NCLA Summer of ’69 Collection Swatches & Review

Have you heard of NCLA yet? If not, here’s a little background.
NCLA Los Angeles is a small company that started with a line of nail wraps, but has now expanded into a line of nail lacquers. The lacquers are five free, meaning no DBP, Toulene, Formaldehyde or Camphor. And cruelty free!
They have a new collection this summer called Summer of ’69 that features three shades and I’ve got ‘em for ya today.

I’m With The Band
I’m With The Band is a super bright coral shimmer. This is a really beautiful saturated color. The shimmer is somewhat subtle but makes it a little more interesting than a plain creme, I think. The formula was on the thick side, but not unmanageable. Two coats is all you need.

Eight Days A Week
Eight Days A Week is a vivid cornflower blue creme. This hits just the right note between blue and lavender. One of my very favorite shades of anything on earth. The formula was a little tricky with this one for me. Was a bit thick and wanted to create small bubbles if I didn’t wait long enough between coats. I only needed two though for complete coverage.

Hello, I Love You!
Hello, I Love You! is a bright raspberry purple creme. This one is pretty sheer going on but after three coats mostly covers completely. This was the best formula of the three. Smooth, thin and easy to apply without thick areas or bubbling.
Overall: Of three three I tried, I really liked two of the shades (I’m With The Band and Eight Days A Week). But the best formula was the shade I didn’t love on me (Hello, I Love You!).
Availability: NCLA Shop and boutiques.
Pricing: $16.00 for .5 oz.
Anything here you like?
-Kelly
Note: NCLA is a cruelty free company.

I’m With the Band is my favorite of the three. It looks almost neon to me!

meh sorry….and they don’t seem very summery or festive…unlike some of the other collections you’ve reviewd! I’d have to pass… esp. at $16 each… yikes.

None of these called to me. At this price point the colors need to be more unique!
Wonder if Pamela Des Barres knows they named a nail polish after her tell-all groupie bio? It’s absolutely one of my most favorite books. Let’s see, Hello, I Love You! is a Doors reference, and Eight Days a Week = Beatles. I LOVE anything that references classic rock!
I have that book! Had it for like 22 years now, great story.
Eight Days a Week is stunning- I agree, cornflower blue is one of my favourite shades for anything. I’m kind of attracted to Hello, I Love You! because of how squishy it looks, almost like a jelly. Pretty colours! It might take something more unique though, at that price, to get me to pull the trigger.

Did not know of this brand. I like I’m With the Band first and Eight Days a week second…not all that thrilled with Hello, I Love You! Now I am going to have “Summer of ’69″ in my head all day (Bryan Adams version, lol)!
I have a few NCLA polishes and I love them. They wear beautifully.

I find them a little pricey for the colors they offer… But I love to discover new (to me) brands. Thanks for the swatches!

I have chatted with her online a few times and she is a cool lady. In our high school senior paper, she was my Person Most Admired, which puzzled my parents! Thank goodness there was no Internet then for them to look her up!
That was supposed to go under our PBD discussion! Whoops!

I really like Eight days a week! I like I’m with the band too, but I think it may be close to china glaze surfin’ for boys. Hmm. I really need to pick up a good periwinkle color.
