BB Couture Rhythm & Blues Collection Swatches & Review – Part I
Look what just landed on my desk! The new BB Couture Rhythm & Blues collection! This is a typical two-parter for BB Couture featuring the “regular” side (Rhythm) and the “For Men” side (Blues).
The Rhythm side features six new shades all in various finishes. Unlike the Blues side, which are all blue, we have more colors here and some unusual ones to boot! That’s what I love about BB Couture. They are not afraid of weird or what some people call ugly shades. The ugly ones usually turn out to be my favorites.
The formula was not totally consistent with these, some were two coats some three. A couple were a little streaky.
Dance, Beat, BPM
Pattern, Tempo, Frequency
Dance is a bright sky blue with subtle light blue shimmer. Gorgeous vivid blue and really nice creamy consistent formula. It was thick but not sticky, and covered in two coats.
Beat is a light green with silver shimmer. This is a really hard green to describe. It’s not mint, not grass, not celadon. It’s a mellow kind of quiet green but the shimmer makes it more interesting, though it’s subtle. Good formula, good coverage, this was two coats.
BPM is a medium pink with a heavy silver shimmer finish. It’s almost frosty. The pink is kind of a mauve or greyed out subtle toned pink. Really nice formula though, and it was just a wee bit streaky. This was two coats.
Pattern is a pastel cantaloupe creme. I do really like this color but the formula was the most difficult to work with. It was very uneven and a bit thick. Even after three coats it doesn’t completely cover evenly.
Tempo is a pale avocado yellow/green creme. I am completely in love with this one. It’s a very unique shade of yellow/green. I don’t think I have anything like it. There were some issues with it being a little uneven, but after three thin coats it’s fairly even. Love it.
Frequency is a yellow/orange/camel/green with pink shimmer. Doesn’t that sound hideous? But it’s COOL! The base color is a really muted and strange shade of baby poo. But in a good way! And then there is this amazing pink shimmer that you don’t see at first. I love the combo, it’s definitely unique. The formula was a little patchy and sheer, so go slow when applying and wait in-between coats. This was three coats.
Overall: Good collection! I think the stand-out and most unique shades are Beat, Tempo and Frequency, but I also really liked Dance. Pattern is a nice shade, just wish the formula had worked for me a little better.
Pricing: $10.95 (yes it seems prices have gone up!) for 0.5 oz.
Ok now that you have seen them, what do you think? Are there any here you need?
Stay tuned for the Blues part soon!
