New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review

Revlon Nail Enamel New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review

Revlon has some new Nail Enamels out in a large-ish display I discovered at Rite Aid. These are different from their other new ones out, which are (thank god) in newer shaped bottles! I will have a review of those shortly.

There seemed to be about 15 or more of these and the display I saw was picked pretty clean. I know there was a green one in there but none left for me, so I grabbed the ones that seemed interesting.

Revlon Nail Enamel 2 New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review

Revlon Chic New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review
Chic

Chic is a medium dusty teal blue creme. Muted, understated, nice. I’m not sure I LOVE it simply because I feel I already have a few similar, but it is a nice color. The formula was thin, but not runny and covered nicely in two coats.

Revlon Zealous New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review
Zealous

Zealous is a warm yellow with gold shimmer. This is totally the exact opposite of the kind of yellow I should be wearing because it looks horrific on me, but I still love the color itself. Just not on me. The polish was definitely pretty sheer and even after three coats you can see my nail line a bit.

Revlon Smoldering New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review
Smoldering

Smoldering is a silvery/grey/lilac/green duochrome metallic shimmer. Yes, it’s all of those things! Mostly what I saw was a silver metallic with slight green shimmer, but in certain lighting conditions you do see the lilac/green duochrome effect. But it’s pretty subtle and looks more obvious in the bottle than on my hands. I don’t love it, it’s kind of “whatever” to me. This was three coats as it’s on the more sheer side.

Revlon Foxy New Revlon Nail Enamels! Swatches & Review
Foxy

Foxy is a deep warm shimmery brown. I see hints of purple in the base of this, just a bit. For me this was just an ok brown, and a little on the streaky side. I love good shimmery browns, but this didn’t quite live up to what I was hoping for. This was two coats.

Availability: Rite Aid, Drugstore.com, CVS.

Pricing: I  found them during a buy one get one 50% off last week at Rite Aid. They are normally around $5.00.

Whaddya think? Have you seen these and picked up any?

I only have had 2 Revlon’s that I actually like. I am not loving any of these. I probably will be passing on them…
Have you seen the L’Oreal polish display?

    January 17, 2012
    • Hi Arlyn,

      No, I don’t support L’Oreal. :(

    I like Chic!
Looking forward to seeing your other Revlon reviews. I picked up one of those yesterday & am wearing it now!

    January 17, 2012
    • Hi Lesley,

I grabbed two greens, you might have one of ‘em…?

Heeheehee, I think so. Rainforest..the glittery dark green. I’ve determined today, though, that it doesn’t look good on me! Kind of a lobster cuticles / sallow hands combo…no bueno! Hope you have better luck!
Did you get the sage green one (forget the name)? I *almost* bought that one, too!

        January 17, 2012
        • Yup Rainforest and that sage green creme one! :)

Heehee, too funny! You do love a green! I’ll be happy to see those two on you…then I can decide about the other, lol.

        • Ooh, I’m excited for your Rainforest review! I got that the other day but have yet to wear it.

      Happy you like!

I think I’m the only person in the world who actually likes the Revlon bottle, ha. Revlon was my first polish love so probably it’s more nostalgia than anything. I don’t have any of these, although I was eyeing Chic the last time I saw a display. I thought Smoldering looked like OPI Not Like the Movies but it’s too bad that the duochrome doesn’t come out too much. I picked up Whimsical, Sparkling (the pink glitter), and Saucy (red shimmer). Saucy is my favorite; I’m sure there’s a dupe floating around somewhere but it’s a really pretty and bright red with gold shimmer (my favorite kind of red shimmers!).

FYI these are the same colors where the larger version of the display has Whimsical (the Deborah Lippman dupe), the paradoxal dupe, and the renamed versions of Facets of Fushia, Blue Mosaic and Starry Pink… just in case anyone was wondering!

  • I want to know how Smoldering compares to Ye ‘Ole Revlon Khaki Zing.

    • Hi Styrch,

I would let you know but I don’t have it, sorry!

      January 17, 2012
      • No comparison between the two IMO….I don’t have this one but still have my bottle of Khaki Zing–it’s much more vibrant and opaque. Darker purple, flash of khaki green. This one looks pretty in the bottle but I’m with VV–very meh on the nail. *Maybe* if you layered it over a purple you could mimic Khaki Zing?

Sorry, I was excited too until I saw the swatch : /

None of those seem worth my money. The best is Chic, but I have others that are similar enough that it wouldn’t be worth getting.

    January 17, 2012
  • I picked up Dreamer and Fashionista, in addition to Chic. I think they are supposed to be dupe-y in color to the Les Jeans De Chanel/ Nubar Jeans collections.

i picked up a bunch of them the colors are AMAZING i got 4 of their sparkles… Whimsical is a baby blue base with baby blue and pink glitters, Scandalous (facets of fuschia renamed), Radiant (blue mosaic renamed) are exact dupes for a few Deborah lippman polishes…Sparkling is a beautiful silver sparkle perfect as a top coat over other colors, Charming is a gorgeous light lavender pastel, dreamer is as it sounds a dreamy baby blue, Fashionista is a deep blue teal its GORGEOUS my favourite, Elegant is a warm beige color very flattering, The new collecton of colors is AMAZING well worth it! picked all mine up @ wallmart they were pretty cheap $4 dollars a pop!

I love Chic too – hope I can find it – but know I have something from Nubar that is similar. I had ‘heard’ but not researched that the display with the ‘new Revlon shaped bottles’ that are cylinder shaped, is a new formulation Revlon was going to come out with that is a long lasting 10+ day. I saw this display when I was still gone for my 2.5 month of medical when I had no oomph or time going into a Walgreens for pharmacy. I ‘think’ that might be what the new display was.

  • Zealous is such a cute yellow – looks like the sun is shining down on your nails! :) I can see a lot of people using this for Easter nail art.

  • I actually just wore Smoldering, and it is different than OPI Katy Perry Not Just Like the Movies, which is more green, and the glitter within is more pronounced. I also think that my color shift was really easy to see with three coats… I took pictures on my blog if you’d like to compare to the swatch here. Lovely swatches.

I really like Chic. I just picked up 3 of the new Revlon Colorstay polishes (cylinder bottle) that were on sale last week at CVS. I got Midnight (dark blue cream), Spanish Moss (a mossy green cream) and Bonsai (a sheer grass green – I think it’s a shimmer). I wore and loved the Midnight, and it did seem to last a little longer on my nails, around day 4 it started to have some tip wear (pretty good for me ;) Thanks for the lovely swatches!

  • I know it’s only about looks but the bottle is such a turn off for me! LOL I do like Chic though.

  • I bought chic and smoldering a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised with how nice they were and how much I liked them. Plus, getting compliments helps too!

Are all of the new Revlon polishes going to be in the new shaped bottle? Wondered if maybe just a certain collection or type of polish would be in the new shaped bottle. I do like the old shape. Reminds me of when I first starting buying polish. I don’t even know what in the whole collection. These are anything exciting too me.

I only got Dreamer and Naughty (Perplex, Paradoxal) because I’m holding out until I find Whimsical. The formula on Dreamer wanted to be streaky but if I’m a little more careful it’s wonderful and a blue I didn’t already have. I also love the new bottles!

From the picture Chic looks similar to Essie’s School of Hard Rocks. Then again, maybe I’m colorblind.

    January 17, 2012
  • Really like Chic! I bought Naughty from their new line a week or so ago, another great shade. It’s a deep gray with a purple/pink sheen running through it if you’re interested :)

Chic looks great! I just picked that one up at Target in the regular display. I also saw the renamed Facets of Fuschia, etc from that fall collection. Smoldering definitely looks like Wet n Wild Gray’s Anatomy, etc so I won’t need that one since I have the WnW. I’m hoping I can find more of the new shades, I saw a revamped core display at Walmart last week, but it was pretty empty because they hadn’t filled it yet. They also had spaces for the other new ones in the square bottles.

I randomly picked up Zealous at the grocery store because it reminded me of a zombie yellow-green color jazzed up with shimmer. Plus it was on sale for $2.49 (from $6.29!), so who could pass up that deal?! :)

    January 18, 2012
  • The drugstore brands are really stepping up their lines. Smoldering and Chic . . . Very Nice.

I’m kinda bummed that three out of four are “meh” especially since I did buy two of these polishes and one is Smoldering. I don’t want a silver polish! I want that nice duo/multichrome! The other I got was Dreamer. I haven’t worn either yet since I have been giving my nails a break. They got really bad, peeling and chipping like crazy, so I filed them down and have been slathering them in hand and cuticle creams.
