Books Vol. 1

Here are just a few of the old Nancy Drew books I have. My brother’s girlfriend gave these to me when I was about 9 or 10 and I’ve had them ever since. Quite a few of them are from the 1930’s and 1940’s which is cool! I did read most of these when I was young, and I think this is what got me started on my interest in crime and investigation (before I changed my major to English, I was a Criminal Justice major). Not much has changed since! :)

I was a huge Nancy Drew fan. I really liked the Hardy Boys too.

May I ask why did you change your major?

      Hi Iris,

Because I worked in book publishing and loved it and knew that was what I wanted to do. I liked Criminal Justice but in the end, there were no actual jobs in the field that appealed to me. Didn’t want to be a cop or lawyer. Science didn’t interest me at all, and I didn’t want to work on the corrections side either!

I had a whole slew of Nancy Drew books as a kid–loved them! I love how much freedom she had and of course the convertible lol.

LOVE THEM!!! I’ve been a fan of out titan haired sleuth since reading The Message in the Hollow Oak in the first grade! I couldn’t even count how many I’ve read, and once I felt “too old” for the original books (yaknow, 5th grade or so) I started reading the 80fied “Nancy Drew Case Files”. Anyone?

I have a handful of the books myself, though I recently decided that I want to start collecting them- can’t wait to add more to my collection!

I still have many of these in my attic :)

I’ve never read a Nancy Drew story but I started playing Nancy Drew computer games over 30 (and I still do)!

I ready my mom’s Nancy Drew books when I was in middle school and loved them. I should see if she still has them!

SO cool. I love Nancy Drew and I have a small collection of older ND books too that I found at my grandma’s when I was little. I still read Nancy Drew from time to time.

I always loved how everything was either quant or attractive in Nancy Drew’s world. It might be time to reread some of them. Thanks for the reminder!

That was a book orgasm for me! I loved Nancy Drew books. Unfortunately mine were stored in my brothers attic. His attic got leaky and moldy. My books were ruined. I stored the majority of my vast book collection there. I lost everything. Some were moldy, some just stunk of mold. I cried the hardest when I saw all my Nancy Drew books. I also had some really old ones. Most were from the 1960’s when I grew up. I used to buy a new one each week. My cousin and I traded these books back and forth each summer. I have the first 5 volumes that were reprinted some time ago in a slip case. My girlfriend bought me them for Christmas some time ago. I still love them. I’ve even watched the old Nancy Drew movies. Still love her, Bess, George and Ned.

Nancy Drew books were some of my favorites when I was younger! I think my sister and I amassed over 100 of them before we grew out of that phase, including some old double editions that we got from an aunt. Even though I haven’t read any recently, I’ll always love Nancy.

Oh my goodness…I’m pretty sure I read every Nancy Drew book when I was growing up. I also read the Hardy Boys and the Bobbsey Twins series. I’m gonna have to see if my mom still has all of them laying around somewhere; I would love to have them sitting on my bookshelf.

That is so cool you still have them! I still have many of my childhood books….and I love to collect antique books as well. My oldest is a book of plays by George (Bernard) Shaw (his middle name was penciled in!). It’s late 1880’s I think. But my favorites are the antique children’s books!
