Milani Color Perfect Lipstick for Spring 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review
New from Milani this year are eight new additions to their Color Perfect Lipstick range. These will be exclusive to CVS stores and hopefully out soon!
These lipsticks don’t look like that standard ones when you open the top. They are kind of geometric looking. Futuristic! They have a contoured tip for easier application and are super smooth and creamy on the lips. They feel very moisturizing and really comfortable. There is one thing though…
They have a very specific floral scent and taste. Very lipstick-y. So if you have an aversion to scent/taste, these might not be for you.
The eight new shades being introduced are:
- Red Velvet (47)
- Brown Suede (48)
- Plum Deluxe (49)
- Nude Creme (50)
- Pink Passion (51)
- Pink Love (52)
- Barely There (53)
- Red Label (54)
Barely There, Nude Creme, Red Label, Red Velvet, Brown Suede, Plum Deluxe
Barely There is a soft pink/nude creme. Really nice on me, might be my favorite one of these.
Nude Creme is a slightly more brown and warm creme shade than Barely There.
Red Label is a bright medium red creme.
Red Velvet is a deep blue-based red creme.
Brown Suede is a brown sugar color with gold pearl.
Plum Deluxe is a deep brown/plum with red pearl.

Overall: I really love the texture of these lipsticks. They are super smooth, feel really nice on the lips, and have great payoff. The only thing I wasn’t thrilled about was that floral scent/taste.

How important is scent/taste to you in a lipstick? Is it enough to turn you off from purchasing?

Scent/taste is quite important to me, if the lipstick smells ‘lipstick-y’, as you described it, I just can not stand it on my lips so I won’t buy it.

Ooo I’d love to try Red Label! I never lick my lips, so taste wouldn’t bother me (in fact, how lipsticks taste is something I systematically leave out of my reviews because I never taste them), but scents do. I wouldn’t want to wear something that smells like Kool Aid for example!

These are really nice – I can see myself wearing most of them. I prefer an unscented product, but a little bit of scent doesn’t bother me!

A bad lipsticky fragrance is a deal breaker for me because I’m pretty sensitive to scents, and if it’s in a product that I’ll be using on my lips (which are so close to my nose), it’s a big deal.
I prefer my lip products to be unscented unless they’re like yummy vanilla (like the MAC lipsticks!).
These colours are okay, but nothing really calls out to me, and the package is ugly.
Honestly, Milani couldn’t have made it prettier? Haha! (I rarely diss packaging, but these are so unappealing to me!) :S

I had a couple of Milani lipsticks and was impressed with the product itself…good color payoff, no bleeding, good staying power…but the smell. THE SMELL. It is bad. Normally I am not too sensitive about those things, but these are hardcore “grandma” in their scent & taste.
I love those reds! Luckily, I’m only sensitive to lipstick fragrances when they have turned ‘bad’. I bet these lose their scent rather quickly. Well, I hope so!
The packaging is slick and neat.

I’m digging Brown Suede a lot, at least the way it looks in your lip swatches. Huh. Would not have been my first pick from the name or the tube color, but I love that rose-gold shimmer.
