Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Swatches, Photos & Review

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain’s are a new product that’s generated quite a bit of buzz!

These chubby pencils are a lip stain that comes in a gel formula and feels a bit like a cross between a moisturizing balm and a gloss, without the stickiness.

They’re super easy to use! They have a nice rounded tip so you just draw ‘em on. The pencil twists up from the bottom when you’re ready for more. They do have a minty smell and slight taste but that goes away after a bit.

Currently they come in 12 shades. I initially bought 5 of them (mainly because most the others were sold out). But then I went back to CVS the next day and the display was fully stocked…so I picked up two more (will post soon)!

Charm, Darling, Cherish, Smitten, Romantic

Charm is a pale peachy shade. Of the ones I have tried thus far, this was the most pale.

Darling is a soft lilac. Very pretty, but on my lips (as you will see below) it looks nearly identical to Cherish. Could just be me, I have fairly pigmented lips.

Cherish is a light cool pink. Love it!

Smitten is a gorgeous medium raspberry pink.

Romantic is a bright warm red.

After effects of swatching with nothing on lips!

So when they say these are stains, they mean it! Especially with the deeper more saturated shades. Smitten and Romantic definitely stained my lips a deep pink/red and this photo is after I wiped of MULTIPLE times with a MAC wipe. The color stayed that way the rest of the day!

Overall: Complete, total love. They are so easy and fun to use, feel moisturizing, stay on really nicely and are glossy to boot. Of the shades here my favs are basically all but Charm, haha! The other two I bought, which I will show soon, are Honey and Sweetheart. The only negative with these is the price. They are a bit $$, especially if you want more than one, which you probably will.

Availability: Target, CVS, Ulta.

Pricing: $10.49 for 0.095 oz. Note: I got them at CVS for $10.49, but elsewhere they seem to be between $7.40-8.00. I feel ripped off!

Have you tried these coveted stains yet? Which ones here are your favorites?

-Kelly

Note: Revlon is cruelty free.

I have 4 of these but I think I need to add Romantic to my collection!! I have found these at my local Walgreens for $8.99 and at my Walmart for 7.89 I think

Ahh so Revlon has come up with yet another much raved-about lip product! It really does leave a very lovely stain behind, which I’m not sure if I’d embrace whole-heartedly (mostly because it’s such a battle to remove it at the end of the day)! And too bad that you paid quite a bit more for these :( I hope the bonus points or whatever will be able to compensate for it later.

I’m so glad that there’s a chubby stick trend going on. I wear lipstick almost all the time and I find sticks are the easiest to apply without a mirror and even if they wear off, you can just swipe some more on without a big to-do. The more saturated, the better.

  • June 16, 2012

I love these so much! My favorite is definitely Romantic, but I’m also enjoying wearing Romantic & Rendezvous mixed together!

Do you prefer these or revlon’s lip butters?

    • June 16, 2012

Hmmm good question. I really like both but maybe the Lip Butters a wee bit more. Mainly because I like the texture of them.

      • June 16, 2012

Kelly, thank you so much for your honest response. I was curious about the texture and you answered my vague question perfectly. Thanks:)

I have Crush, Smitten, and Lovesick. Lovesick is almost a hot pink on me and Crush is a dark, vampy color. All three are perfect and I am looking to try more. Love the formula of these things.

I think it varies at CVS. I have seen it at some CVS for $8.99, and others for $9.50. I think the only places set on the price (from what I have seen) is Target & Rite Aid. Target has it for around $7.69 & Rite Aid has it for $8.99. Walmart varies also: I have seen it for $7.99 and $8.20 (which is pricy for it since it is in Walmart).. lol

I wonder if these compare to the Tarte Lipsurgence stains. I’m hoping “Romantic” would be a decent replacement for Tarte “Lust”.

  • June 16, 2012

I’ve got Rendevous, really like it! IMO, these do compare well to both Tarte’s Lipsurgence and Clinique’s chubby sticks. I’ll be getting more.

Wow Cherish looks completely different on me then it does on you. Its a lot more bubble gum pink on me, I must have paler lips than you. I also have Lovesick which is more of a fuchsia, that one definitely stained my lips. The only prob I noticed is that towards the end of the day as it faded it was flaking off a little.

I love the darker ones on you! That is crazy how much they stain, pretty good if you don’t get a chance to re apply it. Reminds me of the color blast flipstick by I think it was maybeline that was purple, but stained my lips hot pink!

Wow, your CVS is expensive! I originally found Cherish and Sweetheart at Bed Bath & Beyond for $6 something, and then picked up Charm, Honey and Rendevous for $5 something when Walgreens was having its 40% off all things Revlon sale the other week. But even the CVSs around Boston are only topping out at $8.99, as far as I’ve seen.

Anyway, yes, adore these. So far Cherish and Honey are my favorites for every day. But I’ve also layered the new Revlon Colorburst gloss in Sizzle (that gorgeous red-orange) over Charm (which is a little too light on its own on me) for a really nice result.

    • June 16, 2012

I noticed BB&B always has Revlon cheaper. Lip Butters there are $4.99 for my BB&B, while it’s above $6 elsewhere.

I haven’t found these anywhere except HEB in Austin and I think they’re around $7. $10 seems a bit steep to me but I guess drugstore prices have been creeping up too. I have Lovesick and I was surprised that it didn’t totally dry my lips out. I’m really impressed with Revlon lately.

  • June 16, 2012

Would definitely try these, but not for $10! I’d rather just try the Clinique Chubby Sticks for that much.

I do like this new packaging, though. The old packaging was poorly reviewed, at least from the blog posts and videos I watched on them.

As soon as I tried these I fell in love. I bought 2 at first and now I have 9 I think… they are really great and look so pretty on. The only thing is I wish they had a true red color. The reds they have are a little orangey. Other than that, these are perfect in my eyes. Revlon has outdone themselves lately with these and their Lip Butters.

  • June 17, 2012

I have Charm, Honey, and Rendezvous. Honey is my favorite by far and it is my new staple lip product in my purse. Charm is nice but the stain effect is a little weird on that one because it’s a lighter color than my lips, but the stain is a dark pink. I also love Rendezvous b/c i’m obsessed with anything orange!

Can we confirm that they are definitely not sticky?? I am ALWAYS on the lookout for a GOOD lip product that looks like gloss but is more of a balm. I have really long hair and I cant stand when it gets caught in my lip product Haha. I think Ill have to try these out, especially Smitten, looks awesome on you.

I only have honey. I got it at target for around $5 because I used a $2 off coupon. There weren’t many left though but honey is really wonderful!

  • June 18, 2012

Oh, thanks for these swatches! They are the best I’ve seen yet. So far I’ve only got Honey, but you’ve convinced me to pick up a few more. In general, I only wear lipstick when I’m on stage, but these guys just have such a casual feel that they’re hard to resist.

Just picked up Smitten at CVS. It was “on sale” for $9.49. I used a $1 off coupon I got from Ulta. Ulta has a display of these with the new Color Stay nail polish and something else. There was a pad of coupons on the lip stain portion of the display. There were only a few colors left, and none in the regular section. I don’t remember the Ulta pricing.

I absolutely adore these. I have them in Cherish and Sweetheart. I would have purchased more of them, but they were practically sold out!

They are quite similar to the Clinique Chubby Sticks and the Tarte Lipsurgence, but at a much lower price point and with better color payoff.

If you are fortunate enough to have a Harmon Discount or a Harmon Face Values in your area, buy your cosmetics there as they will always be 25% to 30% lower in price than at your local drugstore. For example, these are between $5.79 and $6.49 at Harmon, and they run between $8 and $10 in my local drugstores. If you don’t have a Harmon near you, you can order from their website–harmondiscount (dot) com.

I found your post searching for where to buy these after drugstore.com ran out.

I recently bought Smitten, which wasn’t the right color for me–looks much more BRIGHT pink on me so I have to go very easy and use a “toner” gloss. It’s hard to choose a color online and I haven’t found them locally (I’m in Portland,OR) –only the previous separate stain and balm variety.

Anyway, nice to find your blog and thanks for the in-depth review! I feel like Revlon has nailed it for me with these balms, at least formulation-wise. I look forward to trying other colors– Adore, Charm, Rendezvous, and… maybe even Honey. Can’t wait til they’re back in stock!

  • August 11, 2012

I have smitten and I think it is really bright pink on me too. I’m medium skin toned too. It looks much better swatched on you. But I do like the stain it leaves behind. Not drying either.

    Hi,
Thanks so much for all this info. I really want to get my hands on these but I live in Ireland and the biggest Boots pharmacy has a really limited choice of them, and doesnt even stock them properly so I’ve been waiting for ages and I’m getting very impatient. Do you by any chance know if/where can I get these online? I dont think any of the American stores like target or ulta deliver to Ireland, so I’m looking for an international website where I can get these. Hope you can help me!
    Thanks!

    • August 21, 2012

I don’t I’m sorry! Have you tried Googling it? I have a feeling they’re going to be hard to find online.

They finally arrived in Barbados! Colour swatches on Revlon site are not really helpful and store did not have any samples so took a chance with Romantic – a nice red and as bright as you want depending on how much you put on – brilliant!
Went back and bought Cherish – kind of raspberry/fuchsia – again can be as vibrant as you want. And they definitely do leave a stain – unlike others that I’ve tried.
I’m going back for more – this is what I’ve been looking for for years.
