Deborah Lippmann Bad Things Mini Nail Lacquer Trio

Finally we have reached the third and final of the Deborah Lippmann True Blood nail lacquer sets. This one is called Bad Things Mini Nail Lacquer Trio and it comes with, you guessed it, three mini nail colors.

The colors in this set are pretty spot on. I could definitely see them in the show in various ways. Obviously New Flesh reminds me of a vamp chomping down on “fresh meat”. Strange Love reminds me of a shade either Sookie would wear OR possibly even Pam (my fav character). And of course Bad Blood is a deep red bloody shade.

New Flesh is a sheer warm nude. It looks a bit yellow/orange on my nails and is sheer even after two coats. Subtle.

Strange Love

Strange Love is a deep magenta pink with hidden shimmer. They classify this as a creme but as you can see, there is very fine pink and blue shimmer in there if you look closely. This one was a bit uneven in application. I used three coats here.

Bad Blood is a medium black cherry jelly. If you love jellies you might like this one. I am not a fan of them because I can never get them even and get my tips covered the way I prefer. This is four coats. Super shiny!

Availability: HSN now and in November on, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Macrus and Barney’s New York.

Pricing: HSN and retail price is $25.00 for .27 oz each.

Ok now I wanna know – which of the True Blood sets did you like the most? The least? Did you pick any up yet?

Note: Deborah Lippmann is cruelty free.

I have to say that I love them all. I would wear every color, even the lipstick. Would definitely be a hard buy for me. Couldn’t just choose one.

I liked let it bleed much more, I also love the box Im not kidding it is sooooo vampy has a gotic art disign on it. But bad blood isn’t bad.
Bring on more vampy colors :) I will stay tuned

I wish I could buy New Flash alone!! loooove!
How does Bad Blood compares to Zoya Paloma and OPI Houston we have a purple? I love jellies, but I already have those, that are almost perfect dupes btw :-(

I’m wearing Strange Love right now. I love it! :)

  • August 16, 2012

I’m just not impressed. :/ But if I had to pick a favorite, it would be New Flesh.

These are really pretty! My favorite set is the one with the lipstick. I probably won’t end up buying any of them though – DL polishes are out of my price range for nail polish, sadly.

I’m actually liking Sookie’s set the best. I guess I’m in the mood for neutrals. I didn’t pick up any but I will when they are released in November.

This was the one set I was sort of tempted by, but was turned off by the price ($30 for three minis after shipping?!) and now I can say I’m glad I resisted. The flesh color would look awful on me, I’m not really a jelly fan and it’s a disappoint that the one color I was most interested in was uneven! Sigh. I am so willing to give $$ for True Blood inspired make-up and I keep being disappointed by what gets out out!

None of them really speak to me, but I do appreciate you for sharing your swatches. :)

Kelly, I think I read on Zoya’s blog a cool little trick about jelly polishes. They layered a jelly over a similar-coloured creme polish. The result was the jellyish look you love, but more opacity so that the nail line doesn’t show. Thought that was a good idea, since I also don’t like nail line showing. Have you tried layering it like that?

I haven’t tried that actually. I should try with some of the shades I like! Thanks :)

I’ll pass on these, not crazy about the colors. Plus, I’m not fond of having to apply more than two coats of nail polish.

  • August 17, 2012

    I’m loving New Flesh!!

  • August 17, 2012

I’m not impressed with this set.

  • August 17, 2012

Gorgeous! I just wish they were less expensive. Now I just have to find dupes for them and I’ll be good!

  • August 17, 2012

Well, I’m not very impressed because none of these are really colors I seem to go for. BUT I chose to buy this set. I just love true blood so much, it’s sort of a collectors item for me. And this one spoke to me more than the one you reviewed earlier. I also wasn’t at all interested in any of the fragrances/lotions/etc.

  • August 17, 2012

    Nothing new or exciting here.

  • August 17, 2012

The only one I like is Strange Love, I know New Flesh would look awful on me. I’m sure these sets are everything to the die-hard True Blood fans!

Hmm, not sure any of these are to my taste. I don’t like how sheer they mostly are.
