Vent Glace, High Society (over primer)

Vent Glace features two fairly pale and frosty shades. The first is an icy silver/white. Nice pigmentation. The second is a smoky grey/silver shade. Pigmentation on this one was a bit lighter, harder to come by. They felt medium/soft (not super soft) and overall are nice shades, especially if you are looking for something subtle.

High Society features a pale lavender, a deep matte green and an amethyst shimmer. The lavender shade is fairly light and had just ok pigmentation. The forest green is a matte and was a wee bit chalky and hard to get even. The amethyst is the nicest one in terms of pigmentation. As far as texture of these, they didn’t feel as nice as one would hope for from NARS shadows. I would prefer a more velvety feel.

Overall: I had really hoped to be blown away by High Society especially, but felt it was just ok. I wish the colors had been more saturated and the shadows were softer. Vent Glace is nice, but perhaps nothing that exciting or unique.

Availability: NARS, Nordstrom.

Pricing: High Society ($45 for 0.17 oz), Vent Glace ($34 for 0.14 oz.)

What do you think about High Society and Vent Glace? Are these compacts you would purchase?

  • Thanks for the review! Vent Glace looks a little bit boring to me, to be honest. High Society is totally gorgeous – how disappointing that the quality wasn’t there!

From the promos I thought I wanted Vent Glacé but now not so much. Too bad about the pigmentation since they are nice colors.

  • The more swatches I look of these, the more I want them. Lol. I love the trio

  • I like the colors in Vent Glace, but I feel like I already have similar ones so I’m not going to shell out the money for that duo, especially if they’re not very pigmented.

  • Hmmm, none of these shades really SHOUT at me. The smokey grey in Vent Glace is whispering a bit though :) .

  • The dark purple is the only one that I really like. The rest aren’t doing anything for me. But that’s okay because I can’t wear most NARS eye shadows anyway due to one ingredient that irritates my eyes.

Thanks for swatching all these colours!

  • I had hoped that this collection would be more exciting as well. I don’t think that these colors are unique enough to make me want to spend the money on them. Even the colors in the duo look pretty similar to each other and I don’t feel like they would look very different on the eyes. Oh well xoxo

I really wanted to love all the colors in the trio, but I’m on the fence. Theyre pretty, but I’m not sure if I would reach for it often enough to justify buying it. I really like Vent Glace. Lighter colors then what I typically wear, but it could be nice for a subtle day look. I’ll have to swatch it on myself to see if it will work on me or not.

  • I just love that Nars keep combining green and purple.

  • I feel like you – High Society should have wowed me more than it did. BUT, I feel like they would look great as a matte contour/crease to a nice shimmery color – hmmm, might have to try them after all! Haha

  • I love the purple and green but I probably wouldn’t use the pink in the High Society palette. Pink eyeshadow makes me look sickly, lol!

I don’t think I can pull off Vert Glace, too cool and a tad light, but High Society has pretty wearable shades.

Shame, I had high hopes for these too! I’m a sucker for purples, and that antique looking gold seemed interesting, but alas I will wait.

Booo on High Society :( The colors together look famazing, but a dark chalky shadow is yucky.

  • I’ve been on the fence with this so I’m glad to read your review. I’m going to pass on these since there’s so much upcoming that’s amazing.

  • The purple in High Society is to die for! The others, eh. Vent Glace looks like two highlighting shades in one compact. Not for me.

Frost shades and chalky, uneven pigmentation are no goes for me. The chalky, streaky ones are so frustrating. Thanks for the review.

I really like High Society but not enough to spend the $ for it.
