Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette for Fall 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review

Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette

Anastasia She Wears It Well is a new eye shadow palette this fall that was inspired by classic old-school Hollywood style.

She Wears It Well features nine shimmer and matte eye shadows, and a dual-ended small applicator. It also has some really cute and helpful large card inserts showing you a fancy lady on one side and how to get a look on the other. See my update below.

Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette Swatches
Trophy, Glow, Foxy, Latte, Sunset (over primer)

These shimmery shadows are in a word: amazing. They are very soft to the touch and incredibly pigmented.

Trophy is a light taupe shade.

Glow is an intense bronze/gold shade.

Foxy is an intense copper/brown.

Latte is a light nude/peach.

Sunset is a peachy gold.

Anastasia She Wears It Well Eye Shadow Palette Swatches 2
Frosting, Onyx, Toffee, Almond (over primer)

Three of these shades are mattes and I got really excellent coverage and pigmentation from most of them.

Frosting is a very light pink shimmer.

Onyx is a deep black matte. Very even and nice coverage.

Toffee is a medium brown matte. Again no patchiness, great coverage.

Almond is a very light nude matte. This one wee a wee bit chalky.

Overall: Great palette. I really love that the shadows are highly pigmented and almost all of them feel super soft and blendable. Only one of them (Almond) was a little off. The shimmery shades, especially Glow and Foxy, are utterly gorgeous. I also love the whole retro Hollywood theme with this palette, and the insert cards are cute and really helpful in creating different looks. UPDATE: I just found out that these cards do not come with the palette, they were sent to me for PR purposes. So sorry for any confusion!

Pricing: $34.00.

Availability: Anastasia, Sephora, Nordstrom.

What do you think about She Wears It Well?

Note: Anastasia is cruelty free.

This looks really pretty but not terribly unique. I know that doesn’t stop most of us but …

The cards actually *make* the set for me. I’ve been looking for a high quality neutral palette, and I think this might be “the one”. I don’t play with eye makeup too much, and tend to do the same look all the time. This seems like a really great way to stretch my comfort zone by creating different looks with an easy-to-wear color palette. (I also love the little Stila palettes for this, as well. I keep Vancouver in my travel case. It’s perfect.)

Yes I love these kind of cards because if I am just not feeling inspired or in a hurry, they give you great ready-to-go ideas. Plus the artwork is so cute.

The whole kit is gorgeous! Even the box, so much detail everywhere! I want to get this but I know I need more mattes than I do shimmery eye shadows, so I’ll probably hold off for now.

This seems like the perfect set for me. The colors are beautiful and I would use every single one of them. Thanks for the review!

That looks really beautiful! I’ve been bypassing the Anastasia gondola at Sephora, but it looks like I need to give a shot.

Did you mention in another post (or tweet?) that the wear time on these wasn’t great, or am I confusing things?

This looks like a great neutral palette with a good balance of shimmery/matte shades (which for some reason isn’t all that common on the market)! The cards are adorable! I’d totally want to do a cat’s meow lol

The cards and old Hollywood feel are a great way to make what could have been a forgettable palette stand out, IMO.

I like the mix of shimmer and matte colors. This would be an extremely versatile palette for me. Not only could i use it for both day and night appropriate looks, but they show you how to do it. I guess it’s time that I give Anastasia look.

I love matte nude shadows that have yellow tones like Almond, they work so well for countering acting redness on lids. Too bad Almond is a bit chalky. I wish more cruelty-free companies made nudes that color. This would be a great palette for someone just starting in makeup, it has a good mix of shades/finishes, so you could create a lot of looks with it alone.

Like others have said, this palette isn’t anything *unique* in terms of color choice. Do I really care? NAH!

I REALLY like the cards that come with the palette. The swatches look amazing :)

Wow, very cool! I really have a hard time resisting neutral palettes, despite having many! I have kind of a vintage aesthetic, so the theme is also up my alley. I really like this idea where they include “looks”…it kind of helps you think of ways to use the palette, as well as using other stuff you have for a similar application. The pricing seems pretty fair, too! Officially on my wishlist!

HI! This palette looks so nice :) The colours look warmtoned – would they work with coldtoned skin? ;)

Oh they are beautiful! I love that they are more neutral instead of out there bonkers like some colors. I wish I had the money to spend on it.

Gorgeous set! I absolutely love that it is based on/inspired by old Hollywood. The shades in the palette will look super pretty with my renewed obsession with vibrant lipsticks (especially reds)! :)

All the eyeshadows in the palette look beautiful. If I had this palette I know I would reach for it more days (and nights) of the week than not. I totally agree with you: Glow and Foxy are super stunning! *swoooooon* Also loving Toffee, such a wonderful matte! I agree with you that Almond is a bit chalky though it definitely isn’t a deal breaker for me. This palette = love! <3

The cards that come with the palette are absolutely lovely! I adore the illustrations of the 'fancy ladies'! It's great that the back of each card has thoughtful instructions for creating different looks. I love how there is an illustrated eye beside each of the written steps. It's so much easier to understand than just having written instructions and an illustration of the final look.

Including the lovely cards with the palette is such a nice touch! It would be so fun to try all the looks! The cards would also be super helpful when I've got the blahs. Functional and beautiful! LOVE them!

This would make such a wonderful gift for a makeup loving lady! I'm definitely adding it to my lemming list, lol! Awesome review and photos (as always!)! :D

I picked up the palette at Sephora but can’t find any cards in it. Was it only provided if purchased through Anastasia ?

    • August 10, 2012

Oh no! I’m not sure mine was sent for review but the cards were inside the box it came in.

I also bought the palette from Sephora, received it Tuesday, and did not get cards *weep*. Sadly, they are the main reason I bought the palette because they make the palette unique imo.

    • August 11, 2012

Dammit, I am sorry! That annoys me that mine came with and I assumed they all did…

  • August 12, 2012

I want this so badly! I love neutral eyes and I ESPECIALLY love that it’s called Anastasia! One of my absolute favorite “Disney” movies (since it’s not really Disney, but as a kid, I classified it as Disney.)

I also did not receive any cards with my palette. Has anyone figured out why? I’m w/Brooke, the reason I bought the palette. Maybe I can return it to Sephora.

    • August 13, 2012

I am sorry :( I just emailed their PR person and asked. Will let you know as soon as I hear back.

    • August 14, 2012

I just found out the cards were just sent for me to check out, they do not come with the palette. I just updated the post. So sorry for the confusion!

Thanks for the update. Would it be possible for you to photograph and share the information on the cards for those of us who were looking forward to receiving those cards w/the palette, as part of a blog post? Thank you.

        • August 14, 2012

Yes I think I can manage that. Stay tuned!
