MAC Permanent Nail Lacquers – 31 Colours, 3 Finishes Swatches & Review
MAC now has a permanent Nail Lacquer collection that features 31 colours and 3 finishes.
The colours are light, dark and everything in-between, and the finishes include cream, frost and pearl (and adding my own finish sub-categories there are duochromes, foils and a glitter also).
Impassioned
Impassioned is a bright pink cream. This pink is on the warm side and happens to be a really flattering shade on me. The formula wasn’t as bad as some other MAC creams I have tried. I still needed three coats for complete even coverage though.
Morange
Morange is a bright orange cream. Nice shade for summer. The formula was a little more streaky than Impassioned but not too bad. I used two coats here.
Midnight Tryst
Midnight Tryst is a silvery/grey with a frosty finish. Yeah not a fan of frost finishes, and really don’t know too many people who are. But the color itself is cool. It almost takes on a greenish tone in certain lighting. A wee bit streaky, as frosts can be, but decent coverage in three thin coats.

If you’re interested in Mean and Green, check out Hard Candy Beetle. Very similar and about 1/5 the price.
Orly Space Cadet is also a dupe of it, but can be tricky to find now.

Impassioned is pretty, but I can’t see spending $16 for these. Especially at .34 oz compared to the normal .5 oz bottles most brands offer.

I see Mean & Green and Formidable but I wish they brought back Bad Fairy too :/
Same here! I missed out on Bad Fairy. It would’ve been nice if they added that to the permanent collection.

These are all… fine? I guess? Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE MAC, for just about everything *except* their polish. I don’t see anything in these colors that would make me willing to pay that price or deal with the MAC formula issues.
I wish the second pic showing all of the colors was clickable! I need to see these bigger before judging.

I’ve never tried MAC polishes and I don’t know that I will, these are pretty but not really unique enough for me to spend double what I normally am willing to spend.

I love impassioned! Pity the formulation isn’t the best though
So many of these Macs look like something I’ve seen before. Which ones must-haves, if you can think of it off the top of your head?
Oh MAC… you disappoint me when it comes to your nail lacquer. I always hope for an awesome unique color from you, but you always seem to fail. None of these polishes look original to me, I guess they make a decent core line…but its pretty boring, I wish they were as creative with their nail lacquers as they are with their makeup

These are regular nail polishes.
Nothing is really calling my name, so far, when it comes to the permanent lacquers. I don’t see anything really unique yet!

midnight tryst reminds me of Chanel’s black pearl….
None of these really look unique, or like something I don’t already have. Wish they went for an evenly diversified range and not just all different shades of red and grey-blue.
