Becca Balearic Love Collection for Summer 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review

New this summer from Becca comes the Balearic Love Collection. Balearic Love features deep and earthy shades such as sand, plum and bronze. Included in the collection is a limited edition palette, a new Eye Tint shade, new shade of their Line and Define Pencil, a Mineral Blush, a new Sheer Tint Lip Colour and three new Nail Colours.
Becca is a brand I am only a tiny bit familiar with. Many, many years ago I bought an amazing shimmery taupe eyeshadow from them and used it up COMPLETELY. This is rare! I absolutely adored it, but alas, I cannot remember the name anymore. But the texture of it was so amazingly soft and it was super rich. The best shimmery taupe eyeshadow I ever owned. Sigh.
Let’s do this!

Balearic Love Palette

Balearic Love Palette

Atlas, Marcella, Romal (over primer)
The Balearic Love Palette comes in a nice little palette featuring three shades, a mirror and mini eye brush. The eyeshadows varied in texture.
Here is what confused me about this palette. The shades on the bottom didn’t match what the shades said on the press release. Also the press release listed the colors being a bit different from what I view them as. So here is MY take on what the shades look like in real life.
Atlas is a medium warm sand/taupe matte. Slightly hard texture, but not bad payoff.
Marcella is a very dark chocolate brown matte. This was the softest one and had great payoff.
Romal is a deep shimmery bronze/violet with shimmery pieces. This was in-between Atlas and Marcella in terms of texture. But a gorgeous and fairly unique shade I think.

Mineral Blush in Bolero

Line And Define Pencil in Cabrera, Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Valentina, Eye Tint in Romanticism

Mineral Blush in Bolero, Line And Define Pencil in Cabrera, Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Valentina, Eye Tint in Romanticism
Mineral Blush in Bolero is a matte medium brown/pink shade. It’s SUPER soft and very pigmented. You can use it as either a blush or bronzer actually.
Line And Define Pencil in Cabrera is a dual-ended liner. One end has a metallic bronze and the other is a dark violet shade. I was very surprised by how soft this pencil was. SO soft, and it glided on and smudged out really nicely. I really like it.
Eye Tint in Romanticism is a mauve/bronze shimmery cream. You can use it alone or over powder shadows. On it’s own on the eye, it’s a medium/pale wash of color. You can build it up a little bit though. Over a eyeshadow primer it lasts a long time with no creasing.
Sheer Tint Lip Colour in Valentina is a pink shade. It’s a bit shiny, very hydrating and infused with Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Honey and Vitamin E. It’s not meant to be fully opaque, hence the name, but it would up being pretty opaque on my lips. I like that the cap screws on at the bottom, so it can’t pop off in your bag. Also it has a brown sugar scent/taste to it, not overly strong though.

Nail Colour

Cala Blanca
Cala Blanca is a nude/sand colored creme. I like this shade, it’s a little unusual on my skin tone and you know me, I like “weird” colors. Nice formula not too thick or sheer. It covered nicely in two coats.

Tempranillo
Tempranillo is a deep wine red jelly. It’s super shiny as has that squishy jelly-like see-throughness. But it’s a three-coater and not as even as I would have liked.

Pasa Doble
Pasa Doble is a black creme. They describe it as a black plum but the only time I ever see the plum is inside the bottle when I take out the wand and wipe it down the inside of the bottle. SO subtle. It’s maybe somehow a little less harsh than a BLACK black, but still definitely looks black. Nice formula, this was two coats.

Overall: This is really my first “go” at a selection of various Becca products and I am pretty pleased. I do think the eyeshadow shades in the palette could have been a bit softer, but that’s my only complaint about it. My favorite items are the Line And Define Pencil because it was so creamy and I loved the colors, and the Mineral Blush because it was super soft and pigmented. Also you can get dual usage out of this shade using it as a bronzer. The Nail Colours are a good formula overall, but not especially unique shades.
Availability: Becca.
Pricing: Palette ($45) each shadow is 0.05 oz, Eye Tint ($24) for 0.24 oz, Pencil ($23) for 0.049 oz, Blush ($32) for 0.2 oz, Lip Colour ($24) for 0.1 oz, and Nail Colour ($15) for 0.51 oz.

The colors are definitely pretty and easy to wear but not ones I would use in a collection called ‘Balearic Love’, to be honest.
This is the first time I’ve heard of Becca. I’m liking the colors!

I like the products on you!
The blush looks a bit too muddy for my skin tone but the eyeshadows are sooo pretty. Dark chocolate brown that doesn’t read black is so hard to find! And the eye pencil looks lovely too!

Oh Kelly I absolutely love Becca, however I sure wish they sell in a retail store in SF. If u haven’t tried, please try their tinted moisturizer, it’s the best I’ve ever tried. Also their blushes puts a glow on the face, so soltry. I think I must get the palette.
The eye tint and lip color are really gorgeous but I don’t know if I would pay that price.
Oooo, love Romal and would buy that if it were in a single! Your eye look is beautiful love the colors.
