China Glaze Electropop Collection for Spring 2012 Swatches & Review
Welcome to the colorful world of China Glaze Electropop! Electropop is their new 12-piece color saturated collection for spring 2012.
Nearly all the colors in this collection are cremes with the exception of two shimmers and one glitter. But that’s not to say they’re boring.
The formula was really great with nearly all of them. They seemed to apply a bit sheer and I kept thinking I would need three coats, but nearly all were just perfect with two.

Techno over Electric Beat
Techno is a re-promote and is a multi-sized holographic and silver glitter. Because of the large hexagonal glitter pieces it can be trickier to work with because the glitter wants to go to the tip of your nails. This is one coat.

Electric Beat
Electric Beat is a perfect periwinkle blue creme. I’m wearing it now! Looooooooove these colors and this one is so perfect for spring (and winter).
This was two coats.

Aquadelic
Aquadelic is a bright blue/mint green creme. Not neon, but bright. Perhaps not quite as bright as this photo depicts though. This was two coats.

Kinetic Candy
Kinetic Candy is a pale blue creme. This has a lot of white in it and is a nice pastel color, without the chalky pastel finish. This was two coats.

Gaga For Green
Gaga For Green is a bright Kelly green jelly/creme. I love this because it’s not that same slightly darker green creme we have seen a lot of recently. It’s brighter and super shiny. This was two coats.

Sunshine Pop
Sunshine Pop is a bright warm yellow with yellow shimmer. This is bordering on looking terrible on me, but maybe I can pull it off. I did need three coats to get full nail tip coverage with this one.

Make Some Noise
Make Some Noise is a reddish/tangerine jelly/creme. Uber shiny and very nice for spring and summer. It was a little on the sheer side so I needed three coats.

Wicked Style
Wicked Style is also a jelly/creme and the color is a bright pinkish/red. Another super shiny one and just two coats.

Fuchsia Fanatic
Fuchsia Fanatic is a bright berry/pink jelly/creme. In real life it looks a bit more purple than this picture. This was two coats.

Gothic Lolita
Gothic Lolita is a GORGEOUS grape purple with pink and blue shimmer. It’s bright, it’s uber shimmery and saturated. Amazing This was two coats and my favorite one.

Dance Baby
Dance Baby is a bright cotton candy pink creme. Lots of purple undertones in this one. Super pink, super flattering and fun. This was two coats.

Sweet Hook
Sweet Hook is a pale, soft lilac creme. Pretty and pastel, but not streaky or chalky. This was two coats.
Overall:
There wasn’t a color in here I didn’t like. However, I think a lot of these look familiar and maybe aren’t all that unique. My favorites ones are Electric Beat, Aquadelic, Gothic Lolita and Gaga For Green.
Availability: February (officially).
Pricing: Around $6-7.
What do you think about Electropop? Unique enough or do you think it’s too close to other colors already out there?
-Kelly

these are all great & fun spring time colors. I love most of them. but I will have to narrow it down and pick a couple. oh decisions, decisions!
great photos – thanks for the review Kelly!

What a fun collection!!! I’m really diggin’ Sunshine Pop and Gothic Lolita (basically I’ve GOT to have Gothic Lolita haha)!

As much as I love the bright colors, I think this is a pass for me. Hardly any look unique.
I love the blues & pastels! how aquadelic compares to for Audrey? I want to buy one but not sure which one!
thanks for the swatches & review, now I “have” to pick some!!

Make Some Noise is pretty, but I’m still kinda “meh” on it. I’ve seen similar colors elsewhere.

Omg I love all of these!!! The yellow won’t work on my skin tone but I couldn’t be more excited about the other colors!! I don’t have enough nails.
I LOVE all the colors! I want this whole collection
I would pass on Techno though; I like it but it’s not that original and I have other glitter top coats.
Out of all these I really want the glitter, others don’t seem all that unique, but I still might get some.

I like most of these and will definitely pick up Electric Beat and the last three.
Most of these I can come up with something similar for so overall the collection isn’t calling to me. I do think Gaga for Green and Gothic Lolita would be worth checking out though
I ordered a bunch of these the minute they popped up on an e-tailer and they arrived yesterday. They are gorgeous. I was afraid that Make Some Noise and Wicked Style would be dup-ish for High Hopes and Heli-Yum from the 2010 spring collection, but I did a quick swatch and they are different enough that I’m happy to have both.
BTW – I don’t know where China Glaze sells for $7, but you can definitely find them for $3 on line. There’s always a shipping charge, but for multiple bottles, it’s still cheaper than $7/each.
Hi Grace,
That’s the price they put on their press release and I believe normal retail (not online at the etailers).
Wow – I never realized that! You pretty much can’t find China Glaze polishes anywhere BUT online where I am, so I never realized I was getting a deal, since the other polish brands on the sites I use are priced similarly to regular retail.
Thanks for these gorgeous swatches!
Love Aquadelic and Gaga for green! Amazing amazing x

I want the three bright, pinkish colors like “Make Some Noise”. I am addicted to bright, squishy colors. I am still looking for the perfect, almost neon red, so hopefully it will be one of those.
I’m definitely getting Dance Baby and Kinetic Candy! What a beautiful collection!

Absolutely love Electric Beat and Gothic Lolita! Another great collection from China Glaze!
I love how bright and fun this collection is! But it bothers me that they don’t seem too unique..might have to pass unless I spot Gothic Lolita.

Yum! I’m loving that Aquadelic.

I love that collection and have already ordret a couple:-)
I’ve been loving “almost-white” colors lately, i.e Urban Decay’s White Widow. Sweet Hook needs to be mine. Pretty much the top 4 as well. LOVE this.

I don’t own a lot of nail polish and I really love spring time, debating whether or not to get the whole collection, I probably won’t but I just love the colors sooooooo much!!!
I think some of them aren’t very original, but I love Electric Beat and Gothic Lolita. I think I’ll probably get Dance Baby just because I don’t have a cotton candy pink in my hoard yet!

These are all so pretty, and I am beyond impressed that you got these great swatches from only 2 coats on almost all of them! It’s true that the colors might not be super unique, but I generally find CG’s formula to be superior to a lot of the other options out there. I especially like Sweet Hook, Sunshine Pop, and Aquadelic…ehhh who am I kidding, I’ll probably end up buying all of them eventually! I can see some great potential for use with spring/Easter nail art here, and some options for accent nails…Dance Baby with an accent nail of Fuschia Fanatic, anyone?
Wow, love the vibrant colors! Wicked Style will definitely be coming home with me.

Oh boy, I want every single one of these!!!! I die especially for Aquadelic and Electric Beat!!!! I cannot wait to see these in person!
These all look amazing! I love CG’s spring collections and this one is no exception.

I don’t know why, but I’m not impressed with them. I’m not getting any of them. They just don’t seem that unique, I feel like I can find dupes in my stash already. Since the blogsphere is loving them, I feel, consequently, like I’m missing something here.

Thanks for your super close up photos. Previous to these, I thought this entire collection was creams! Not that I don’t like creams, but I thought I was not wanting anything in this collection – all colors I had seen – now I have picked out 3 for sure I need and I have to get to Sally’s as I have a 15% off along with my Sally’s card to use – now what else can I buy at Sally’s???
That is amazing coverage with just 2 coats, with most.
Kimberly´s last post…A Positively Purple Polish
I agree that while I love the way the collection looks together, the colors I’m drawn to I already have in a very similar shade. This one is probably a great collection for you to pull out some VS posts
I totally need to go get Gothic Lolita and maybe Make Some Noise! Gorgeous collection!
Gosh you and Karen from makeupandbeautyblog are killing me with these swatches. I went to Ulta yesterday and the polish weren’t there yet. Hope they come some cause I need some of these!
I think they are all very pretty! I have so many that are close, so I may just get the dark pinks (they look *a little* like the Lancome Golden Hat Xmas polishes).

Love these colors! I need some spring time colors to brighten things up. China Glaze never fails for me! Thank you for the swatches!

The only polish I will buy is Gaga For Green. The rest of the polishes as you say we’ve seen before. A new collection is always exciting.
I’ll definitely be picking up all the pastels, and maybe the yellow? I don’t have any true yellow polishes yet, and I like the shimmer in this one.

Wow, I love these! I have a set on hold for me at my local beauty supply. I must run there and get them asap. I think these will be great for marbling and nail art!

I like these a lot more than I thought I would! The names are fun, too. That said, they still look like colors that I’ve already seen and own, that are even China Glaze! When new collections are released from popular “mainstream” brands that are super similar to their older colors, I am reminded that there is always “new blood” out there that have never seen these colors before. plus, if I missed out on the oldie, now I can grab the newest version.

these colors are amazing!
And I really love your new design!!

What’s the difference between Sunshine Pop and Golden Opportunity? On pictures they look pretty much the same
I like the colors, but none of them really do it for me. I don’t find them that special. Not saying I’m not buying any though ;p
