Finger Paints Summer In The City for Summer 2012 Swatches & Review

Finger Paints Summer in the City is a new six-piece collection featuring mostly bright pops of color in various finishes.
As far as formula, there were a couple small issues. A few of the creme shades were really thick and gloopy on the wand. Both of the blue polishes (To-Teally Hot and Late Night Rendez-vouz) immediately dyed my nails blue, and wouldn’t completely come off. That’s actually fairly typical for me and super pigmented blue nail polish. Most of the Finger Paints blue shades dye my nails more than most other brands for some reason!

Sexy Sundress
Sexy Sundress is a bright lime green/yellow creme. This isn’t a dupe for OPI Who The Shrek Are you? though. That one is a little more subdued and less lime, more pea green. This is brighter. This was one of the really thick gloopy ones, but the color is nice nonetheless. My coats were too thick her, and you can see some areas where it doesn’t lay flat. This was still three coats despite the thickness.

Beach Bound
Beach Bound is a deep royal purple creme. Pretty shade, nice formula and covered in two coats. Nothing that unique though.

Flip Flop Fuchsia
Flip Flop Fuchsia is a bright fuchsia pink creme. Very shiny and pretty pink shade. Covered nicely in two coats, but again, nothing we haven’t seen before.

To-Teally Hot
To-Teally Hot is a teal creme. This leans towards the blue side a little more than green. This was the other one with a really thick sticky formula but it worked out. This was two coats. I always love any teal.

Movie In The Park
Movie In The Park is a purple and blue glitter. The base color is a pale purple and it’s packed with purple and blue round micro-glitter. This was thin and easy to apply if you wait a bit in-between coats. It nearly covers my nail line in three coats, but not quite.

Late Night Rendez-vouz
Late Night Rendez-vouz is a deep blue metallic shimmer. The shimmer is a little green/yellow so you almost get a duochrome effect. It looks more apparent in real life than in this photo. Nice even coverage, smooth formula and this was two coats.
Overall: I liked all the shades here, but a few were ones I have seen repeats of many times. My favorites were Sexy Sundress and To-Teally Hot.
Availability: Sally Beauty Supply.
Pricing: $4.99
What do you think about Summer in the City? Anything here you want?

Love the collection lined up as a whole, but I feel like I have dupes for all of these.
These colors look sooooo dupey. Kind of disappointed in these
Sexy Sundress is fun though.

Oh wow, these are a bit of a let down. Late Night looks like a Catch Me in Your Net/Charla/Teal of Fortune/Halley’s Comet dupe.

Can’t wait to see them…
Definitely a very dupey collection, right off the bat Beach Bound looks like Orly Charged Up. Still, very pretty colors though. Great summer brights.

I think I’ll be getting the two purples since purple is a color i don’t have many of in my collection.
I really like Flip Flop Fuchsia and To-teally hot, though I’m not sure I’m ready to deal with the staining. I think Movie in the Park would look GREAT layered over another shade too!

Love the “Movie In The Park” and “Late Night Rendez-vouz”! They really saved this collection (though “Sexy Sundress” really catches my eye even though it’s not that unique). I think I might get them!

Movie in the Park looks pretty interesting. I bet it would be fun to use as a layering polish.

sexy sundress makes me squee!
I’m loving Sexy Sundress! I can always throw in a few drops of thinner if it’s too thick. Great pics!

I have Sexy Sundress and it too is very gloopy. Glad to know mine is not the only one. My Sally’s didn’t have them all so I missed Flip Flop Fuschia, I think I need that one and To-teally Hot! Great post!

Sexy Sundress is really nice! It’s the only one here that really interests me. Overall a good looking collection, though.

My Sally’s ladies failed me; they never called to let me know they got new Finger Paint’s in. I’m not too disappointed though. There’s nothing here that screams out at me and something I don’t have a close dupe to already.

I totally dismissed Movie in the Park because, based on the bottle shots, it looked like Sinful Colors Frenzy. (Also Spoiled Battle of the Sexes.) It’s interesting to learn that MitP is tinted.
