Revlon Colorstay Smoky Shadow Stick Swatches, Photos & Review

New this summer from Revlon are Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks. These dual-sided chubby sticks come in five shades, each featuring two complimentary colors that can be used together to create a smoky eye effect.
One side is rounded and the other pointed. Both side twist up for more product. They’re definitely easy to use in that it’s like drawing with crayons on your eyes! Neither end is fine enough to use as a liner really, unless you want it super smudged out.
The five shades these come in are:
- Flare
- Smolder
- Volcanic
- Atomic
- Torch

Flare, Atomic, Smolder (no primer)
These sticks feel really creamy and glide onto the skin without tugging or pulling. I felt they had pretty good pigmentation, although the lighter shades on each of them was less pigmented and slightly patchier than the darker shade. All of them are shimmery and definitely work well together. I especially love the Smolder combo.
Flare is a lavender on one end and deep plum on the other.
Atomic is a icy blue on one end and medium teal on the other.
Smolder is a warm gold on one end and a deep forest green on the other.
They claim these are creaseless and long-wearing for up to 12 hours, but I think that might only be true over a primer for me. I have yet to try them out on my eye, but stay tuned for that! Update: I have done the wear test and it was what I expected. On my right eye with primer the shadows stayed on 8 hours with no creasing. On my left eye with no primer I started creasing slightly within 3-3 1/2 hours and REALLY badly after 8 hours.
Availability: Target, Rite Aid, Ulta.
Pricing: $5.50-$7.69.
Have you tried any of these yet? What do you think about these shades?

Note: Revlon is cruelty free.

My facourite of the three is Smolder but I quite like all the color combinations. I don’t think they would be creaseless on their own on my lids either but you never know! Haha
I love the look of that purple one, but I’m hesitant to try these since everything creases on my oily lids. Curious to see whether or not these live up to their claims

I have Atomic, but haven’t tried it yet. Loving the Smolder swatch!
Atomic looks great! Seems the best matching combination of the three!

I keep hoping that something will come along like this that will work without primer, which I always have to use. Let us know if these actually work, unlike the cover girl smoky shadow sticks, which creased on me even with a primer.

Thank you for posting these! I’ve seen them at Target, but wanted to see them tried out first – thanks again!!!
These look great! I dig Atomic! Can’t wait to hear how they perform on your lids

Testing right now. One lid with primer, the other without!
I’m curious about these – I bought one of the CoverGirl ones a while ago (the same set Ms. Barrymore is supposedly wearing in the ad) and found it super greasy and very sheer, not remotely like the “smokey” eye it was meant to create.
I’m intrigued by these- usually I prefer a sharper point for doing any kind of lining, but these combos look quite beautiful nonetheless. I might pick up the lavender/purple combo to try out.

The darker shades look rich. But I’ll be passing on these only because my sensitive eyes tend to be allergic to Revlon products.

Flare & Atomic are nice!
I’m looking forward to your review on these, I remember the Covergirl ShadowBlast (these look similar) from a while back and they were terrible! I’m loving the shades of Smolder from your photos!

Looks like Revlon is trying to keep up with Covergirl! I don’t buy CG due to their animal testing, so I’m happy Revlon finally put out a comprable product.

I’m just wondering in what sense this is an animal friendly blog? Does being a cat lover count towards promoting yourself as animal friendly? Revlon isn’t cruelty free & neither is MAC (the only 2 posts I’ve read). To me this is misleading, especially when mentioned in a cosmetic context.
Revlon is cruelty free, MAC isn’t, as I mention at the bottom of the post. You can read my stance here if interested: http://www.vampyvarnish.com/2012/04/policy-change/
Hello again, I didn’t mean to come across as hostile – I hope I didn’t cause offence. Because Revlon is a large corporation, because they sell their products in China and because they don’t declare their animal testing status clearly on their products or website, I assumed this meant that they weren’t cruelty free. It seems they are notoriously evasive on the subject, I’m currently awaiting their response on this subject.
No worries! I usually go by PETA and My Beauty Bunny lists because they check them more frequently than I do. However having said that, I would not be surprised at all if they technically weren’t because of China. I think in a couple years there won’t be any companies, other than small indie ones, that are truly cruelty free.
Revlon’s prices are very high so unless they got raves from you, I doubt I’d want to buy them.
