MAC Mineralize Skincare Charged Water Collection for Spring 2012 Review

MAC Mineralize Skincare MAC Mineralize Skincare Charged Water Collection for Spring 2012 Review

MAC has a new permanent collection out called Mineralize Skincare and it consists of five new products, all with their new ionized Charged Water technology.

The collection includes Charged Water Cleanser, Charged Water Revitalizing Energy, Charged Water Moisture Gel, Charged Water Moisture Eye Cream and Charged Water Face and Body Lotion.

I have had the chance to play around with some of these products for a few weeks now and pretty much only have good things to say!

The Charged Water Moisture Gel was the first thing I opened up and wanted to dip into.

I’m pretty big on constantly moisturizing my face now, and I pretty much never did until about 2 years ago. All the sudden some dryness started happening, and not only that, fine lines look much more obvious when your skin is sucked dry. Not good!

This stuff comes in a good sized pot (1.7 oz) and the texture is a light whipped creamy gel. When you apply it, it feels cooling on the skin and lightweight. It sinks in easily, doesn’t look or feel oily, and just provides a nice light moisturized feeling.

Sometimes moisturizers make me break out and I’m always weary of trying new ones, but luckily I had no problems.

I think it’s a really great day time moisturizer but isn’t as heavy as I would use for night time. Which is totally fine. Let me add that this doesn’t contain SPF, so if I’m going outside at all, I would use one with an SPF instead.

Next up is the Charged Water Moisture Eye Cream (0.5 oz).

Let me tell you something. After say age 35, eye cream becomes your BFF! After my shower it’s the first thing I put on and after I wash my face at night, same thing.

This is more of a cream and not gel-like. It also feels really cooling on the skin when you apply it, and sinks in easy. It’s a thicker consistency than the Moisture Gel.

I can’t speak to the claim that it reduces dark circles and lines because I haven’t been using consistently for long enough. I can say that I have tried 1,001 eye creams and NONE of them have done that yet. But having said that, it’s a really nice eye cream, feels good, and makes my eye area feel and look better.

I prefer this one at night since again, no SPF and it’s pretty rich.

MAC Mineralize Charged Water Cleanser MAC Mineralize Skincare Charged Water Collection for Spring 2012 Review

The Charged Water Cleanser comes in a decent sized bottle (3.4 oz) and it’s a lightweight makeup cleanser.

This is for removing all regular makeup, but not so much waterproof versions. I just put some onto a cotton cloth and wipe clean. No sticky residue and doesn’t make your skin feel oily or dry. Just right.

I think it’s works pretty nicely but it’s not my favorite facial cleanser ever. I prefer to use something I can use all over, for all types of makeup. That’s the lazy me talking. icon wink MAC Mineralize Skincare Charged Water Collection for Spring 2012 Review

  • I may have to try the eye cream, but other than that I’m kind of “meh” about MAC skincare. It’s not horrible, but it’s not amazing. Just right in the middle.

  • I haven’t tried any MAC skincare products yet, because I personally associate the brand with makeup and not skincare! If the eye cream really reduces dark circles over time I’m game. Mine aren’t bad at all, but I wouldn’t be unhappy to have them disappear :p

Ohh! The eye cream DOES seem nice!
Kelly, what is an eye cream that you might be able to recommend to me? I’m looking for something that isn’t TOO expensive, but does work. I’m 23 years old and have pretty bad dark circles already. I guess nursing school could do that to you :( I just wanna take care of it now to get a head start for when I become a nurse! :)

Thanks for the reviews! How does this eye cream stack up to Bobbi Brown’s hydrating eye cream (I think you’ve mentioned in the past that you like this one)?

    • Hi Heather,

Funny you mention that I just commented about that with someone on here! It’s been awhile since I used that one but from what I remember, it’s not quite as thick and sinks in a little quicker. I remember it being really hydrating but thinner and easy to wear under her Corrector I used to use. I have to say, half the reason I bought the BB one was for the beautiful glass jar it came in (which is so wrong) haha.

Thanks! The MAC eye cream is a bit cheaper, and I’m nearly done with my BB one, so maybe I’ll try out the MAC one next.

  • I would try the Mac eye cream but I just bought theBalm eye cream a couple days ago.

Do you have any make up remover recommendations that don’t leave streaks of oil on the face? Because that’s what I have :[

Don’t think I’ll be trying any MAC skincare at any time. I wish there was an eye creme that removed dark circles. I’d buy a vat of it!

  • I haven’t tried any MAC skincare because I recently just gave a couple of Shiseido ones a go – really liking them so far! :)

Hmmm. I haven’t really had good experiences with MAC skincare. I tried the Lightfully gel moisturizer and it wasn’t hydrating enough for me which is surprising because my skin is super oily. How is the scent for this line? The lightfully scent was cloying to me. I just remembered that they are expanding the lightfully line, too. Too much, MAC! lol.

    • Hi Melody,

The scent is a pretty light fresh one, barely there. Not heavy at all.

Awesome, thanks! I think I’m going to try out this moisturizer.

  • I saw these out of the corner of my eye at the MAC store but didn’t investigate them. Thanks for updating on what these are.
