Milani Nail Lacquers for Spring 2012 Swatches, Photos & Review

Milani has added some new shades to their regular collection of lacquers and I’ve got some of them for ya.

They come in a variety of finishes from creme, to metallic to shimmer and are big-3 free, as well as fairly inexpensive.

As far as formula, I did have some issues with a few of them being too thick and streaky. But others were really perfect.

Milani Nail Lacquer Juno

Juno is a pale pastel pink creme. This formula was just not working for me at all. Very thick and sticky-like, and streaky as well. It was just two coats but doesn’t look smooth and perfect.

Milani Nail Lacquer Beach Front
Beach Front

Beach Front is a bright robin’s egg blue with silver shimmer. Very pretty!! Love this color and the formula was buttery and excellent. This was two coats.

Milani Nail Lacquer Signature Gold
Signature Gold

Signature Gold is a copper/gold metallic. It’s a warmer shade, but still worked nicely for my skin tone. I am always mesmerized by these metallics! Good formula a little tiny bit streaky, but not too much and only two coats.

Milani Nail Lacquer Orchidia

Orchidia is a bright violet with silver shimmer. Super pretty! I was a little miffed at first because it was really sheer and I didn’t think it would be opaque at all. But after three coats it’s really perfect. Such a great spring color and really nice formula also.

Milani Nail Lacquer Teddy Brown
Teddy Brown

Teddy Brown is a milk chocolate brown creme. Love the color, but had some issues with it not applying very evenly. You can see lighter and darker streaks. This was three coats.

Milani Nail Lacquer Sail Away
Sail Away

Sail Away is a deep navy blue with loads of silver and light blue shimmer. Great formula, no issues, nice color. This was two coats.

Milani Nail Lacquer Deep Thoughts
Deep Thoughts

Deep Thoughts is a blackened royal purple shimmer. The shimmer is pink and purple and the edges are super dark. Reminds me of velvet. Good formula and only two coats for coverage. Maybe not the most unique purple though.

Milani Nail Lacquer Dark Coffee
Dark Coffee

Dark Coffee is a very dark chocolate brown creme. I really like this one because it’s so rich and shiny. The formula was good but I used three coats for maximum payoff.

There are some good colors here for sure. I think the best ones for me were Orchidia, Beach Front, Signature Gold and Dark Coffee. The formula definitely needs work with a few of them though!

Availability: Milani, drugstores.

Pricing: $4.49.

Are there any here you might be picking up this spring?

Hmmm, feeling a little underwhelmed by the collection. Orchidia and Beach Front are rather pretty. Might pick those up at the next Milani BOGO 1/2 sale.

Not thrilled with this collection. I do like Beach Front and Dark Coffee, but I won’t be racing out to buy them. I have so many other spring polishes I want first!

Sail Away (got the Enya song stuck in my head now..) and Beach Front are definitely my favorites. Is Deep Thoughts comparable with BB Couture’s Bandito?

    • February 16, 2012

      Hi Jenn F,

I think it’s closer to China Glaze Midnight Ride but still darker. Bandito is more of an eggplant purple.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Beach Front ( I think this is EVERYTHING Revlon’s Blue Lagoon wasn’t) and I am dying for Signature Gold!!!! I am STALKING my CVS and Walgreens for these two colors now! Thanks for the post!!!! :)

I have several of these, but I haven’t even swatched them yet. Hoping for great formulas – sad to hear they’re not all great. It seems mostly I have great luck with Milani, but the ones that are bad are BAD. Great swatches!!! ♥

I’ve seen some Beach Front type of color this spring, and I’m tempted to give it a try now! Another of my favorite is Deep Thoughts, but I’m pretty sure I can find something from my stash that looks close enough. I like how balanced this collection is, almost unconventional because some of the colors could definitely be part of a winter collection!

Juno and Beach Front are beautiful. I’m already imagining all kinds of nail art that I can do with those two colors together!

Everyone seems to be coming out with these pretty blues with silver shimmers and I can’t get enough of them! :) Beach Front is gorgeous and Orchidia is a close second. Curious how Beach Front compares to OPI I Don’t Give a Rotterdam and Zoya Skylar.

      Hi Carmela,

I know same here, I love these blues! I don’t have the OPI one, but as far as Skylar it’s definitely different. Skylar is a much darker, more greyed out murky blue. This is clean, light and vivid. Also the shimmer in Skylar is yellow I think and this is silver. Both are so pretty though.

The only two speaking to me are Orchidia and Beach Front. Those tow are just lovely in my eyes. Thanks for the great swatches and review. :)

These new colors are great. Love the pastel colors. “Juno” is especially lovely.

  • February 16, 2012

Beach Front and Signature Gold are stunning! Love the shimmer in Beach Front. Is there any drugstore in particular that carries a good stock of these? I can’t get Milani where I am, but my parents are travelling in the U.S. right now, maybe I’ll ask them to stop somewhere and pick up a couple goodies. 😛

      Hi The Lacquer Tracker,

I frequently see Milani at CVS and Rite Aid near me.

  • February 16, 2012

I’m wearing Sail Away right now! It’s good, ladies…almost a one-coater if you are careful! Color is nice, too…blue enough to look blue, but not so obnoxious that you couldn’t wear it to work.

  • February 16, 2012

Beachfront is really pretty – I love those robin egg blue colors. Too bad Teddy Brown was streaky, as I really like the color.

Wow. How incredibly pretty. I was wondering why they were discontinuing so many shades. I’m feeling some of these new ones for Spring. Some nice pastel and bold hues!

    Hi, Kelly. Love your website!

I’ve not tried Milani polishes before, but I’m now eager to check them out at the local drug store.

Orchidia and Beach Front are calling my name. That kinda thing happens alot with nail polish.

  • February 16, 2012

I’m liking Beach Front and Orchidia a lot. I have been stalking to whole Color Club Starry Temptress collection and haven’t been able to find it at a reasonable price and these look a tiny bit similar. I’ve never had a problem picking up new CC collections at Ross stores for around $8 for the whole set but never saw this one and now they seem to be getting less and less. I hope thats not a trend.

  • February 16, 2012

These do look pigmented. I’m glad not to see the same ol’ pastels in this collection too. My favs are Dark Coffee and Deep Thoughts.

Juno and Beachfront are on my radar already!! Love them! Even though I have SO many blues, I cannot resist adding to my collections

  • February 16, 2012

Beach Front looks lovely – like the kind of colour that looks spring-appropriate, but you could also do lots of wintry nail art with it, too.

Orchidia and Beach Front are gorgeous! I really like Deep Thoughts too, but I might already have a similar color, China Glaze Let’s Groove. Hm, but who knows! I think it’s gorgeous none the less.

Milani is really stepping it up! Those are some seriously good colors. It’s so great to have such good colors at drugstore prices. Great swatches Kelly!

I really like Beach Front, Orchidia & Sail Away! I’m drawn to Teddy Brown because I’m addicted to taupes but I know I must have at least 4 or 5 just like it.

I don’t really buy Milani much anymore though because I really don’t like the packaging of the whole line, polish bottles included. I know that sounds a little shallow (?) but it looks so… dated. Maybe I’m just weird.

  • February 16, 2012

Beach Front & Orchidia are sooo pretty!

  • February 16, 2012

I really like all of them! My stores are always really bad about getting new collections though so I may have to go online. Great pics!

  • February 17, 2012

Pretty neutral about the collection but I must say that orchidia is gorgeous! xD

It’s a shame that Juno is streaky; it’s so pretty. Do you know of a similar color with a better formula? Sail Away is lovely. I love silver with blue.

Oh nvm, I see you have a handy nail gallery. :)
