Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has a new collection out called The Garden Collection this spring/summer.
This collection features five new Nail Lacquers (and a re-promote), five Loose Colour Concentrates, and six new Lip Tars. It was inspired by poisonous and psychotropic plants (oooh groovy!) as well as more earthy tones found in nature.
Recently OCC changed their bottle shape from a soft square to this harder rectangle shape. I like the way they look and line up. However, and this only really applies to those blogging about nail polish, the shape makes it really hard to hold and get an attractive photo of your hands! So I apologize in advance for the lame finger angles, but I did my best with my short digits.

Kava Kava
Kava Kava is a beige/nude color with a frosty finish. It’s very close to my natural skin tone, which does nothing for me personally. Ok application, not too streaky for a frost. But you know, I’m not a fan of frosts so much. This was three coats.

Chlorophyll
Chlorophyll is a mesmerizing bright green creme and a re-promote. Amazing color, fantastic formula and just an overall solid polish. Two coats.

Phantasm
Phantasm is an icy blue metallic. Very silvery blue. It’s a little on the sheerer side and I think three coats is best. Nothing to write home about, I’m not sure it’s that unique.

Chimera
Chimera is a green metallic. Now this one was MUCH more opaque and creamier than Phantasm was. The color is overall richer looking, which I like. This was two coats.

Copperhead
Copperhead (over Chlorophyll) is a copper glitter suspended in clear polish. I love copper so this is allllright in my book. This is just one coat but you can easily build up as much as you like!

Arsenic
Arsenic is a silver glitter in a clear base. It’s silver, it’s glitter, it’s definitely nothing we haven’t seen 20 billion times before. But I think every company has to have their version of a silver glitter. This was three coats.
Overall:
For me the only real stand-out shades are Chlorophyll, which we have already seen, and Copperhead. I didn’t feel the others were very interesting or unique enough coming from OCC. I expect them to be outside of the “norm” a little more. Let’s have some more weird colors like Wasabi and Swamp Thing please!
Availability: Soon on OCC’s site (US only).
Pricing: $8.00.
What do you think about The Garden Collection? Any of these appeal to you or have you seen them done before?

Hmm I feel the same way. Nothing that really stands out in this collection.

Chlorophyll is pretty awesome but I’m not even sure I’d bother to get that, I have enough green cremes, I’m pretty sure I have something similar.
I like Chlorophyll and Chimera, but the others are just okay. Nothing that I absolutely must have…

Chlorophyll is FANTASTIC, wow. I’m not even a green polish person, but that is a gorgeous polish.

None of these are SUPER unique (maybe copperhead) but I still love Chlorophyll! I’m a sucker for a nice green!

None of these are really original colors. They look like rebottled mishmash from other brand’s collections. They’re pretty, but nothing I’d go out of my way for.

Greens are always my favorites. Love both the creme & green metallic.
I agree with you about Chlorophyll. That colour is totally up my alley, even if it’s not 100% unique – still a gorgeous shade. That’s the only one that called out to me.
Thanks for swatching all these colours, Kelly!

Chimera & Chlorophyll are stunning! I would love Chlorophyll as a summer pedicure shade.

Oh, dear. Some terribly dreary frosts and nothing special at all….Disappointing.

I like Chimera the best. I don’t have greens though so that would be different than what I own.

I like Chimera! I don’t know how “unique” it is, but it sure looks good to me!

Chlorophyll is so pretty!
I think I’ll be wearing greens alot this spring/summer.
I like Chimera and Copperhead. I hadn’t seen Chlorophyll before, and it is also a stunner.

Chlorophyll is quite stunning! I haven’t seen it before. I also like Chimera. I really hate this bottle type, though! I always knock the narrow bottle over when I’m painting my nails.

Only one that I really love is Chlorophyll – but cannot say it’s all that unique. Still it’s grabbing my attention. A tish like JITNB/OPI but with more of a pop of green – not as dusty.
I like Chlorophyll, but it doubt it would look good with my coloring.

I like Chlorophyll & Chimera, but the rest are super meh. Not sure I’ll be racing to get even the two that I like…
