Urban Decay New (Revamped) Eyeshadows! Swatches, Photos & Review

Guess what? Urban Decay has reformulated their eyeshadows! They now come in 68 shades and you can buy them either as single or in a 6-piece palette.
Not only did they reformulate them to be super soft, velvety and opaque, about half of them were previously only available in palettes.
These new shadows are longer lasting, easier to blend and have a smoother finish and feel. They also come in a new gunmetal case which you can use on it’s own or easily pop out (without using the flat iron method!) to add into their palette.
Five of the shadows I have for you today were previously only in palettes, and they are: Kush, Pistol, Rockstar, Lost and Zephyr.

Clockwise: Zephyr, Lost, Pistol, Rockstar, Kush, Shattered

Zephyr, Pistol, Lost

Shattered, Kush, Rockstar

Zephyr, Lost, Pistol

Shattered, Kush, Rockstar

Zephyr, Lost, Pistol, Shattered, Kush, Rockstar
Zephyr is a shimmery off-white shadow. Very opaque and crazy soft.
Lost is a deep shimmery bronze/brown. Again so incredibly velvety smooth and opaque.
Pistol is a shimmery steel grey/brown. This is just as soft, but a little more sheer than the other two.
Shattered is a shimmery duotone. It’s a pale blue with yellow duotone effect. So pretty and soft!
Kush is a sparkly shimmer shadow. It’s a bright grass green. Because of the sparkle it doesn’t feel as soft as the others but that’s to be expected I think.
Rockstar is a shimmery deep eggplant purple. Rockstar eyeliner has long been my favorite liner, and this matching shadow is great as well!
Overall: As far as the new packaging and shadow textures, I love them. They are just as soft and saturated as they said they would be. I like that you can easily pop them out of the case into a palette without ruining them.
However, they are pricey! They are $18.00 for 0.05 oz. If you buy the palette (which is also $18) it comes with the shadow Walk Of Fame, which is a pinky/peach matte shade. The palette has a large mirror and brush included as well. So overall you are paying $108.00 for the palette and 6 eyeshadows.
Availability: Urban Decay.
Pricing: $18.00 for 0.05 oz.
So what do you think about these new shadows? Worth the repackaged, revamped formula or too expensive for you?
-Kelly

I ‘m really interested in picking up a couple of shades, but I’ll for sure skip the palette! I prefer to use my own brushes, and I really think UD should think about making bigger palettes (how about 10 or 12 slots) as well as lowering the price. When I first saw this system I kind of regretted purchasing Naked2, but then I saw the price and completely changed my mind. If the pricing doesn’t change, I think their palettes will go on selling well, but this system wouldn’t be as successful as they hope it’d be.

I think its a neat idea if you have a lot of UD singles stacked up. Unfortunately, a lot of us probably have single shades already that won’t fit into the palette :/
The old ones do fit into this new palette
But that is really the only positive thing to be said about the palette :/
I love the colors but the price is a bit much for me… I’ll most likely purchase shadow and forego the palette. Great swatches!

Love, love these! Especially, Pistol, Shattered, and Kush. Hmm… wonder if these would be 15% this week at Sephora??
They aren’t at Sephora now so I kind of doubt it. :/
I think the price is crazy. The shadows are lovely and I like UD shadows, so I’m interested to try the new formula. Not enough to pay that much for the palette though.

Yes, they’re expensive with a capital $, which means no, I won’t be buying the palette or very many of them. Makeup at this price is reserved for items I am absolutely 100% in love with – and sadly, Rockstar fits that bill. I have the Rockstar 24/7 pencil and the color works like no other for my blue eyes – but because it’s so soft it usually creates way too thick a line (being of a certain age, eyeliner that’s too heavy is not an improvement), and I think with the shadow and my flat eyeliner brush, I can get a much better line.
The silver lining is that the old formula UD shadows I already have last *forever*, so I don’t know when I’ll ever need to replace them
.
I really love the texture of these and the colors, but the cost of filling a palette is a little bit much, ya know? Compared to the cost of a MAC single shadow, I’m willing to pay the $3.50 difference for UD when their textures are consistently better. UD seems to have listened to what the customers want when it comes to improving quality! (But of course, like the junkie I am, I’ll still buy the occasional MAC shadow.)

I like the idea but Im not feeling these. To me these colors are missing something. Maybe that is why they were in pallets?

I’ll continue to buy from indie companies, definitely in my price range. $100+ for SIX shadows? Oh, puh-lease. I only buy from UD when it’s in their sale section and have a promo. I really aced out on the Roller Girl palette and double eyeliners on their F&F sale.
I love my Naked palette, however $18 a pop is a bit steep so I will be purchasing a few individual ones. I have to have Fishnet!
$108 USD isn’t expensive when you consider here in Australia a NARS eyeshadow duo is AUD$75. So heaven forbid these ever do make it to our overpriced shores the eyeshadows will most likely be about 40 a pop (Mac are $33). You Americans have no idea how lucky you are…
I really like the packaging and a lot of the colours.

The colors that you have look amazing and it sounds like they are awesome shadows! But they are way too pricey for my budget. I would love to be able to use these but can’t afford them. Oh well…I can look at the pretties online.
I love the look of Rockstar, and the new packaging is great, but it’s a bit too expensive. It would have to be a really special eyeshadow for me to drop that much on one shadow.

Love UD! Really psyched about this!
I think the build your own palette is a great deal! I’m already checking it out on UD.com.

i think the idea is great, but the price is too high. i don’t have so many eyeshadows, so Ialways find a new combination I like in the palettes available in the market…

Ugh this just makes me so sad. They really boxed me out with their pricing on these shadows. Urban Decay is my all time fave. I never got into MAC, only UD. I love the concept, the packaging is gorgeous… I’m sure the quality is outstanding and worth the price but I have to feed my kids. lol

this sucks they over priced this both the individual shadows and palette. also, the palette looks somewhat dated as far as design and usability.
These look great and I’m totally looking forward to checking them out. My biggest issue with previous UD shadows I have is the glitter shades ending up all over my cheeks! Do you have any input on that aspect?
The only one that contains glitter I haven’t yet worn yet but yes, the others ones always did that to me. Really the best thing to do when applying a glittery shadow is do your eyes first so you can wipe up the damage without ruining your other makeup. What a pain!
Too expensive and it pleases me that nearly everyone else is saying that too, because that means that UD will be stuck with a bunch of overstock and will need to do something about that…sale time! I’m hoping they run a big 40% off or BOGOFREE sale a few times a year, or throw out some promo codes once in awhile for decent savings. Like everyone else, I think these look fantastic and I do want them, but woooo that price.
I do see quite a few people buying one or two of these at full price though. I just know I’ve heard grumbling about how one or two shades get used up in palettes but there is no single to replace their favorites. Well now there probably is! (Like those above who are excited to see Darkhorse.)
I just don’t see too many buying the palette and filling it. While it’s nice they give you an exclusive shade to get you started, they should have just let you pick a shade when you put the palette in your shopping cart.
Not paying full price at all. I’m in college and not making that much money. I’ll wait till they’re on sale.
