Stila Smudge Pot in Black Cat Swatch & Review

Stila Black Cat Stila Smudge Pot in Black Cat Swatch & Review

Recently I decided I needed Stila Black Cat Smudge Pot. I was mainly drawn in by the fact that it’s a black with sparkles. Who doesn’t love sparkles?

Like most gel eyeliners, this one is creamy and gives you a smooth, skip-free line. You can also use it as a shadow base if that’s your bag, baby.

It comes in quite a few tantalizing colors including Kitten, Bronze, Brown, Jade, Cobalt, Grey, Black and Black Cat.

As you can see, the base color is a pretty dark black with multi-colored sparkles. It’s really very opaque and nice.

I have pretty much nothing negative whatsoever to say about Black Cat, it’s really a great liner to own! I haven’t had it for long enough to speak about it drying out so fingers crossed it lasts a long time!

Availability: Stila, Sephora.

Pricing: $20.00 for 0.14 oz.

Have you tried Black Cat or any other Stila Smudge Pots?

I have a mini stila smudge pot in plain black – I use it all the time and I absolutely love it. I have had it for over a year, and the texture is still PERFECT – it hasn’t dried out at all. it’s my favorite gel/cream eyeliner.

I wish they sold more minis, because i never use up full size products.

I totally agree with you…I love the minis!!! There is no way I’ll ever used up a full size one in my lifetime and it seems such a waste ($$), not to mention I could use more room in my makeup storage space (haha). My only complaint with the minis are the plastic lids can be a bit slippery and hard to open, plus one of my lids cracked :-( but other than that, love ‘em.

This is gorgeous, thanks for the review! I just wondered if you had any comments on how this wears? I have MAC’s Blacktrack but it always leaves a kind of print in my crease, despite using primer and/or setting with eyeshadow :(

How is the glitter fallout I wonder?

    • Hi robin,

None since the glitter is suspended in the cream. :)

  • Gel liners are some of my favourite kinds of eye liners to wear because they really last for so long. :) But I prefer the drama of a solid-black liner to one with sparkles, although I do think it looks pretty on others.

  • I use gels almost every day. Always curious about the smudge pot. How do you apply it? With a brush? Or a finger to get the “smudge” ?
