Nicole by OPI Target Exclusives for Fall 2012 Swatches & Review
Nicole by OPI has five new Target Exclusives out for this fall. In trendy fall shades of purple, green, mauve, blue and gold, these shades are all duochromes and either metallic or glittery.
This might be one of the best Nicole by OPI collections I have seen in awhile. All five of these are really nice colors and they had a good formula. The duochrome effect in some of them does look stonger in the bottle than on the nail, but regardless I liked all the shades. And I even REALLY liked some of the glitters, which I am not normally a huge fan of.

If The Blue Fits…
Iris My Case
Iris My Case is a bright purple/pink metallic duochrome. When you look at the bottle you see a lot of gold around the edges but it didn’t really show up on my nails. It does flash from purple to a pinky shade depending on the light. It’s a really vivid shade. This was two non-streaky coats.
Mer-Maid For Each Other
Mer-Maid For Each Other is a metallic green with a yellow/gold/blue duochrome effect. I know what you’re thinking. You are thinking this is yet another Chanel Peridot dupe. But actually it really isn’t. It is much more of a bright green than Peridot. Also the shimmer/duochrome effect is different. There isn’t any of that warm looking “old gold” in it, but rather a brighter yellow/gold. Really pretty shade and I for one am SO glad it’s not another dupe. This was two coats.
Just Busta Mauve
Just Busta Mauve is a really unique brown/pink (mauve) glitter. The glitter is pink and blue. In the bottle it looks pretty duochromatic (totally not a word but I like it) but not so much on the nail. It’s a really cool color though. When I was wearing it I was loving the glitter colors in it. It’s different from any other glitter I own for sure. It is on the sheer side so I used three coats.
For Gold Times Sake
For Gold Times Sake is a green/gold with tons of gold, blue and pink glitter. I love, love this color. It’s hard to tell if it’s really green or gold, it does change a lot in the lighting. The green is really murky and swampy looking, which I like. Gorgeous! This was a little sheer also so it was three coats.
If The Blue Fits…
If The Blue Fits…is a really deep and shimmery navy blue. In the bottle it looks AMAZING. You can see a lot of green, yellow pink and gold. On the nail some of that gets lost sadly. I did detect a ton of pink and lighter blue shimmer, but not really any green/gold duochrome. Wah. But either way this blue is still really pretty. This was pretty saturated and I only needed two coats.
Overall: Even though some of these weren’t quite as duochromatic as I had hoped, I still really liked them all. My favorite ones are Mer-Maid For Each Other, Just Busta Mauve and For Gold Times Sake.

“Mer-Maid For Each Other” is a literal China Glaze “Unpredictable” dupe! I found that out thanks to some reader requests for a comparison. I too also LOVE “For Gold Time’s Sake”! Does If The Blue Fits look familiar at all or is a completely new and unique shade?
I think it’s the least unique of these actually (except maybe Iris My Case), but I can’t remember what else it looks like offhand. The other two glitters are definitely more unique I think.
I remember seeing it in the display and thinking it was a color already in the core line since there were several other core colors in the display. I’ll take it as a sign that I passed it the first time so I don’t need it now. The glitters on the other hand I like a lot.

How does For Gold Times Sake compare to Zoya Edyta?
They’re fairly different Edtya is definitely a green and a dark one. This one is more gold/green with a lot more gold and other colored shimmer in it.
Wow! This is the best Nicole collection I think I have seen. I only have one Nicole polish & am not that impressed with it. I refuse to give a glance at the Kardashian ones, so thankfully these are not associated, haha. I like Iris My Case, For Gold Time’s Sake, and If The Blue Fits.
Great swatches! I agree, it is sad that the duo-chrome is lost on the nail.
Minus the 2 colors being dupes of 2 China Glaze colors, the collection is pretty good!

The blue looks so amazing in the bottle that it was disappointing to see it on your fingers. I think I’d still want to buy it though. These are all gorgeous with For Gold Time’s Sake the one I’d really love most.
