icure compares to Sanguine from Go Goth? I am forever hunting something similar :(

    • August 11, 2012

German-icure is a deeper and more brownish/red shimmer whereas Sanguine is a brighter blood red. Sorta similar but sorta not…

        Lauren

Thanks for the response :) I’ll probably pick it up anyway

I would love to see you do some comparisons with some of these such as the blue to … well a lot of the blues from OPI to pick from…I am thinking esp the blue I have seen a ton of times over. I do like the purple one because of the blue shimmer flecks in it. I think I have seen enough of the orange metallic here to know it’s much different from the orange DS OPI has coming out called Luxurious. As for the 2 light nudes here I know I have seen those before – if not from OPI then certainly from Essie I am thinking. This yellow would be really hard for many to pull off. Berlin is another one I know we have seen before…again thinking of some Essies. Schnapps is interesting but I know like the yellow on here, I could not wear it – it would pull my hand skin and feet looking very lobstery red with blue popping veins. Kind of again a hard color for many to wear. I am a big fan of Danke-Shiny Red- not because it’s so unique but because I so miss these great reds OPI used to do for holiday which I miss so much now they gave up doing any holiday themes at Christmas and have gone to movie tie ins. I used to live for the OPI holiday collections to get wonderful rich reds and metalic/shimmery reds.

I’m really wanting Deutsche You Want Me Baby! So pretty, and I can see that color carrying over nicely to the Wintertime.

Oh I think I saw your swatch of Pocket Rocket in Dustin being used on ebay somewhere, wasn’t sure if you were selling it or they just ripped off your picture
