Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life

Essie Green Polishes Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life

It’s been awhile since I bought any new Essie polishes, and BOY did I miss out on some great colors!

These might not all be super new shades, but they are all great greens that I am really pleased to add into my collection. I think green fanatics will want them all, if you don’t already own them.

Essie Green Polishes 2 Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life
Navigate Her, Sew Psyched, Armed & Ready

Essie Navigate Her Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life
Navigate Her

Navigate Her is actually a new one, from their spring 2012 collection. The color is a soft pistachio green creme. Kind of dusty, not overly bright. Not a mint. It’s a really fresh color and totally pretty, especially for spring. Great formula and I only needed two coats.

Essie Sew Psyched Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life
Sew Psyched

Sew Psyched is an older color but so gorgeous. It’s a muted army green/khaki with slight silvery shimmer. Another color I own very similar to this is Sonia Kashuk Fatigued. However Fatigued is a little streaky and this isn’t at all. This was two coats.

Essie Armed and Ready Three Green Essie Shades You Need in Your Life
Armed and Ready

Armed and Ready is a deep, dark olive green/brown with olive green shimmer. Wowzers. It’s so dark, shimmery and amazing. I don’t think I have anything even close. Am wearing it now! Love it. This was two coats.

You can find these online or wherever Essie is sold and they retail for about $8.00.

Did you pick up any of these yet?

-Kelly

  • I really want Navigate Her! I might cave in and order one of these days. The other two look a bit dangerous for my skin tone. I’m pretty sure they won’t look too good on me! Thanks for sharing Kelly! Green seem like the “it” color this season :)

  • I have and love Sew Psyched and I think you’ve sold me on the other two. Always looking for some sweet Spring greens, even if it’s not exactly Spring up here in Canada.

VV, I thought Essie was one of the brands you didn’t use, because they do animal testing..? Forgive me if I’m mistaken, but I could have sworn I read that somewhere here on the site.

  • I like Sew Psyched the best of the three. Probably won’t pick any of them up though. For some reason, I’m just not a fan of most green polishes – I think it’s because I wore one once and my husband said it looked like I had mold on my fingers, LOL!

Question… did you have any problems with the Navigate Her staining your nails? I had a similar colour that left my nails with horrid yellow/Shrek green stains (can’t remember the brand, and I had used a base coat). It’s turned me off of green polishes as I had to wait for the stains to grow out… several weeks without my pretty sheers was torture since Shrek kept on coming through.

    February 22, 2012
    • Hi Sara,

No, no problems with that. Usually the only colors I have staining issues with are deep saturated blues.

I own Sew Psyched and Armed and Ready and I love them! Still trying to stalk down Navigate Her but it looks as though I’ll have to order it online in order to get it…

  • Navigate Her is my favorite out of the three. I’m just now getting in the mood for spring colors so this speaks to me.

I am wearing Navigate Her right now and I love it!! There aren’t many mint greens I can wear because of my skin tone but this one I can. I have Sew Psyched also but think I may need Armed & Ready! Thanks for the swatches! Good to see some Essie polishes on your nails again :)

  • Hmmm… Armed and Ready looks very close to Estee Lauder’s Metallic Sage. I beleive you swatched that color back in August. Essie’s version looks a bit darker. When Estee Lauder released their version I just HAD to have it. Estee Lauder is often overlooked by many, but at $19 a bottle, Essie’s version is just as nice. :)

  • I don’t usually wear green on my nails, but I love Sew Psyched. But – I used to say no blue either, and I’ve totally been getting into bright blues and teals! So, it’s really just a matter of time before I start adding greens to my nail polish collection :)

I have all three. But Navigate Her looked lime green on my nails the first day and then by the third day, it changed to the color of your swatch. Really strange but I love Essie! I have a nice little collection growing.

Armed & Ready is gorgeous. I’m not usually into dark greens or browns, but it looks so complex. I think usually at this time of year I start to break out the brighter colors because spring (and summer) comes so early in Austin, but this year I’m lingering on darks.

I have to agree with your choices, though I do not own any of them. I’m particularly inclined to get the last two. Noted!!

    February 22, 2012
  • I love all of them, I only got 2 greens by Essie: Da Bush, its great on it´s own and lovely as a base for nail art and School of Hard Rocks wich I don´t put yet because here in Argentina we are in summer time and SOHR it´s quite dark.. I also love my Turquoise & Caicos but it´s not green green
I will love to buy Navigate her, lloks great!!

These look great on you! Greens are tricky for me…too much yellow in them and it is no bueno. However, I did buy Ole Caliente and Orange It’s Obvious from the new collection (same one as Navigate Her) and am excited for those to come in.

    February 22, 2012
  • I love Sew Psyched, and wear it quite a bit. And I’m currently on the fence about Navigate Her; I can’t decide whether to buy it or Dior Waterlily. Do you have a preference in that category? It seems like they might be of similar tone, but the Dior has that lovely shimmer.

As for Armed and Ready, I’m perhaps not as much of a fan of murky olive greens, but I do like the look of the copper shimmer in it. Is it a hidden shimmer? Or is it noticeable in all lights?

    • Hi The Lacquer Tracker,

They are different greens for sure, but I prefer Dior because of the shimmer.

Armed & Ready is definitely a murky kind of hidden shimmer you don’t see in low lighting.

      February 22, 2012
  • Hi Kelly,

How does Armed & Ready compare to Estee Lauder Metallic Sage?

    February 22, 2012
    • Hi Sarah,

It’s pretty different actually. Much darker, less olive, way murkier. The shimmer hides in most lighting with Armed & Ready. Maybe this will help (if you can see it): http://www.vampyvarnish.com/compare/

I love Essie and I love greens that are a little off, so I love all three of these. I already own Sew Psyched and Armed and Ready and I’m just thinking about whether I want to buy the full size of Navigate Her or get a mini set. Armed and Ready is sooooo pretty and chic, I highly highly highly recommend it!

    February 22, 2012
  • I really like Navigate Her and Sew Psyched. The third one is not that green so i wouldn`t chose it… :)

Is Armed and Ready a dupe for the Estee Lauder Metallic Sage?

Nope not at all. See my comment below to Sarah or you can compare them using my Nail Gallery Comparison feature.

I have a mini Sew Psyched and totally love it! I keep looking at Navigate Her in the stores but up until this post I hadn’t seen a swatch of it. Now after seeing your pic it is definitely a “need to buy”. And Armed and Ready is absolutely gorgeous also; if I come across it I’ll probably pick it up. Great pics and great colors on you.

  • because of you, i decided to try more Essie nail polish, their blue azure didn’t work very well for me, but seeing sew pysched and armed n ready, i m changing my mind!

Weird, I have Sonia Kashuk Fatigued and it’s not streaky at all. And I’m horrible at painting my nails- no patience and a very unsteady hand! :p

I really like navigate her, but I’m always drawn to greens and blues and then I never wear em once I buy them.

Anyway long story short, I love all of these.
