Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Varnish for Spring/Summer 2012

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Varnish Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Varnish for Spring/Summer 2012

Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism is their new spring/summer 2012 collection.

Human Fundamentalism features a bevy of beautiful colorful products, including two new nail varnishes.

Illamasqua Nomad Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Varnish for Spring/Summer 2012
Nomad

Nomad is a bright jade green creme. Not mint but definitely jade. Not neon but definitely bright. Pretty good formula here, if not a little thick. It went on nicely in just two coats. I don’t think I have anything quite like it yet so it wasn’t a dupe for me!

Illamasqua Stance Illamasqua Human Fundamentalism Nail Varnish for Spring/Summer 2012
Stance

Stance is a bright pink-based purple creme. This one is much brighter than the photo depicts. Thinner, more of a sheer formula than Nomad, and three coats to cover. I don’t think I love it though. It’s pretty but not really that unique in my eyes.

Availability: Illamasqua now.

Pricing: £13.50.

What do you think about Nomad and Stance?

In other nail related news…

As you can see, my nails here are really short. This is because the other night I cut them off in a jealous-movie-star-induced-nail-incident. What is that you ask? It’s when I watch a movie, see an actresses nails, and immediately want mine to look like theirs.

Mine were on the verge of being too long for my liking at the time. Then I watched Young Adult with Charlize Theron. There are a couple scenes where she’s getting a manicure, and her nails are really short, nicely rounded and so chic looking. Actually, I’m sure they aren’t really even her nails in the shot. In fact, they look much longer in this shot below than in the close-up scene.

So I decide within hours I HATED my square shaped horrid nails, and cut them all off. Of course now they look nothing like hers, and I am really annoyed at myself. I am horrible at shaping them (this might be the bane of my existence) so I don’t know what I expected to happen. But not this.

But it will happen again, I promise. It always does. Oh and did I mention I just got a ton of dark brown low-lights put in and now I want to be blond again? Damn you Charlize!!!!!!.;)

  • Your Charlize Theron story is funny! I understand the phenomena – I once permed my stick straight hair after seeing Andie McDowell’s curls in a movie.

I like shorter nails – yours look good!

  • I don’t really like those. However I do like short nails. One I think it looks cleaner and two I can’t type fast with long nails.

  • Really cool colors! I love the green one especially

I know exactly how you feel. Lately I’ve found myself watching a tv show, and I’ll notice someone’s nails and immediately wish I was wearing that color instead. I suffer from nail envy! :)

  • Haha! Just yesterday I was watching tv and a girl in a random series had short black nails and I was like waaaah! Want! Odd thing is my nails have pretty much always been short, they just chip like crazy. But now I’ve had the pleasure of no chipping for like a month or something and my nails are crazy long (for me that is). I guess it’s true, the grass is always greener on the other side :D
Not cutting mine down yet though :P

  • I’m and really rather fond of both those colours, but am likely to pass.. their high cost and lack of availablily to see these in person where I live make it hard to justify purchasing. Very pretty though. Oh and I hear you on the shaping thing! I find some nails easier to shape that other… Oh well :)

  • Great polishes and I assure you your nails look wonderful. I too see nails I like and wish mine would look that way. Though for me it’s more I have fat fingers and want teeny tiny hands.

  • I love, love, love Nomad. And don’t feel bad about cutting your nails. That is just the power that Charlize has. She could convince me to add blond and in my case, that’s a really bad idea.

  • I agree with the consensus- the first thing I thought when I saw these pics was how jealous I am of your nails! The shape really is lovely!!!

  • I like Nomad, and trust me, your nails still look fantastic! I’m completely letting mine go at the moment. They’re still so weak and peeling not much can be done to them. If I put on nail polish it just starts chipping in a day *sighs* Why doesn’t the darn vitamin supplement start working already!

  • Your nails look great. That green is very shocking but I like it! It would look great on toes too.

I was like Sunny a few months ago, my nails wouldn’t grow and if they did, they’d chip and crack easily. I started using Perfect Formula gel coat I got on QVC and it’s done wonders. My nails are so strong now. I recommend it for anyone who has brittle soft nails.

  • Ha, loved this little story! This happens to me constantly with my hair. I let it grow a bit, get annoyed, hate how it looks, cut it and then look back at pics and think: Wow, I loved my hair when it was longer :( So silly. It’s OK, I’m lucky my hair grows super fast! Hope your nails will grow back in a hurry for ya! P.S. I would actually love to wear these two nail shades together in a manicure!

  • Even though the resulting nail shape that you have now isn’t what you wanted exactly, I still think your nails look great, Kelly. :)

You know, I love square and squoval nails, but they never look right on me, so I’ve stuck to my natural shape, which is oval.

I just watched that movie yesterday. It was such a sad movie. You think being a beautiful girl she wouldn’t have a problem. She was a mess. I just cringed watching her pull her hair out. The scene at the party at the end was horrid. How can someone be so blind? I felt so bad for her. I sort of jumped during the manicure & pedicure when the nail clippers were used. Big difference between the manicured nails & Charlize nails. I shaped mine look those a few years ago. They all ended up breaking. My nails did look really pretty for awhile. Back to my squared look. Not too square. I won’t buy those polishes. Nothing really different there.

Like both of these colors, but probably won’t buy them.

  • I love Nomad- beautiful jade that is still very bright.

And I found Young Adult pretty hilarious- she was so delusional, and played the roll perfectly. My favourite part:

    “Take me with you!”

    “No, you’re good here”.

Thanks for the swatches! Is Orly Mint Mojito close in color to Illamasqua Nomad??

    March 23, 2012
    • Hi Jamie,

I would have to compare side by side but Mint Mojito is definitely more of a mint green and Nomad is more jade.
