Deborah Lippmann Sookie Sookie True Blood Set Swatches, Photos & Review

Deborah Lippmann Sookie Sookie True Blood Set

The Deborah Lippmann True Blood Sookie Sookie Set features two new limited edition nail lacquers, inspired by HBO’s True Blood series.

This time instead of deep blood reds we get subtler colors. Sweeter. You know, just like Sookie herself. ;)

I’ll be honest. I was HOOKED on True Blood the first three seasons. Then after season 4  I got really bored with them adding so many fantasy creatures. Then I canceled HBO. But now I have it again so I might see if season 5 is worth watching.

Fairydust

Fairydust is a white shade with tons of fiery pink shimmer. It is a wee bit on the streaky and thick side, but I absolutely love the color anyway. So shimmery and feminine! This was two coats, so three may have helped with streaks a bit more.

Human Nature

Human Nature is a beige/putty creme. It’s kind of an oddball color, which makes me like it. Reminds me of filing cabinets in the 1960’s. It’s a really great creamy formula and just two thin coats.

And just for kicks and giggles I layered Fairydust over Human Nature. It actually came out nicer than I expected, and Fairydust isn’t streaky over another opaque shade. Pretty!

Availability: HSN right now until November and then it will be at DeborahLippman.com, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Barney’s New York.

Pricing: HSN for $25.00 otherwise $30.00 for .50 oz each.

What do you think about Sookie Sookie? Are you still watching True Blood?

Oooh I do like the Fairydust one for layering, very pretty! Although there probably are cheaper alternatives haha! xx

I agree with Louise. While Fairydust is really pretty (and I was pleasantly surprised to see how well the two polishes layered), I think that there are probably more economical alternatives.

Great swatches, Kelly! Even though I don’t watch True Blood (hehe, I may be one of the few left who doesn’t), it’s cool to see the nail-polish tie-in. (I wish a nail-polish company would do a Gilmore Girls themed nail collection! :D)

I really like the last combo. Seems Fairydust works better as a layering polish. Do you know if all the True Blood nail lacquers will be available at other retailers in November?

    • August 15, 2012

It will be at all the ones I listed on the post.

Hmm I never got into True Blood, but I do like the combination of colors. I might pick it up for my sister because she’s a huge TB fan~

If you managed to quit watching True Blood after season 4 count yourself lucky and don’t torture yourself by getting back into it! It’s awful, and I hate myself for not being able to quit. But my husband still loves it so thats most of the reason I still watch.

I love the first color but not the second

Not a huge fan of the polishes separately, but I love the combo!

Yeah I think last season was a little much with so many new supernatural species. This season is pretty good I think, but I just love True Blood so I’m biased haha. I like Fairy Dust it looks pretty! I wonder how it would look over the vampy red you wore the other day…I need to pick up a few of these polishes!

Ooh this was the set I was most excited for! I love the combination of the two polishes together. I love True Blood too – I’m super behind on this season though so I need to some serious marathoning to catch up…

Great swatches as ever, but I think I’ll pass on thses two.

I am still enjoying True Blood. Perhaps that’s because I’ve read the novels and so was forewarned about all the mystical creature shenanigans (perhaps it’s just Eric). You should try the books, they aren’t great literature by any stretch, but really enjoyable nonetheless.

I love True blood but this collection isn’t in the budget. I drooled over the Tarte for True Blood collection and this is a bit of beauty torture as well. I love Fairydust! When I read the collection name all I thought of was when Bill says “Sookie” and when Sookie imitates Bill saying her name. If you’re a Stephen Moyer fan he’s in a series on youtube called Jan. He’s shirtless a lot (and there is a butt shot lol). Apparently his character likes to take random showers at people’s houses (aka an excuse to see him half nakey). It’s actually a really good show. Oh, and he uses his REAL accent! :D

I’ve got to catch up on True Blood, I’m a few seasons behind.

I like both of these after seeing the swatches! Before, I thought they were fairly “eh”.

Love Fairydust!! May have to splurge on this one! I have to agree with the other ladies on the status of True Blood. I was a die hard fan seasons 1-3. But last season was meh and this season has just been HORRIBLE!!!! Don’t waste your time.

Fairydust is so pretty! I like it layered too. A lot of people are not liking TB this season but I’ve really been enjoying it. I think no matter what they did, I’d still watch, if only to see Eric and Pam.

I don’t care for them separately but together they look pretty nice. I’d be curious to see Fairdust on a brighter color like pink.

Never saw Tru Blood, don’t watch much TV, but I do love this combo! I think I am going to wait a while and see if it goes on clearance. Usually these things tend to on HSN website! The colors look great on you!

  • August 15, 2012

Fairydust is so pretty, I just wish it could commit to being either opaque or sheer and not a streaky mess. I think I could still live with it though, maybe.

I’d never wear the camel alone but it’s a pretty combination when layered. I love that shimmer.
