Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics has a new collection out called The Garden Collection this spring/summer.

This collection features five new Nail Lacquers (and a re-promote), five Loose Colour Concentrates, and six new Lip Tars. It was inspired by poisonous and psychotropic plants (oooh groovy!) as well as more earthy tones found in nature.

Recently OCC changed their bottle shape from a soft square to this harder rectangle shape. I like the way they look and line up. However, and this only really applies to those blogging about nail polish, the shape makes it really hard to hold and get an attractive photo of your hands! So I apologize in advance for the lame finger angles, but I did my best with my short digits. icon wink Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Kava Kava Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review
Kava Kava

Kava Kava is a beige/nude color with a frosty finish. It’s very close to my natural skin tone, which does nothing for me personally. Ok application, not too streaky for a frost. But you know, I’m not a fan of frosts so much. This was three coats.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Chlorophyll Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review
Chlorophyll

Chlorophyll is a mesmerizing bright green creme and a re-promote. Amazing color, fantastic formula and just an overall solid polish. Two coats.

Phantasm

Phantasm is an icy blue metallic. Very silvery blue. It’s a little on the sheerer side and I think three coats is best. Nothing to write home about, I’m not sure it’s that unique.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Chimera Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review
Chimera

Chimera is a green metallic. Now this one was MUCH more opaque and creamier than Phantasm was. The color is overall richer looking, which I like. This was two coats.

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Copperhead over Chlorophyll Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review
Copperhead

Copperhead (over Chlorophyll) is a copper glitter suspended in clear polish. I love copper so this is allllright in my book. This is just one coat but you can easily build up as much as you like!

Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Arsenic Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics The Garden Collection for Spring/Summer 2012 Swatches & Review
Arsenic

Arsenic is a silver glitter in a clear base. It’s silver, it’s glitter, it’s definitely nothing we haven’t seen 20 billion times before. But I think every company has to have their version of a silver glitter. This was three coats.

Overall:

For me the only real stand-out shades are Chlorophyll, which we have already seen, and Copperhead. I didn’t feel the others were very interesting or unique enough coming from OCC. I expect them to be outside of the “norm” a little more. Let’s have some more weird colors like Wasabi and Swamp Thing please!

Availability: Soon on OCC’s site (US only).

Pricing: $8.00.

What do you think about The Garden Collection? Any of these appeal to you or have you seen them done before?
