Kat Von D Shade Shifter Eyeshadows Swatches & Review

Kat Von D has four new Shade Shifter Eyeshadows out and you know me, I cannot resist her eyeshadows! Especially when the words “Shade Shifter” are being used.
These eyeshadows come in four shades: Love Letter (purple), On The Road (brown), Stockholm (blue) and Devotion (copper). All of these shadows are duochromes and are activated by water. You can use them dry but the colors are more subtle and the duochrome effect shows up a little better when wet.

Stockholm

Devotion

When used dry over primer I still got fairly good pigmentation as you can see. When used wet the shade just gets richer and you see more of the color shift happening. When you apply them wet try not to rub too hard otherwise the shadows seem to ball up. If you pat on rather than rub, you get a better result I found.
Stockholm shifts from blue to lavender. I had to apply a good amount of this shade because it’s a wee bit sheer at first, but buildable.
Devotion is a copper/gold that changes to a greenish shade. Really gorgeous color and nice pigmentation!
Overall: I love pretty much anything that does the shade shift thing and I think these are pretty nice. I’m not thrilled that they’re $16.00 each though because I wanted all four!
Availability: Sephora only.
Pricing: $16.00 for 0.09 oz.
What do you think about these eyeshadows? Yes or no?
-Kelly
Note: I think Kat Von D is cruelty free but not 100% sure.

Great post! Love KVD’s makeup but can’t get it over here in the UK without paying over the odds on ebay :[ Stockholm is a stunning colour x

I love them too, especially lately for some reason.
These are pretty! Never heard of duochrome eyeshadow but I might have to try Stockholm. I’m a sucker for blues.
Yeah I really like Stockholm when wet!
You can really see the shade change in these photos, love the look of Devotion for sure!

At first I was not interested, then I read that they’re duochrome, and got excited. I don’t think the effect is enough for me to drop $16, especially if takes more work than the average shadow. I would like to see how the other shades fare though!

I bought devotion a couple weeks back and I LOVE it. Plus it is the first time I used the makeup sponge applicator provided because it actually does work well for we application.
The colour shifting is so cool! I love how pigmented they are, wish they weren’t so expensive though

I love duochromes and these are the shades that I would have purchased. However, I find the shifting to be too subtle. They still look like nice shadows though.

While these shades are nice, I’d love to see her come out with a duochrome shadow that goes from green to purple! That would be a must-buy for me!
