NYX Spring Fling Palette for Spring 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review

NYX Cosmetics Spring Fling Palette might be the perfect palette for those who love pale pastel shades in the spring and summer.
Spring Fling features twelve matte and pearl eyeshadows, two blushes, two lip glosses and highlight/contour powders. All of this comes wrapped up in a really pretty heavy cardboard palette with cherry blossoms on the cover and inside. It also has a nice large mirror.

The blushes, lip glosses and highlight/contour powders are hidden away inside a pull-out drawer.

Top row left to right (over primer)
All the eyeshadows feel very soft to the touch. The mattes did tend to be a little bit chalky looking, but then again most are pastels. The shimmers showed up a bit more on the skin.
First is a very pale pink/nude matte.
Second is a light vanilla matte.
Third is a pearly lavender shade.
Fourth is a pale lilac matte.
Fifth is a bright pale green pearl. Love this green shade.

Second row left to right (over primer)
First is a deep chocolate brown matte. Nice and even.
Second is a pearly medium mauve.
Third is a pale light blue pearl. One of my favs.
Fourth is a vivid yellow pearl. Another great one.
Fifth is a VERY pale pearly orange. For some reason this shade is extremely sheer and doesn’t show up very well.

Blushes, highlight/contour powder
The first blush is a peach matte but I had a hard time getting it to show up very well in my swatch.
The second one is more pigmented and is a bright pink matte.
The highlight shade is a bright white and the contour shade is a black. I still find these shades really extreme and odd to contour with…

Lipglosses
The first shade is nearly completely clear, though it looks pale pink in the palette.
The second shade is a bright sheer pink shade.
Overall: Well you definitely have to like pastels and more sheer shades to be into this palette. There were a few eyeshadow shades I really liked, but most were pretty sheer for me. The blushes and lip glosses didn’t grab me that much. It doesn’t feel like the quality is there as much as their individual products.
Availability: NYX Cosmetics.
Pricing: $25.00.
Now that you have seen Spring Fling, is it your style or no? How do you feel about pastel eyeshadows?
-Kelly

Yeah, that black contour is SUPER odd.
I agree, I can’t imagine the black contour looking great. It’s a shame though, it was a good price for the set.

I loved the shades looking at them in the pans but not so much anymore. So sheer! I love pastels but only when they’re very pigmented. And… black and an almost-white contour and highlight?! What? Unless you’re going for a really, comically dramatic look, I don’t see how that would work. Disappointing.
I have to agree with everyone in saying I don’t understand the black contour. Even on very dark complexions, I feel like it would just end up looking ashy or weird. When I first saw it, I thought that maybe it was a powder eyeliner or something. And a white highlight? Really? It doesn’t even look very shimmery, either. NYX makes some really confusing things sometimes, and this is a good example of that.
It looks nice, I like the cherry blossoms, but pastel eyeshadows are really not my thing!

If the drawer wasn’t there, and the price was lower, I would have bought it
It’s very very pretty!
I don’t care for what’s inside at all, but the packaging is so nice.
I’m pretty sure I can’t carry off pastel eye shadows. Love the cherry blossom packaging, though!

I guess they make for good highlight tints?
This looks terrible to me – very sheer, very pale, and a black contour shade? NYX sometimes is awesome, but they really did it wrong this time.

In the palette, the colours looked really pretty and spring-like, but I didn’t care for the swatches (even though your swatches are always superb!
). A lot of the pastels looked chalky, and whenever I try to wear a lot of pastels for an eye look, I wind up looking crazy…haha! (Maybe that’s why I tend to wear dark, smokey looks.)

Bummer, I was hoping for so much more color from this palette. It looks nice packaging wise but everything is much too pastel for my liking.

Darn. I’m personally a fan of pastels – I’m cool and pale enough that I can pull them off and I think they’re a good work-safe way to inject color into a look and I could have used most of the colors, but the quality doesn’t seem to be there
Thanks for the swatches! ^^
Super pretty in pan, but too sheer for me
The colors don’t appeal to me too much but the palette itself is just lovely.

Bleh. Passing. Having bought – and returned – the Dark Shadows Crimson Amulet palette and knowing how chalky and unpigmented it was I can only imaging that these are just as bad. Weren’t NYX shadows better in the past? It’s like, “what happened?!”

Glad I saw this before I bought it. I was so close to buying this without seeing swatches because I loved the colors and packaging. Now I’m going to pass. Normally I love NYX stuff but I can’t get pass the chalky shades and sheer pigmentation.
Those aren’t contour shades. On NYX’s website they consider the black and white eyeshadows. It says 12 eyeshadows, 2 blushes and 2 glosses.
Interesting! On the press release they sent me with the palette it says they are contour shades.
Ehh..this one doesn’t impress me.
So sad the colors are so sheer
Btw, the palette retails for $18, not $25
Their press release said $25…
