MAC Pro Lip Palette in 6 Editorial Reds Swatches & Review

This fall MAC introduces us to five new Pro Lip Palettes featuring some of their most popular lipstick shades.
Each of these super convenient palettes includes six lipstick shades. They come in Preferred Pinks, Editorial Oranges, Modern Browns, Editorial Reds and Select Plums.
Let’s dig into Editorial Reds.

Editorial Reds

Editorial Reds

Russian Red, Dare You, MAC Red
Russian Red is a blue-toned red matte.
Dare You is a brownish red cremesheen.
MAC Red is a bright blueish-red satin.

Lady Danger, On Hold, Ruby Woo
Lady Danger is a bright coral/red matte.
On Hold is a medium raspberry cremesheen.
Ruby Woo is a bright red retro matte.
As you know, I love a good red lip. Especially one that is super pigmented and blue-toned. For me the best ones here are Russian Red, MAC Red, Lady Danger and Ruby Woo. Ruby Woo did feel VERY matte and almost hard to get onto my finger for the swatch. It feels extremely matte in the tube as well, but somehow this felt harder to apply for some reason.
Sorry I don’t have full lip swatches, I haven’t been feeling well and don’t have the energy to do them. I do have some of these swatched on the blog already though here.
Availability: MAC online and Pro locations only.
Pricing: $40.00.
What do you think about Editorial Reds? I think overall it’s a pretty great red palette!

Note: MAC is not cruelty free.

I think they’re gorgeous! Seems pretty useful if you’re a red lips lover like I am haha
I didn’t realize these were existing MAC lipsticks in palette form. $40 is a good price for six lipsticks. I don’t love palettes, but this may be worth it for me!

Woah, MAC isn’t cruelty free? At this day and age? :Looks up cruelty-free company list: I can’t believe it.
MAC started selling in China earlier this year so no, they are not cruelty free anymore.
I want it! I have been meaning to buy Russian Red, Lady Danger and Ruby Woo anyway. This is a good way to save money on MAC lipsticks.

So many shades that I’ve heard people rave about! Kinda wish I were a red lipstick wearer, but sadly that’s not the case. I enjoy a bolder shade from time to time, but most of the time I prefer to emphasize my eyes and find a lipstick that doesn’t steal their thunder!

I’ve never been a fan of lip palettes for some reason, but these are a nice collection of reds. On Hold is probably the only one I could carry off.

Wow I love this! I do not have a MAC lipstick yet and I think that this is a great way to try out different colors. =]

This is pretty cool! I think it would be a great way to not only try MAC signature reds, but also get an idea of what may be your own personal shade of red could be!
The palette idea is awesome because they give you a good number of lipsticks for your money, but sadly I don’t think they would work for me because I need to reapply throughout the day and it is just not realistic for me to carry a palette and lipbrush around with me all day. Too bad because I like the pink and orange palettes.

Sorry to read you aren’t feeling well, take care of yourself and get better soon
. These are beautiful, I think it should be named the Vampy Varnish palette!
Ugh, all these reds! I feel like I viciously need this but if I think about it, I already have a MILLION reds. But I really like the packaging and the idea behind a red palate to mix and match.

I can’t pull off reds. If they did a purple or pink palette I would look into buying that ;3
I love reds and I’m definitely picking this up when these launch in my part of the world which will take a while but I’ll patiently wait for this stunning palette!

Did you happen to notice if the label on the backside of your palette listed the shades wrong? Mine seems to have On Hold and Ruby Woo listed in opposite order and your review here lists them in what I think is correct order. I was just curious if you got a wonky label like I did! I almost didn’t catch it until I went to get the name of the sheer shade (Oh Hold) and saw it listed as Ruby Woo, which I always remembered as being matte.

Yes mine were also wrong on the actual palette, and I corrected them in the post. I was highly confused at first!
When is the release date for these? I can’t seem to find them on the website.
i think they’re available on the PRO site only right now…? if im not mistaken(i could very much be mistaken lol)
I would LOVE if you swatched these
I just want to make sure that the pigments in the palette are the same as in the tubes. You never know. I’d rather spend the $15 per tube versus $40 for so-so pigmentation.
Would you say they are the same?
